  1. "LAINE, YOU'RE 6'5. BLOCK A DAMN SHOT OR HIT SOMETHING" "Nooooooo "
  2. Rumors are they're after Babcock. I can't wait for Gaudreau to get some of that coaching love. Gonna wish he stayed in Calgary.
  3. Unfortunately the Miller trade proposals will only stop July 1st when his NMC kicks in. Day can't come soon enough. Every thread doesn't need to become a Miller armchair GM thread.
  4. That 2nd top 4 D-man they got was a UFA in like 3 weeks and they overpaid in cap for him. So if you're gonna tell a story tell it properly. Nobody would say "So Allvin got two top 4 d-men for a 1st and a 2nd" if he signed a top 4 UFA this summer. They traded a 3rd rounder for a guy they could have signed for no picks literally in 3 weeks. All this trade did was give Severson an extra year that he didn't even deserve. He's not worth 6.25mil imo. Especially at 8 years. Dude doesn't even deserve a 7 year contract.
  5. Werenski, Provorov and Bean on the left. Peeke and Severson on the right. That leaves Jiricek, Boqvist, Gudbranson, and Ceulemens. All fighting for that one remaining RHD spot. 25 year old RHD Bjork as well that sniffed some games last season. That's a lot of mouths to feed. We'll take Ceulemens off your hands. Garland+ to help bolster that RW spot that looks kinda weak.
  6. 6.25? Yeah no thanks. I'd like to thank CBJ for taking that bullet so we didn't end up doing so. But does this mean we can try take one of CBJ's young RD? They have like 3 intriguing guys there.
  7. Dahlin was a stud last season. Better than Hughes even. Would be cool if Petey signed this exact contract. Ngl.
  8. Guy seen what Horvat got in a contract year from the team that traded for him and he wants a piece of that pie. Lol. The worst kept secret is Dubois wants to test free agency. It's clear he is chasing the bag, yet some want us to target this guy? For what? Let some other team over pay for him in assets and cap.
  9. Canucks' fanbase - Roasts Boeser to the high heavens Also the Canucks' fanbase - Wow nobody wants to trade for Boeser? We aren't the brightest bunch that's for sure. I still think he has value to us as a player. He has been one of the few players to actually evolve their game. His skating isn't elite, but he's not a slug. He added better playmaking and a more aggressive forecheck to his game. And in a down year still almost managed 20 goals. He's become a very solid all around guy. I get that his near 7mil cap hit isn't ideal. I'd rather him closer to 5.5mil. But I still like him. We are short on right handed shots in the top 6. Both of our centers are lefties. Mikheyev who plays RW on occasion is a lefty. Thankfully Kuzy is a righty. But I like him as a player and even more as a person.
  10. If you're right, I will be very happy. I am curious what kind of retention it'd take to trade him without giving up a pick or a prospect. I still think even with his Worlds showing, 6mil is a pretty massive price tag for a might be top 4, more likely a top 6 D-man. Especially with that bonus that we still don't know if it can be paid sooner than September. That bonus is the major cloud over a trade, not so much his trade value.
  11. I never said you need to score to be a top 4 D. But scoring does lead to more money. We see bad defensive players make bank all the time. Rarely do we see great defenders make bank without also bringing good offensive output. He's already a great defender, even if he improved on that I don't see him breaking 6-7+mil without also adding 40+ points a season to his game. Which is possible I suppose. He had 33 once upon a time.
  12. Cap going up doesn't necessarily equate to everyone making more money, it usually means the stars make more money. The middle tier guys will see a slight bump, but most of the raised cap money will continue going to the superstars.
  13. Betting on himself is weird in this scenario, does he think he can become a 40+ point guy that also provides good defense? He has already solidified himself as a good if not great defender. Why not just take the 5mil on a long term deal? Unless like I said, he feels he can break out offensively. Which, I mean. I guess, seems risky though. Lol.
  14. I am not against this for the right price. 5x5mil would be decent. But as a free agent he may get more elsewhere. His numbers are decent all around. With the exception of his giveaways. But with Hughes as the primary puck handler I'd guess those numbers go down for Severson. The only issue is the giraffe. Do we run Myers as a 7th D? Do we let Bear just walk?
  15. Dollar looks hefty, but it's probably cause it's only 2 years.
  16. Yo we are heated up in here. It's okay to have different opinions. One isn't right and one isn't wrong. This may work out, it may not. There's historical evidence both ways. Lol. Lets just focus on what matters, how does this signing affect Lebron I mean the Cowboys. Wait no, one more time. The Leafs. Yeah that's it.
  17. I want to say Pittsburgh, but they are divisional rivals and there's only one deal left on Hart's contract. Something tells me they want someone with a little more term.
  18. Personally, I'd like to at least see one great season that isn't shortened by a major injury. But hey, that's why I am just a dude on the internet. Enjoy that view on your pedestal though.
  19. Ngl, this is kinda gross. It's a gamble, might age great. I wouldn't feel comfortable making this gamble though. Dude's never hit 50 points and had a pretty major injury this season if I recall correctly.
  20. Facial features don't look too aged, feel like the grey hair is doing the heavy lifting in terms of making Linden look aged. He looks really good honestly. Modano's facial features look a bit droopy and his complexion is a 180 from where it was in his playing days. Linden seems like a bit of a gym rat. My guess is Modano is enjoying the finer things in life as he aged. Nothing wrong with that. But yeah, I personally feel like Linden has aged much better than Modano. They are both 50 years old, it's about that time where aging really kicks in. My mother looked 20 up until she hit 50. Then aging caught up. Although if she didn't drink and smoke she'd probably still look super young. I dunno, none of this really matters. Summer just started and we're already falling short on hockey topics. Lol.
  21. I know people are going to want Dubois, but lets not forget he said he wanted to test free agency after his contract expires. Dollars to donuts are he'd rather be in Montreal than Vancouver. I'd rather just wait til free agency and give him a couple calls and see what he's after. Scheifele is a name I'd be interested in if anything. I feel he's more likely to re-sign without testing free agency. But we gotta beware of a Horvat situation. If we give up a haul for him, his agent is gonna smell blood in the water. If people thought we left value on the table in the Horvat trade, imagine trading say Miller for 1 season of Scheifele. Or if we traded for him and were forced to pay him way more than we are paying Miller if we traded Miller for Scheifele. The idea we can just trade for Scheifele and flip him for assets is dumb too. Our management has already said they're not rebuilding. So they're not gonna trade Miller who has term for a guy with no term just to flip him for a 1st rounder and a B prospect. Which is what you're gonna get for a rental Scheifele. This isn't EA, that scenario is not happening. Honestly, targeting their expiring deals isn't worth the squeeze if you ask me. I'd rather reach out in the offseason and see what kind of market there is. And even then, Scheifele is 30 years old, will be 31 next summer. He doesn't fit our timeline. I am curious what they might get for them in a trade though. I think it's a mistake not to embrace a rebuild. But I guess they don't want to waste Ehlers, Morrissey and Connor's primes. I can see why they want to do a retool. It's just hard to get players to want to commit to Winnipeg. That's why drafting them is their best chance.
  22. 23 this year, getting close to the age where he either peaked or can make a real move towards the NHL. This is gonna be a big season coming for him.
  23. If skating is the name of the game, not sure how Lucic fits. Is he a depth guy that just slots in against teams with a lot of tougher players?
  24. Anaheim or Chicago if they want to keep icing beer league teams for high draft picks too. The ass teams of the league that want to ice garbo players. They should have some self respect and suck like us, by accident.
