  1. I'm hoping they add some good prospects and young players in the trades, and then add more good prospects at the Draft. When Petey hits his prime in 3 years, and Bo is 30, Podkolzin had Hoglander have developed further, Hughes is poised to win a Norris, maybe the Canucks even have a new, young goalie to backup Demko. I just think this team needs a bit more than a couple of minor tweaks to really compete. It might take 3-4 years, but I'm okay with that if they do it right.
  2. Miller, Garland and OEL or Myers will be traded Boeser will re-sign, at a discount? ($7) Bo will take a discount and re-sign ($6.5) Chiasson, Lockwood, Highmore and Hunt will be re-signed If they re-sign Miller, then I'll lose some confidence in this management group. It should be about the future, and not winning now. Sure, Miller has had a couple of real good years - but that's HAD. If they re-sign JT long term, then the future of this team will have a slow and lacking effort veteran who makes too much and has years left on his term. Remind you of anyone? (it rhymes with Pooey Scariksson) No thanks.
  3. There is no way VAN acquires even one of the Hughes bros from NJ, let alone both. VAN doesn't have anything close in value to give back (no prospects), unless you consider trading Pettersson and Demko +++
  4. Would you do: to NJ: Hughes to VAN: Severson, Holtz, Smith, 1st (2023) I'd maaaaybe think about it, the Devils would have to overpay big time. Not even sure this would do it. Hughes is a very special player
  5. Sorry, I can't feel sorry for Chris Pronger and his millionaire athlete friends. Maybe half of them are broke in retirement because they never managed their money.
  6. I wonder if Boeser's agent and Allvin have been talking. Could be that management says "We can offer Brock $6.75 over X years, and if he declines, then we'll need to re-sign and move him due to cap constraints". It would be up to Brock whether he continues to play in VAN.
  7. I'd love to get Dobson, but I doubt they let him go. Miller - 86 points (29 goals) in 72 games....but he's 29 Barzal - 49 points (14 goals) in 63 games...and he's 25 (could fit with young core) Just looking at this, I think NYI would have to actually add.
  8. NYI are going to be left out, but they're in a really tough division. to NYI - Miller and 1st (say #13) to VAN - Barzal, 1st (say #14) Would you? Edit - the 1sts might actually be irrelevant here. Maybe this is just a player-for-player trade
  9. Some of Pettersson's passes lately have been amazing. That last split second dish to Richardson against Vegas was so smart and perfect. I noticed in that game as well that Petey was throwing the body, handing out several hits. He's not afraid to go in the dirty areas, and I think once he puts on 15-20 lbs of muscle, he'll be a force. Imagine Pettersson, Podkolzin and Hughes all in their prime. Management really needs to surround these guys with the right players, get them into the playoffs.
  10. I agree, a stud RDman for the Top pairing in a few years. Trading down could be the smart play, especially if they can nab Miroschnichenko late.
  11. Wow, I didn't know that, thanks Maybe they're not the best trading partner
  12. Cernak or Sergachev and their 1st (2023)?
  13. I can kind of see VAN drafting at #15 (if they don't win a lottery spot), so if they traded the #15 and Miller? Not sure how far up that would get them, but if say, CBJ or NYI miss the playoffs and win a lottery spot (e.g. #2), they might be interested in acquiring Miller to help them get in and do some damage the following season. Miller's contract for 2022/23 is still very good. Geez, VAN could use some good lottery luck, for once.
  14. Not Podz! I would be fine if it was Miller or Garland though
  15. VAN has had an inferiority complex for a long time, maybe since the beginning, losing that #1 pick to BUF. Always chasing. They came close (SCF) 3 times in 52 years. Doesn't seem like a great record. 52 years is a long time. Henrik and Daniel used to say they want to play the right way, but maybe the right way is how teams like BOS, TB and PIT play - every player plays hard every game. Or building an exciting young team like CAR. Look at what DET, BUF, ANA, LA, NJ etc are doing - tons of good prospects developing. Canucks are way behind, because they mortgaged the future to try and compete now. Silly. They have nothing in the prospect pool, other than another small mobile Dman. They have some very good pieces already in place, but they need more high end younger guys Horvat, Pettersson, Boeser, Podkolzin, Hoglander, Lockwood Hughes, Dermott, Burroughs Demko
  16. yeah, not really a fan of the person either, but I can only hope that was because he was immature, back then the Canucks had this "rule" about video games, and Laine made some comments. In hindsite, banning video games was silly. These guys are millionaire professionals. Laine is a goal scorer, and maybe playing with Petey and Podz would even increase his production.
  17. I don't think this would ever happen, that's a lot of cap for CBJ to take on, but I like the idea of getting one or two of CBJs prospects. Maybe a deal could be done there? CBJ will want to take another step next year. to CBJ: Miller to VAN: (RFA) Laine and Cuelemans Canucks apparently don't have a superstar, so maybe this is how they get one Laine - Pettersson - Podkolzin Could be formidable
  18. The Province did a piece on Allvin on Sunday, April 3, and in it he is quoted as saying "We have some good players here in place, I think every single player down there in the room has something to prove. We don't have the superstar. We're not a contending team right now."
  19. yeah, I know, I'm feeling a little bitter this morning I think Miller is a very good player, but unless he's willing to accept $7.5 for no more than 5 years, then I say trade him. Get some good prospects in the system. There are none, unless you count Rathbone. Petey, Podz and Hughes - these are the guys to build around IMO
  20. Canucks are going to take out their frustration on the Yotes, with giving the Knights that point. 7-1 Canucks Podkolzin GWG
  21. I wouldn't give him that much credit. Demko has been the saviour. I know Miller has been very good all year, but he's older, and runs out of gas quick. I hope they don't go in that direction.
  22. Another no-show game for Miller. He was awful, the giveawyas, the lack of effort to backcheck. Looks like "Travis Green" Miller to me. Does he smoke? ....'cause his cardio is rough, out of gas fast and then he coasts. Or maybe he's just old. Vegas wouldn't have gotten their point if Miller showed up. Do Not re-sign him
  23. I think JR and Allvin have been very patient, assessing the team and the coaching staff. They never made any big changes at the TDL, but my guess is it's because they wanted to see what this group could do, and they could assess further. There was no rush. I have a feeling the off season is going to be very busy for them, and they're going to make big changes, put their stamp on the team. They'll have a new identity, and be a younger, fast and aggressive team. I think they'll also bring in Rikard Gronborg to become the new head coach. Nothing against Bruce, he's awesome, but they might be thinking long-term with this new young core they're going to assemble.
