[Discussion] Is Hansen Our Most Expendable Asset?

If It's true that Vancouver is talking to Florida. I would love it for the Canucks to somehow find a way to get Marcel Goc in the deal. Perfect 3rd liner center. I've been wanting him since his days in San Jose. If we get a guy like that in return, it would make Hansen moving a bit easier, though Goc and Hansen would make a deadly 3rd line. Still annoyed that the Canucks signed Malholtra over Goc, especially when Goc was less than a million dollars.

It's these type of guys, who can play in every situation that step up in the playoffs. Goc put up 5 points in 7 games for Florida during the playoffs. All hard work and determination.

These guys are worth a hell lot more on their teams then being moved.

Pinno ,Kass and Hansen are natural right wingers.

Burrows,Booth ,Higgins,Raymond and Volpatti are all natural left wingers.

The lefties have to get cut down and that should begin with Raymond.

However, nobody wants Raymond for an equitable return so there is a wee dilemma.

Isn't it just a given that bottom six players are always considered expendable if they can bring back a premium? The acquired top six would bump a current top six player down, otherwise every team has a farm player knocking on the door hungry for an opportunity.

So yes of course, Hansen is expendable. I know he is a fan favourite but if the trade is beneficial it should be done.

In your dreams.

On the topic .......... I'd rather keep Hansen who I like a lot (he is a team player) and add Booth into Lu trade. Win win, we put him back where he belongs thereby getting a monkey off our back and save a big chunk of cap space ..........and no doubt he would be happy too.

We take Gudbranson or Weiss and Bjugstad +

Ps I would add Hansen / Raymond if it got us Fleischmann AND Weiss. .............Lu, Booth and Hansen/Raymond for Weiss and Fleischmann.

It's about time we got some good stuff from Florida.

Yes, Honey Badger is awesome and we all love him

But would he not be arguably our best trading chip after Luongo?

Think of it this way

- Productive, excellent checking 3rd liner

- 26 year old, coming off of a career high in points

- Signed cheap for 2 more seasons

Now your probably thinking to yourself, those are all great reasons to keep him

Wouldn't that mean his value is at an all time high?

At this point and time, Hansen is easily replaceable.

- Despite his haters, Raymond is a very serviceable 3rd liner

- Kassian could see increased role on 3rd line

- Jensen could be a long-term solution

- Even guys like Rodin/Mallet could knock on the door sooner rather than later.

Now I am not saying we should trade Hansen for the sake of trading Hansen

However, perhaps he could be leveraged into returning a premium in an area of weakness on our roster.

- Help in the top 6

- 3rd line center of similar value

- Packaged with Luongo for an increased return in Luongo trade

Instead of the typical "trade Raymond for nothing" thought process on CDC, why not consider moving Hansen for a premium, since we have players who could step in and replace him (and provide similar results)
