just for all the bitching and whinning, a simple question, which player that was traded today could we have had???

only 2 rules.

1. salary cap and other teams needs must be noted.

2. we must beat the actual deal that was accepted. for instance, if you guys want Pomminville you must be willing to trade Lack, Gaunce a 1st and a 2nd plus something else to beat that Wild offer.

Also note, Luongo is not a fit in Tampa as they obviously want a stop gap goalie until Vasilevskiy is ready. so dont try the Lu for Conachar idea.

Torres for a 2nd? PASSS!!! when we got Roy for almost that.

Plus who do you see Torres knocking off our top 9 lineup? dont forget Booth will also be possibly back by 1st rnd.

Doesn't really matter. We didn't make the deals I thought we were going to, especially after Gilman said the Canucks were going "all in" this year.

a comparable asset that CBJ gave up is.

Tanev, Hansen, Weise and a 5th for Gaborik. You'd do that???? i wouldnt touch that.

If we are basing things off of this year alone, Torres > Booth but I agree that the price was too high for him. Pominville would've been our best choice for a 2nd line addition but he was also too expensive. Sadly our divisional rival traded for him and now they look deadlier than ever before. Parise has a proper set up man now....

I'm still torn on the Clowe deal. I think the price was a bit steep, but at the same time Clowe is a rare kind fo player and one Kassian could learn a few things from. His 0 goals this year are a turn off but his past speaks volumes louder in terms of his capabilities. Put his big body in front of the net on the PP and I bet our special teams would suddenly blossom.

Torres.

Draft picks and an AHL'er. I miss that beast. Don't care what anyone says.

Definitely could have gotten Torres. Was a big factor in a lot of things in our cup run.

Then again, Ray Shero seems to have done a lot of impossible things.

TORRES! He went for a 3rd. I'd match the 3rd, throw in a low end prospect I do that in a second.

Minnesota's top 6:

Parise-Koivu-Pominville
Heatley-Bouchard-Setoguchi

They also have solid forward depth. All they lack is some defensive depth and a better 2nd liner.

Torres would play on our 4th line! he doesnt kill penalties and he also doesnt play the PP. which means you want to give up a 3rd rnd for a guy that would play 7 minutes a game for us...

waaay to much especially considering we traded our 2nd.

i have no idea what this has to do with the thread, but ill bite

1st- Bouchard is one big sneeze away from a career ending concussion..

2nd. they're defence is nowhere near as good as ours.

It was a 5th.

And he could play in the bottom 6 and be a depth fill in for offense.

Now lets compare down the middle

Henrik vs Miko Koivu
Kesler- vs Bouchard
Roy vs Brodziak
Lappiere vs Konopka

yes comeau was traded for a 5th but we have to beat the offer not just match it. especially since our pick is probably gonna be higher than CBJ. and offense?? what offense..dude has 9 goals in the last 3 seasons!

We would have needed a 4th to beat it or a 5th+6th.

Conacher trade is terrible for Tampa Bay, don't care how good Bishop becomes.

i would of loved Torres too.. but think what we did to him last time, he stepped it up turned beast mode, really stepped it up for us, and we let him walk over a couple hundred thousand, when we could have easily signed him.

Maybe its a blessing cause I just cant see Raffi stepping up for this team the way he did last time. When you know your a rental and the team doesnt have the heart to keep you or sign you..

Isnt exactly healthy motivation

Raffi Torress is a spark plug that this team could have badly used, Weise is Weise and I haven't seen enough of Pizz...we could have used a hard nosed checker, heck even Salo layed out some punishing hits.

I agree that Torres is better than Weise and could take his spot on the lineup.

So then once again we are back to the same question....Raffi Torres who would play 7 minutes a game for a 2nd rnd pick or a 3rd rnd pick
and a prospect?????

Jokinen

wouldnt work cap wise because we'd have to trade him for someone in our roster and Carolina doesnt want to take back any salary which is why they only took a 7th rnd pick for him. They have 31M ties up on 5 forwards...they clearly needed to get rid of jokinens contract for a draft pick. and once again that couldnt happen with us because we'd have to give them salary back

Filip Forsberg. Without a question the best acquisition of the day.

I woulda gave Raymond, Rodin, and a 4th for him. He would have added instant credibility to our prospect pool with the likes of Jensen and Kassian there too.

Also think O'byrne or McBain would have really helped the situation.

At least Raffi Torres,
