  1. Well, today is the day. Nothing is going to happen. But I can't help but hope. If there was ever a time we got lucky, today is the day.
  2. Same thing that happens to a few supposed two way guys. They realize they can score goals and the rest of their game disappears as they prioritize scoring. Which honestly is also not a dumb thing to do. If Bo were a two way guy giving us 15-20 goals and good defense and some truculence. He'd be a 7.5mil guy. His goal scoring exploded and now he is worth 8.5mil. Bo is a 30 goal guy, that's worth more than a two way 15-20 goal guy. Although it's starting to look like he might not even be a 30 goal guy, at least not with the Isles as they are currently built. When we drafted Bo it was expected he'd develop into a solid 2nd line guy that can play in all 3 zones. He became a guy that looks like he can only play in one, the rest of his game evaporates if he tries to play at a high level in all 3 zones. Somewhere along the way he decided defense and truculence are not it and became a really good goal scorer for us. Those players tend to be the most expensive. Didn't help we signed him to a contract that brought him to UFA status at a really bad time. Did we buy any of his UFA years? Seems like 1 at the most.
  3. Everyone wants BPA until some oversized pylon is around then they get hot and bothered by the size. Probably why people are still losing their minds over Tryamkin.
  4. I would be excited to hear how he handles getting chewed out by Miller.
  5. If CDC had it's way Tryamkin would already be in the RoH. Never have I ever seen someone get overrated this much in my life. Has anyone mentioned that Dhaliwal said the Canucks have shown no interest in Tryamkin? That was in late March. Can't see much having changed in that time.
  6. I honestly can't remember which side he played when he was here. But I know pretty much every management/coaching group we've had did not like playing players on their off side. Virtanen never got put on his off side much if at all despite playing it "exclusively" in Junior. We didn't do it with OEL and Hughes despite that being a big offseason talking point. Tryamkin is a 3rd pair guy, even if we did the thing we never do. He's not a top 4 RD solution. I'd argue he's not even a 3rd pair LD solution. But hey, maybe I am wrong.
  7. If he's a runner up playing on a team with the 9th worst GA in the league and the league worst PK. I dunno man. Seems like fan service to suggest he even belongs in the convo. I get it's a team game, but if you are the 2nd best defensive forward in the league, it should have some effect on team success.
  8. Could be worse, Tampa traded a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th for a guy they healthy scratched in their final game
  9. He's a LD. This idea he can play RD was made up by fans. I doubt we run Hughes RD either. Feel like we tried that already and given Tocchet preaches defense having an already meh defender playing their off side probably isn't happening.
  10. Nothing better to top off the first round other than a Bruins choke job. Well, more or less topped off. I know we have another game. But this is the one is pretty legendary. Florida needed like all 82 games to make the playoffs, and a Pittsburgh choke job. That's the team that knocked off the team with the greatest regular season ever. Lol. It's poetry.
  11. We still holding onto this man? Get out of the relationship. Jokes aside, we need to free cap and doing it to add a 3rd pair LD seems kind of stupid. Or are we still pretending we are going to buyout OEL and Tryamkin will actually fill that hole? Maybe we are stupid.
  12. 62% dzone starts for Bo in the playoffs. Remember that time we said he isn't a shutdown guy and needs to be played offensively? I honestly believed they could be LA 2.0. How laughable that became. If anyone wants to cook my takes, there you have it.
  13. Slow starts was an issue with Luongo as well, for as much as I love him that was an issue back then. Wonder if it's just a Vancouver thing. Lol. Our teams as a whole need to come in better. We can't keep sh*tting the bed in Oct-Jan and turn it on when the season is lost.
  14. Can't be worse than giving him one good forward line and an AHL blueline. Edit: Forgot to mention the 2 all star AHL tendies because our one good goalie got injured.
  15. Possible, but by September who is left to even use that cap space to acquire? If we're not moving him around July, I'd rather just hold onto him and move him at the TDL for an asset for ourselves. Instead of trading him with a 5th rounder in September just for cap space we can't use anyway. It's why I don't really see a Myers trade being feasible when we need it, unless we give up more assets than we should want to. Beau and Garland require no retention to move in June/July and they have no bonus standing in the way. I am pretty sure neither have NTCs either. All I know is we can move Garland and Beau around the draft/free agency we can free cap to fix our 3C and/or shutdown D issue. Then around the TDL we can move Myers for a 3rd rounder. It's not a case where only one of the three need to go, ideally all three need to go. It's just the order of them leaving that needs working out.
  16. Yes, but like they said. His bonus is paid in September. By then most teams will have their rosters more or less set. They won't be trading for 3-6mil cap hits in September. And like I said, they aren't gonna want to pay him that bonus. Not without incentive from us. There's a very deliberate reason his agent setup his contract this way. To prevent him from being traded, or at least make it a nightmare.
  17. The bonus matters for other teams trading for him though. Which is why it matters that it can't be paid til September. By then teams have their cap situation figured out. Which again, is why I don't think he gets moved til the deadline. It's easier to move Beau and Garland than just moving Myers. Contenders even at 3mil probably don't want Myers, nor do they want to pay his bonus. Bottom feeders hitting the cap want to do it as cheaply as possible. Again, his bonus is very expensive. They can hit the cap floor in cheaper ways. We can move him over the summer, but it'll cost us assets and not save us meaningful cap. Or we can move him at the deadline for positive value. All in all. We can move Beau and Garland much more easily than Myers and it won't cost us assets.
  18. Myers is looking less likely to be moved prior to the TDL. With his bonus being in the air as to whether it can be paid early or not (unless news has recently come out about it that I missed). Also not sure if we can move his entire cap. I feel comfortable saying we can move Garland and Beau's entire caps in an offseason trade. Myers likely only gets moved with retention. Hell, moving all 3 would be super nice. We can replace all of them from within and add a true shutdown defender and a proper 3c.
  19. Ideally we move both and use that cap for help on defence.
  20. Wait, we had 2 shortened seasons? How quickly I forget. In that case, a healthy Hronek hasn't hit 40 points. Still not sure how that equates to Bo Horvat money. He's not exactly a shutdown D either.
  21. Hronek literally can't be extended til this summer. So I doubt they ironed out an actual idea of an extension. Yzerman also said he wasn't shopping Hronek, sure he could be lying. Not sure what benefit he gets from it. What exactly are you basing the "he is looking for Bo money" claim on? Myers on the open market got 6x6m. That was on the heels of a 31 point and 36 point season. If we can't extend an often injured sub 40 point, RFA around/below 7mil I dunno. In 5 seasons he's only play more than 70 games once and has never hit 40 points. He could have this year, could have should have walla, walla, bing, bang.
  22. If only they did, maybe we would have taken Shea Theodore with the 24th pick. Or more likely Dickinson.
  23. I mentioned this before in regards to his points. I don't really put too much stock into it. Cause so few of his points are on the powerplay. If I recall, he had like 0 powerplay goals with us when I checked last time. On a side note, hard to find AHL stats without paying. So I could only find powerplay goals and not powerplay points. If he was a 1st unit powerplay guy (which I doubt he is because he had 3 powerplay goals with Bridgeport before coming here) and he was a minute muncher, those point totals would be worrying. But I can't find TOI stats. His shooting percentage is down and his shot totals are down. All I can do is speculate, but my guess is he is playing a lesser role in Abby comparatively speaking to his time in Bridgeport. Didn't even look like he was used much there either. Regardless, I don't think his offensive game needs work, I think the real meat and potatoes of his development is coming from the defensive side. He has all the tools to be a great two way 3rd line center. I am very curious about his development. I am probably gonna buy a AHL streaming package for next season. Given it's so hard to find in detail numbers. I'd rather pay to watch AHL games rather than pay to look at in-depth stats. Lol. Besides, we have a good number of intriguing prospects to watch too.
  24. I dunno if he bet on himself or if management wasn't sure how he'd respond to that concussion. He played 26 games prior to signing the bridge deal. That concussion likely cost us a lot of money. Giving him the Jack Hughes 8x8 would have been really nice instead of a bridge. He will get paid, and we're not even a playoff team yet.
