  1. I can't thank you enough for posting this...I'd quite forgotten all about it so it's been flashback time!
  2. @Gollumpus Oh what memories this brings back. My Dad had the Marty Robbins - More Greatest Hits (1961) album back in the day and we knew all the songs forwards and backwards and inside out! There was a bit of a warp in the outer edge so we learned to sing 'Don't Worry' complete with the warp floop in it! Even now, we still do it and the album is in my collection of vinyl. One of my favourite Marty Robbins songs songs ever...Saddle Tramp
  3. How did I ever miss that Michel Pagliaro is Canadian? You'd think that with the mandate for Canadian content on radio back in the day that I should have known! Thank you for reminding me of this song and 'reintroducing' me to a fabulous Canadian artist long after the fact!! I'm rather hooked on a loop with this one below, right now!
  4. Actually, quite the reverse is true but then I don't expect those who were routinely bested by Wetcoaster to actually see it.
  5. I can't tell you how much I love this!! I'd only ever heard it by Roger Whittaker before which of course was very slow and measured....this is AMAZING!!
  6. I first saw this movie in Portugal! There was no volume as the movie was subtitled in Portuguese. I was blown away on returning to Canada to discover this song was so captivating and who knew...Nat King Cole??
  7. And this song is the second one I would have posted...it touches a place so deep inside that there are no words...Thank you for sharing it, D!!
  8. Yes, yes, a million times yes....I first saw The Dark Island and not the Mary Duff.....so was thinking I'd quote and post her version, which to me is the ONLY version of this that bears listening to....but here you are already with it. I am astounded someone else here actually knows this song at all considering it's origins. My Scottish grandfather used to sing this to my sister and I when we were wee girls and it never fails to elicit tears no matter what mood I am in when I start listening...it's a homesickness and longing that aches. Thank you for posting it!!
  9. B.J. Thomas, the Grammy-winning singer who enjoyed success on the pop, country and gospel charts with such hits as “I Just Can’t Help Believing,” “Raindrops Keep Fallin’ On My Head” and “Hooked on a Feeling,” has died. He was 78. Thomas, who announced in March that he had been diagnosed with lung cancer, died from complications of the disease Saturday at his home in Arlington, Texas, his publicist Jeremy Westby said in a statement. A Hugo, Oklahoma-native who grew up in Houston, Billy Joe Thomas broke through in 1966 with a gospel-styled cover of Hank Williams’ “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry” and went on to sell millions of records and have dozens of hits across genres. He reached No. 1 with pop, adult contemporary and country listeners in 1976 with ″(Hey Won’t You Play) Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song.” The same year, his “Home Where I Belong” became one of the first gospel albums to be certified platinum for selling more than 1 million copies. 10. RIP B.J. Thomas ~ August 7, 1942 - May 29, 2021
  11. In an attempt to purge an earworm......April Wine!
  12. Sounds like the less-than-10 Covidiots that showed up to protest in front of the museum in Quesnel yesterday.
  13. TOTALLY with you on this. I have not seen my elderly mother in almost 2 years and she is, sadly, slowly failing. She lives in another health authority at the coast. I have followed every single bloody protocol in order to do my part....and in order to protect others from ME. And then, people I know well have flouted the PHOs.....done EXACTLY as they've pleased, thumbing their noses at requests from government....jumping the queues for vaccinations...... had company come from Alberta....... have rolled their eyes at me when I refuse an invitation to a birthday party being held indoors.. I am so &^@#ing sick of self-entitled assholes who seem to think that they have no responsibilities in this. Either to themselves or to others...and not even strangers, but members of their family who may not be so healthy or without comorbidities. I fully support a vaccine passport....100%....but it needs to be full proof and unable to to faked...OMG...now we're back to something in the vaccine that they could scan us for that will say if we've been vaccinated or not...cue the conspiracy theories! Keep our borders closed until we are at LEAST 75% vaccinated as is the country of origin from which visitors would enter. AND they must show proof of vaccination... BOTH doeses. We're ALL tired of this pandemic.....but it is absolutely disheartening to watch people refusing to do their part so we can all get out of this as quickly and safely as possible. If nothing else, it truly has been a study in human nature, this past 14 months....People I would never have thought would (or could) act so selfishly have proven that they can....and others have gone way over the top to ensure that they and those they love remain safe and COVID-free.
  14. Been there, done that. Remained healthy for over 6 years and when I called to make an appointment was told I was no long a patient there despite having been one of the first patients in that clinic when it first opened it's doors 20 years earlier. I was beside myself so asked for my medical records so I could transfer to a doctor in another clinic only to be told that my records had been destroyed due to my lack of appointments. Like you, I absolutely refused to be put off...how is it legal to 'destroy' someone's medical records without even attempting to contact them? How is it that healthy patients are being 'punished' for remaining healthy and not clogging up the system with useless or frivolous appointments? In a time when doctors (as we were, here in the North) were hard to recruit and the remaining ones were refusing to take on 'new' patients, what is a person to do? Needless to say, I remain a patient at my original clinic.... and it's sad indeed that we must 'fight' to retain our medical records and place at a clinic because we're 'too healthy'. It boggles the mind, the lack of logic involved. Didn't mean to derail the convo.....it's just that the post I've responded to hit very close to home.
  15. Old school country... I've always believed that the above version was the BEST one there is (sorry, Tom T Hall) but this one below is the one that seems to have tied for that top spot. I had no idea Roseanne Cash and Johnny had recorded it as well! My new earworm....
  16. I have a friend (Northern Health region) who kinda jumped the queue and registered by phone over a month ago before the online registration system went online. She's 64. So when she hadn't heard anything from them, she called them after her age group was announced and others in her age group who had registered online and already received their first vaccination..... and was told by some vaguely snotty person on the other end of the line to be patient and wait for a phone call.this was almost 2 weeks ago. So...she STILL has not had heard a word yet scads of people in her age group who registered online had their vaccination shots over 12 days ago. There's something really screwed up with the phone registration system in that she's still waiting for a call back yet people younger than her who registered online have already had their first shots. And she's not the first one who has run into this situation.
  17. You betcha! I'm a Half-Vaxxer!! (Have only had the first dose and it was Moderna. Just a sore arm that showed up about 6 hours after the shot and was gone again within 36 hours without even needing a pain killer. Have had a few days of feeling 'foggy' and tired but that could be the seasonal allergies. Wouldn't you know the vaccine and allergy season showed up together!
  18. Hearing Sophie so choked up on the news last night trying to report this story just did me in. I've always been very aware of what this virus does to people and families but this just made my soul cry. HOW can some people not understand that this virus takes no prisoners..it doesn't care if you're a dad, a mom, a teenager, a child....old, young...... The courage this woman has displayed in sharing the horrors of what happened to her husband and their family should be a stark warning to all those who have derided the COVID protocols, have refused to wear masks and refuse to be vaccinated. Karma says....."Coming soon to a family member or yourself soon..."
  19. By the time I thought to ask about whether that no Advil thing was for the next 48 hours or for the entire 14 days, I was in the waiting area. I've decided to go with Tylenol equivalent and call the nurse line for clarification on Monday morning. I've not heard of anyone else being told this and now I wish I'd spoken to some of the other people who were in the 15 minute waiting area before I'd left to see if their vaccinating nurse had told them the same thing. The Pfizer vaccinated folks I know weren't given any recommendation for painkillers for side effects. It just seemed so odd to me!
