Yet another year of CANUCKLELION being wrong with his prediction of Welly "playing in Europe next season".
Orland Kurtenbach and Dennis Kearns had just been torched 8-1 by the Habs, but they still took time to come out to meet us, some fellow BC boys who were playing hockey in Montreal. THAT"S what being a Canuck is!

Just heard that on 1040. Good for him. He seems to have found a bit of a niche in Winnipeg.

Always thought he was good enough for the NHL. Just wasn't a fit here.

It bugs me when people pull out the gold medal for an example... Luongo only had to outplay Brodeur.

He had a good year in Winnipeg last season.
Some people forget he was a 5th rounder and for some reasons his expectations were really high.
Wellwood at 1.6 is a nice signing.

Must have looked for a better contract, but, with no takers, re-signed with Winnipeg.
“Reason is itself a matter of faith. It is an act of faith to assert that our thoughts have any relation to reality at all.” - G.K. Chesterton

“Unbelief is as much of a choice as belief is. What makes it in many ways more appealing is that whereas to believe in something requires some measure of understanding and effort, not to believe doesn't require much of anything at all.” - Frederick Buechner

“All human nature vigorously resists grace because grace changes us and the change is painful.” - Flannery O'Connor

“My argument against God was that the universe seemed so cruel and unjust. But how had I got this idea of just and unjust? A man does not call a line crooked unless he has some idea of a straight line. What was I comparing this universe with when I called it unjust?” - C.S. Lewis

For 50 points this is a steal. Welly thrived in the Peg.

Good fit there, and with Jokinen playing down the middle he will have less pressure than he did last year. I never liked him on the Canucks, but he is doing well there.

He had a ton of points one year alongside Sundin. He shows some flashes of brilliance with those soft hands. He is sort of like Raymond... Not in how they play the game, but in how the fans perception of the player they they think he *should* be contrasts with the player he is. That leads to disappointment despite favorable qualities.

Ah, I just couldn't remember if it was due to junior numbers/world junior performance or not.

i would prefer a 47 pts guy who like cheeseburgers, to a 49 pts guy who dive and start to show some big ego issue.

congrats wellwood.

Besides the fact that he was lazy, and soft, i loved that he had moves. I love this guy i hope him well with another season with the Jets.

If Kyle Wellwood could get in better shape, I have no doubt that he'd be a 60 point player in the NHL.

He fills whatever role is needed.
PP? Check.
PK? No problem.
Top 6? Can do.
3rd liner? Yep.
Centre? You got it.
Winger? Yes sir.

Add silky soft hands and dirty dangles, and he should be a great all-around NHLer.

It's not just Welly that's a boon to the fast food joints. Remember how OJ broke out of a slump last season by going for a "Big Mock"?

I think they should put the two of them on a line with Wheeler. Welly, Olli and Wheels....the WOW line.

i didnt really see him play last year but based on his point totals i say this is a solid deal. I always say potential in him and he did play pretty decent here.
