I still think they need some more time. Marner needs to be consistent and play D. We'll they need to play Matthews more on the pp. Overall Toronto can't win now but in a few years and they still have their young core together then they can challenge for the cup. TO get Plekanak which helps. I wonder if TO will ever be able to get to the level of the top tier teams. They need D. Kind of like Winnipeg in the 80's. It would be to tough to fit JT and Mathews et all under the cap soon enough. If I'm TO and I sign JT it would of been on the premise that I had talked to Arizona earlier. Yotes would give anything for Mathews. OEL and Domi and a first I bet. TO could probably fit OEL, JT et all under the cap. Would be a heck of a team. All I keep hearing is how Dubas promised to keep the big three all signed. Fair enough. But what about the D? Gardiner is up at the end of next year as well. My guess is TO wants to bridge Nylander on the cheap but Nylander's camp isn't biting. Nor should they. The kid put up numbers and deserves the money. I'm not saying it's not important, but it might not be that important if your offense is stacked.
