People don't realize player's caps increase with the increase in cap. We don't just magically get more cap when it goes up. Players get more money.

Hard to do when we're trading all our high end picks. We drafted in the 1st and 2nd round twice in 3 years. Lol. In 2020 we didn't draft in the 1st or 2nd round. 2021 we only drafted in the 2nd round, and 2022 we only drafted in the 1st round. So we traded our 1st rounder twice in 3 years and our 2nd rounder twice in 3 years. We also traded 2nd rounders this year and next year. So how exactly are we gonna get 3 to 4 ELC players from purely 3rd round and beyond. Not every 1st rounder hits. All these 1st and 2nd rounders traded, and we are a lottery team.

This buyout makes sense. IF WE WERE COMMITTING TO A REBUILD. Another decade of mediocrity. I can feel it.

For sure, not arguing that I'd rather have those picks. Although, technically I would. I was pro-rebuild. But as far as retool trades go, this was a damn fine one. It just sucks we're still 3 great pieces away from contending. That's after the trade. But the trade in isolation is a great trade.

We had some good ones, that's for sure.

I love the Hronek acquisition, but 60 point d-man? He has proven that about as well as Gulyayev has proven to be an NHLer. He has never hit 40 points, let alone 60. Injury excuse doesn't fly here, otherwise Boeser is a 30 goal guy cause he was on pace to do it his rookie year and his second year.

Don't bother with Alf, his schtick has become rather annoying tbh. Just makes me miss Apollo.

New Jersey has a good mix of players around Bratt, so he doesn't need to be nor is he asked to do the net presence stuff. Cup winning teams are made up of all kinds of players. Not just 6'5 guys all slugging each other in the crease. Tampa had Point and Kucherov. Their lack of size didn't seem to hurt Tampa's cup chances. May as well just trade Kuzmenko and Hughes. They don't have size. Petey too, given he's a stick figure. Not strong enough to get to the front of the net.

Feel like scoring matters in the playoffs too. Something he's pretty good at.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't even think it's possible for Petey to extend yet. So is there any reason why this would fool anyone?

That Jack Hughes contract is a godsend. I've said it a few times, but it's great when your star player is on a great contract. Cause it's the baseline for the players that follow. "How can we justify paying you more than Jack?" There go the negotiations. Bratt can hold out obviously. Make a stink, force his way out. But I mean, why? Just make nearly 8mil playing with one of the most dynamic centers in the NHL. Can't help but be a bit of a Devils fan with Hughes, Hughes, Mercer, Marino, Sieganthaler, Haula, and Bratt. A lot of players I really like.

If nobody wants Garland I can't see why anyone would want Mantha. Dude is 4 seasons removed from the last time he had 20 goals, he never had a 50 point season. He is straight trash. Even with an expiring contract there's no value in giving up assets for him.

Don't try dissuade the slower portion of the fanbase with facts. It's futile.

25 years old, 60% faceoff, right handed, would plug that 3rd line center hole we have. He also had 39% ozone starts, so he was primarily used defensively. It's a shame we have a worse cap situation than them though. Lol. We need to move cap to be cap compliant.

Boeser has 311 points in 398 games, yet we continuously roast his ass around here as a floater

Severson name dropped us to drum up interest in himself. Looks like it worked. But yeah, there was apparently no interest from our side to sign him. Although I wasn't against it, til I seen the cap and term. Oof.

I have never envied a bad team as much as I envy CBJ. Embarrassment of riches in the RHD department. Must be nice to actually draft d-men with 1st rounders.

Truuuuue, I keep forgetting Jiricek is still a teenager. There's literally no rush for Ceulemans or Jiricek. Both can play in the A if need be.

Move Boqvist, slap Ceulemens in the A, and ride Gudbranson as a 7D? Very likely. But, still gonna hope we can pry Peeke or Ceulemens outta CBJ.

Montreal has no reason to do this. Beyond the reasons you stated, I am pretty sure they can sign Dubois for no assets beyond money next summer. Dubois is an RFA with arbitration this summer.

If they don't like Peeke, I don't mind taking him off their hands. Guy played 21 minutes a game last season, 38% ozone starts. He almost had 200 blocks. Yes, 197 BLOCKS. That's frickin' insane. Tanev at the height of his defensive powers wasn't blocking that much. Lol. That's on top of adding 180 hits. If we loved Schenn, we'd love Peeke. Slap him next to Hughes, Hronek and OEL. Starting to not hate our blueline. At the very least, if he doesn't work out on the top pair he's a great 3rd pair guy that can PK.
