  1. On a related note, it's nice to see Raty finding his game in Abottsford after a rough start. Seems like a couple games in the NHL was just what the doctor ordered. If he's able to keep progressing and becomes our 3C in a year or so, Hronek works out, and Beauvillier continues his strong play and either becomes a mainstay in our top six or we're able to move him for something of significance next year, this could end up being one of the better trades in Canuck history.
  2. This time of year every thread is a tank thread. There always seems to be one topic that absolutely dominates the entire board for a certain period of time before moving on to the next thing. Right now it's tanking, before that it was JT Miller, before that it was Bruce, etc etc etc...
  3. We've traded so many picks already, and with last year's pick trending downward already, I think they're unlikely to move another 1st, let alone a 1st in the top half of the first round.
  4. I'd argue that we probably need another blueliner to add to our core. Hopefully we're in a position to draft Reinbacher and/or sign Livingstone, as I think both those guys would fit out team like a glove become part of our core. Malinski would be a nice add as well, although I'd consider him more of a plan B. We also need to ensure that Hronek is a fit for our lineup and doesn't Nate Schmidt on us. That said, I think we're in a decent position to take some major strides.
  5. For the first time in what seems like forever our developmental is actually doing what it's supposed to...develop players. I don't expect anybody currently in Abbotsford to become an elite talent, but I can legitimately see several Abby players filling out our bottom six over the next year or two and doing quite well. Hoglander, Raty, Karlsson, Klimovich, Bains, Nielsen. Of course not all of them will make it, but their development looks promising, and plugging some of them into the lineup will save us from having to spend in free agency to fill out the bottom 6, and hopefully, with a little luck, one or two of them will have enough offensive upside to displace a couple of our more expensive wingers.
  6. Indeed. Can't tank now unless you're willing to trade the core guys keeping us from tanking (Petey, Hughes, Demko). Might as well embrace the retool. Cope, seethe and mald.
  7. I think Garland still has enough value to trade for something tangible, assuming we retain. I don't think a Garland buyout is likely when OEL likely to be bought out at some point over the next few years.
  8. It's very possible that the team finishes around 85 points if they continue their level of play until the end of the season. Hell, they might even be better once Hronek finally suits up. Better start looking towards the middle of the first round, boys.
  9. I predict that we'll pass the Sabres, Red Wings and the Senators in the overall standings before the season is over. Plenty more fun to be had!! Go Canucks, Go!!!
  10. I was all aboard the Boeser trade train (and largely still am), but he's really been improving under Tocchet, who seems to think he can help him in the offseason. Considering the difference in production and the fact that we'll probably have to retain more on Boeser than Garland, I'm starting to lean towards moving Garland over Boeser. I'll add that I think Myers is as good as gone and that one of Livingstone (fingers crossed) or Malinski will be in the lineup.
