Talking down, insulting and trying way too hard to use big words as if it somehow fortifies your point are terrible debate strategies. For the suicide argument, he said it happens every 40 seconds. There was no reason to believe that he was specifically talking about Canada. You made a mistake and you're burying yourself deeper. Should you choose to argue against the inanity of others, argue them on your own motivations. If my words are too 'big' for you, i suggest you buy a thesaurus.
