Yeah, trade an all star goalie for a pending UFA who's got one year of playoff experience. Jeez, some people have no brains.

Absolutely agree with your point. In this league, you do not trade an all star goalie for draft picks and prospects. To get Luongo, we had to trade Bertuzzi, who at the time was a part of the highest scoring line in hockey.

Give me enough quality picks and prospects, and I'd listen. A middling package of them though? No way.

the league has changed since then. The teams with the most success have young, impact players on ELC.

Kassian's playing right now, as is Tanev. They're both younger and have earned their spots on a team filled with very good players. AV has given guys like Raymond and Hansen chances when they were young prospects as well, but to think a prospect will be gifted anything (especially when it would mean potentially losing a depth player to waivers) without first earning it is naive.

Schroeder has shown he deserves a chance, but that has to fit in with all the other needs of the team so it's hardly the coach being biased against prospects and future development.

Its not that he isn't playing young players, look at Kassian and Tanev, its he his favorites. Look at how much ice time rome got, did he deserve it not always, but Rome played the same style of hockey Vigneault did. Ebbett, is the same kind of player, never really got a break, had to work every shift to earn his ice time. While Schreoder is a young first round pick who hasent performed up to all of his expectations.
