  1. Playing in the equivalent of the ECHL. Let's see what he can do in the SHL or AHL before getting too excited.
  2. Dr. Mark Recchi https://ca.sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-puck-daddy/hilarious-mark-recchi-listed-dr-mark-recchi-sportsnet-070227092.html
  3. This is my sentiment exactly. Look to comeback next October and go from there - he needs to get over this completely if possible at this point. It appears the Canucks need to play at least 0.600 hockey at a minimum (31 wins in 51 games) to make the playoffs this year. This years draft is supposed to be very deep at the top end. So maybe missing the playoffs this year is not the end of the world. There are a few players that may be "surprise" options for roster spots next year as well - Madden, Hoglander, Lind, Podkolzin (long shot I know he has a contract), Tryamkin, Rathbone, Rafferty, Juolevi...... Plus they may be able to offload a contract or two before the trade deadline this year. It may be a good reset year in preparation for next year. The prospect pool deepens and matures, options materialize, the Canucks pick in the first round of a deep draft and "maybe" (oh please Santa I have been relatively good for the most part I think) a little housecleaning. I know..........
  4. Loui sat in the press box because there were better on ice options. Injuries put him back on the ice. Unfortunately for Loui the Canucks forward group is getting healthy. There will be no room for him here unless he takes the spot of another player more deserving.
  5. Not far off in my opinion. If Bettman is one thing he is controlling. This way the league can get ahead of these things and manage the situation - he hates not having control. There is a need to get this under control absolutely - but it will be situational like all things NHL. It will partly depend on who you are and who you work for - just like the DOPS. Man if I am a Coach right now I am a little nervous about everything I say and do and who doesn't like me on my roster. As someone pointed out above - the players will/should be next. This will get interesting. Just like Jerry Springer.
  6. Well if the side deal includes him collecting another $3 Million dollar well earned bonus next July and going away fine. If not then I don't see the point.
  7. My post was based on how it will all fit - post LTIR with NHL contracts - with a 23 man roster.
  8. You may be surprised. At least I hope you are. More likely Schaller or Motte because Loui has been on fire lately and does a lot of the little things no one can see or quantify Schaller may get picked up based on his play and expiring contract that would give them some cap relief. I don't think TG wants to lose Motte.
  9. Below is with Eriksson waived and demoted. Works with either Schaller or Motte as well. Potential bonuses will be the only issue.
  10. It does appear that so far this season for whatever reason (defending a lead most often) they have been out shot in third periods. Losing if they have a lead is a bit blown out of proportion. Based on their first period shot and goal totals they understand the importance of the first goal and it indicates they are ready to play. Defending a lead is an important thing to learn - all championship teams need this tool in the tool box.
  11. More than just his game Miller brings a calming leadership and accountability quality. Great to have him as one of the leadership group. I wonder if they had waited to name a Captain how much consideration he would be getting at this point? Bo was the right choice but Miller would not be a bad choice to this point.
  12. Maybe in the playoffs. I think they need to keep his minutes reasonable. It's a long season and his first to boot.
  13. Dahlen wasn't good enough and may never be. Don't blame everyone else because he was too immature to deal with it. That's what he did and now he is in Sweden and may have hurt his chances if he did want to return. Loui isn't suitable for the new NHL. My concern is he is causing the team that paid him to perform (which he isn't/can't) cap problems instead of paying players who can perform and deserve to play. He isn't relaxed? He is competitive - he has never looked relaxed. 94 points in 94 games. Does McDavid ever look relaxed? Crosby? Smashed the record books? What are you even trying to say? So if TG played him on wing he would have broken all the records for rookie players and then would be groomed to be a dominant center? Do you read what you have typed before you hit submit?
  14. Oh that's right I was trying to place you. You are the person who blamed everyone else (including the coach) except the player when Dahlen couldn't make it in the AHL and headed back to second tier hockey in Sweden. Now the coach is responsible for the fact LE can't keep up with the speed of the game, has only scored 76 points in 208 games while being paid $28 Million for his efforts. Pettersson is 8th in the league in scoring for forwards this year. He has 94 points in 94 games played under TG. I will take TG's approach over your ridiculous attempt to blame the coach for the fact LE is done in this league.
  15. Let this sink in please. This is his second year in the league. He is 21. The only thing I would say is he could help himself by shooting more when he has the chance rather than looking for the pass. That isn't the coaches fault.
  16. I think the Leaf's star players stopped playing for each other more than they stopped playing for Babcock it just falls on him as the first scapegoat. There are too many me first players on that roster and in particular a few of their top players. I kind of feel bad for Tavares as I think he genuinely went their to help them win - although it is Toronto so..... He could have gotten his money anywhere. I don't see how an AHL coach will reign in those egos. Matthews is probably hoping he gets traded to Arizona. Dubas is hoping that he doesn't get discovered for what he is - a wunderkind that was given the keys to Fort Knox and threw a frat party. I imagine Dubas is hoping he can clean up this mess before Mom and Dad get home and the **** really hits the fan. Is it bad that I am really enjoying this? Keefe and Dubas have been linked for a while. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kyle_Dubas
  17. Bingo, I had the feeling Dubas and Babcock were in a p***ing match and one had to go. Dubas piled up the mess and Babcock was supposed to shovel it. Shanahan announced the winner (or loser depending only time will tell)
  18. It appears the Canucks are not happy about it either. No one said this will change but I do not have to agree with it or like it - it smells. https://theprovince.com/sports/hockey/ben-kuzma-no-cap-recapture-relief-for-canucks-after-panthers-hire-roberto-luongo https://theprovince.com/sports/hockey/so-called-luongo-rule-petty-vindictive-counterintuitive-and-cute
  19. If my opinion is nonsense I guess that can be said for any of yours. I guess in a sense then this is really all nonsense. Like your obsessive haikuish nonsense which is actually quite annoying. However, I won't tell you to stop. It appears it gives you some sort of pleasure. Carry on.
  20. The below makes a total mockery of the NHL cap system yet the Canucks get retroactively hammered for negotiating a contract that was not outside the parameters of the existing agreement. Ottawa has over $20 Milllion in cap for players not even playing so they can make the cap floor. Disgusting. Loui would fit Ottawa's model - the Value Village of the NHL - depends what they want I guess. I am surprised Jimmy Hoffa isn't on this list.
  21. https://www.cbssports.com/fantasy/hockey/news/canucks-micheal-ferland-not-traveling-with-team/
  22. Depends if they make them. The luongo/Eriksson effect are crippling $9 Million.
