bloodycanuckleheads
This has been bugging me for literally years now... Why on Earth isn't AV pulling Lu for the shoot-outs? Luongo isn't just bad in shoot-outs - he's absolutely terrible. Just horrible. If the Canucks are in a tight game - and it goes to a shootout with Luongo in net - you can bet we lose. Virtually every single time. It's not even close. He can't stop shootout shooters. Like, at all. Ever. So, even though Schneider would be cold - wouldn't we be better off pulling Lu after overtime - and bringing Schneider, just for the shootout? We've been the best team in the NHL for years now - yet one of the worst at the shootout. Even with an ice-cold goalie, fresh off the bench, we've gotta have a better shot at winning than sticking with Luongo, don'tcha think?
Primus099
We haven't scored a single goal in both shootouts Luongo has been in. Are you kidding? Both games he;s played so far should have never even gotten to a shootout, we've blown two 2-0 leads and he's played great both games.

geebster
So you suppose Schneider would score in the shootout too?
MrsCanuck
Oh my god...... Luongo was STELLAR all night, including the shootout. Let Luongo take the shootout attempts. My 13 year old minor hockey playing brother could put in a better effort than the BS our shooters spat out tonight.
NP-4815162342
Luongo stopped the first two shots our team can't score anything for him maybe av should put in someone else for a change
pianoman13
Canucks shooters are in the bottom half of the league for shootouts. Luongo lets in one shootout goal and lets all blame him. Some people are crazy.
Zissou
Luongo actually played well in this shootout. He has been terrible in the past. Also, teams have tried putting backups in for the shootout just like this and there has never really been any positive results. Shooters just as much as goaltending. Team is built on passing, no real danglers, resulting in sub-par SO results.
EvoLu7ioN
And you risk injuring your ice cold goalie. IDIOT.

Pears
Firstly, you can't switch goalies before a shootout and secondly, wow, just wow...
hockeyville88
It is extremely dangerous to throw a cold goalie into a shootout. Shootouts are murder on the groins and getting a goalie to come off the bench to face 3 breakaways is a great way to pull or tear a muscle. Plus, the goalie who has been facing shooters all game is likely to have a better read of where they might be aiming in shootouts. I know Luongo is not the best but, if talking specifically about tonight, the Carter move was unstoppable. It was fantastic.
allkill326
So, Luongo is the scorer for all of our shootouts? Luongo was brilliant in tonight's shootout. The goal he allowed on the blocker side is his typical weak spot, witnessed ever since the 2007-2008 season. Check out Erik Christensen's shootout goal on December 2, 2007 against Vancouver. Patrick Jane
Lu wasnt the problem it was terrible pp and running around, instead of hitting which canucks should start doing more of.
stonecoldstevebernier
Yeah, okay. the only reason we'd pull him is to make him one of the shooters, since our rotation's so stale.
Stick-in-Rink
Hah. Because having 0/3 of your shooters miss does not at all add to the reason as to why the Canucks are so bloody awful at the S/O. Luongo should be making all those saves, and scoring too! Typical Canucks fan logic.
Primal Optimist
What I think you mean to say is that the coach should take shootouts more seriously and prepare 9 guys to do shootouts, and go to the hottest hands among the guys that are on the shootout short list, also he should prep those guys with a shootout specialist coach. Instead our coach doesn't like shootouts and has not ever spent serious time on the deciding mechanism for an extra point in a close matched game.
