  1. When Miller is on he's a deadly scorer and playmaker, but he doesn't really get involved with the physical stuff. I thought Bo would be a physical player, with his stocky build, but no. He's a nice boy. Myers could crush opponents, but he's the Friendly Giant. His specialty is taking penalties. The only tough guy on the team makes under $800K and is in his 30s. So much work to do. Garland Hoglander Rathbone Hunt all Smurfs
  2. "shoulder shrug" Boeser should be traded for a RD. Miller is almost 30 and some games looks like he's 40. Real good player, but not the future IMO. Get a haul of young players and picks.
  3. Who do they build around? Miller Horvat Pettersson They have 4 years before Demko's contract expires.....tic toc
  4. I'd settle for a Top 10 pick, and I'd be ecstatic with a lottery win. This win one lose one stuff is silly. They aren't a serious team, not built for serious play yet. Garland getting tossed around like a rag doll. Hunt running for his life. Not a playoff team yet. Allvin will fix this broken clunker over the summer.
  5. Winnable game, and the best players didn't show up. They won't make the playoffs, not with that lazy effort. Sure, they might be tired of the road, it's tough getting chauffered around and fed by chefs, staying in the comfiest best hotels. That's rough. Miller wants $9?
  6. Can't blame Halak for this game, the stars are playing like garbage. I'm looking at this team wondering who they could even build around. There's no one, the Canucks need a #1 overall pick. A real difference maker who provides energy and hope every game for years. Miller's okay, but he's kinda old, just look at him out there.
  7. Things must be tense in the Smith household. Yikes. No jokey-joke allowed. I thought Will Smith was supposed to be funny, once. Considering there were millions of people watching (and a lot of them children), Smith's reaction was pretty disgusting. He was trying to be valiant in front of his wife, but he could've handled it a lot better, like shouting back "We're going to talk about this after Chris". Maybe Rock would've shut up. Keep it private.
  8. Zibanejad is good comparison, but I certainly hope that's not the term they're giving Miller. 8 years at $8.5 for a 29 year old player? I'd go as high as 6 years at $8.5 (or 5 years at $9), but Miller might still want to play in the US and he may ask for the maximum to play in VAN. That's a heck of a commitment for a player, I've seen on many occasions, just give up on plays. Tough call. I think the GMs are planning the core, who to build the team around. Could this be it? Miller and Horvat - Leaders, top scorers and Top 6Cs Pettersson, Podkolzin, Hoglander - Top 6 wingers Lammikko, Highmore, Lockwood - Bottom 6 OEL and Schenn - Veteran Ds Hughes, Dermott and Rathbone - young Ds Demko Trade: Boeser, Garland, Pearson, Dickinson, Myers, Poolman - Fortify the D, add young players (another Top 6 winger) and picks FA - add to Bottom 6, add backup goalie (or go with Martin), add depth
  9. I agree, somewhat. They can't look ahead to the home games. It's all about winning tonight. Maybe Halak will play really well the rest of the way, but if STL gets ahead by 3, he's gotta be yanked. Canucks need to score first, that always helps.
  10. Geez, Boudreau showing a lot of faith in Halak, after that win in COL. I hope he's right about this one.
  11. EDM - 16 games left, 77 pts VAN 15 games left, 73 pts Everyone's focused on DAL, VGK, STL and WPG, but VAN actually has a good chance of catching EDM for that 3rd spot in the Pacific. As long as they beat out EDM, they're in. Two difference makers the Oilers just don't have: Demko and Boudreau
  12. They have decisions to make, and it could be these. My choices underlined, with approx salaries Miller ($9) or Horvat ($7) OEL ($7.25) or Myers ($6) Boeser ($7) or Garland ($5) ...added to: Pettersson, Podkolzin, Hoglander, Lammikko, Highmore, Lockwood, Hughes, Dermott, Schenn, Burroughs, Rathbone and Demko. I think Pearson, Dickinson and Poolman will also be traded.
  13. I agree, really sharp. Or, what if it was that logo on the current jerseys, but in blue and green? I think that would be a lot better than the current orca design.
  14. Biggest game of the year Win, and there's a chance Lose, and it's over (maybe not technically, but it basically would be) I think they can pull it off and get the W, as long as Miller gets at least 2 points
  15. Love those old photos: the super straight stick blades, those gloves that practically covered the forearms.
  16. My first Top 10 of the Draft, how exciting 1. Wright 2. Cooley 3. Slafkovsky 4. Nemec 5. Jiricek 6. Savoie 7. Geekie 8. Nazar 9. Lekkerimaki 10. Korchinski I'm not sure Canucks get one of these guys, but you never know. There's only 16 games left and they're going to start calling up prospects soon (Lockwood), could drop a few spots. And then there's that elusive lottery win, which this franchise desperately needs.
  17. Never really gave it much thought, but the Canucks had to play back-to-back games in COL and MIN. Two of the best/toughest teams in the league in their buildings. Contenders, and one of them might even win it all. The Canucks held both teams to 3 goals against combined (in regulation), and walked away with 3 out of 4 points. That's damn good. JR/PA have some decisions, but maybe the Canucks aren't that far off from being a playoff team (next year most likely). As long as they have Miller and Horvat leading the offence, anyway.
  18. VGK has gotten progressively worse each year. They started at the top (SCF) with 109 pts, then the next year 93 pts, then 86, then 82 and so far have 74 this year. They'll probably miss the playoffs for the first time, and could be a bottom feeder in a couple of years. I am a fan of this.

    2. Brad Marchand

      Brad Marchand

The Knights treat their loyal players like commodities and expect to be able to withstand injuries when they're forced to jettison their depth to chase after the shiniest new toy. They deserve everything that they're getting right now.

    3. Ballisticsports.

      Ballisticsports.

It was bound to happen with aging players while drafting late and no notable ELC players to insert

      p.s.

Not a fan of there halloween gimicky helmets either

    4. Dazzle

      Dazzle

It's shocking to know that the lack of drafted players/depth would have implications on a team's future performance. It's almost like we've seen this type of situation happen before...

  19. I don't know, I can't get that image of Pettersson taking that punch to the face by Larkin, with zero response from him. Didn't even try to defend himself at all. I think this could be telling. What if that was the SCF? Holy Daniel Sedin flashbacks.
  20. These are good games, gives management a real good idea of what they have. They'll figure out who will form the new core in the off season and make improvements. I think the Canucks need to get bigger and faster, able to stand up to any team physically. When OEL is the go-to tough guy to jump in and save the day, there's a problem. Wouldn't that be wild if they didn't trade Bo or Miller, but these guys instead, to get tougher and meaner. Pettersson Garland Boeser I feel that Myers also needs to be traded. He makes too much and the refs just love to give him head shot penalties after legal hits. The guy is a giant, but he won't fight.
  21. You can wish for him to be traded, but Demko will be here for many years. Look at the Leafs and Oilers. Canucks are lucky to Have Demko.
  22. After last night's impressive win in Colorado, I wonder if Leafs management are kicking themselves for not trading for Halak. If Jaro is back to his former self, the Canucks could have two very good goaltenders down the stretch, and dare I say, playoffs.
  23. Great win, played a full 60 minutes. Halak was great, really happy for him, and tonight the team gets a fresh Demko against MIN. The refs tried, COL had 5 PPs and could only muster 1 goal. That non-call charging hit on Highmore was ridiculous. What would the refs do if that was Schenn crushing their precious Makar? A-holes. Big win, Calgary now looks like the favourite, better than those chumps in Colorado Moving on, let's go beat the Wild
  24. Interesting, what Allvin has to say about Hamonic: "He's a good hockey player and a great person". So, I wonder about these rumours that Canucks players were thrilled to get rid of him
  25. Multiple Canucks players? Miller Horvat OEL Myers ? I'm bored
