PhillipBlunt
There is a plan. This is the clearest and quickest route back to contention. Play the next season with the present roster, the inclusion of six rookies making the Canucks a harder team to play against. At the trade deadline, the Canucks package up Jannik Hansen, Chris Higgins, and Yannick Weber to Buffalo for Evander Kane. At the start of free agency, Benning signs Milan Lucic to a 5 year, $30 M contract. Then Benning packages Radim Vrbata, Alexander Grenier, Luca Sbisa, and Frank Corrado and a 2017 2nd rounder to Nashville for Shea Weber. Line up for 2016-2017 Lucic - Horvat - Kane Sedin - Sedin - Virtanen Baerstchi - Bonino - Burrows Prust - Gaunce - Dorsett Edler - Weber Hamhuis - Tanev Pedan - Clendening Hutton Markstrom Demko Three simple moves that could happen. Benning is clearing out cap space to acquire top end talent. Already made bids for both Lucic and Kane. Weber is 30 this year and his lack of production will effect his price, although will still remain high, the Canucks will have enough expendable and tradeable personnel to get it done. This team would be the closest thing to unstoppable this city has ever seen.

Canuck Surfer
Vrbata would already be a UFA. They could just sign him. Even if he was contracted, that package would not command the worlds premiere big defender...

BI3KSA-
Is simple a synomym for "never going to happen" or? Nashville trades an elite top 3 world defensemen, for a pending UFA 34 year old Sniper, a nearly 24 year old 4th line prospect, a plug defensemen that everyone and their mom hates, and a defense prospect with a #4 ceiling, while they are in win it now mode? It's NHL 15 type stuff like this that makes Canucks fans so disappointed when realistic, down to Earth trades happen. Neither of these trades are even remotely close to realistic or fair value
TheHitman
I'm still laughing at how you decided to break Edler-Tanev up even though Hamhuis probably has the most chemistry with Weber out of anyone on our team... Also bringing two meatheads in Lucic and Kane into the locker room and putting them on the same line? Golden.
Chris
This is what happens when people play NHL15's GM mode for the first time and think they have the world figured out.

komodo1970
I believe Kane was picked up with the full intention of drafting McDavid. Unfortunately, the hockey gods crapped on Buffalo's plans and they got Eichel instead (who is an awesome player in his own right). It's going to be interesting to see how their roster shapes up and whether Kane fits within their system. If their present trend of losing continues, I can see Evander becoming available in a couple seasons. Until then, I believe he is untouchable. Lucic is another player who's availability will depend on his teams success. If he plays well and fits in LA's system, he will not see free agency next season, unless, he chooses to do so. If he doesn't fit, he will be available at trade deadline. My personal opinion has the first option being the outcome. Personally, I hope we can obtain him at some point. He brings a whole lot of nasty, that Vancouver could surely use. His presence and physical play are what make him so valuable. A future line of Lucic, Horvat and Grenier could be a very inviting prospect. The perfect mentor for Grenier.
