    Me too.

It's funny because, going to games, you lose all of the negativity. Social media really can drag us down if we follow the slide downhill.

Games are full of people having fun (win and lose) and cheering their team on. Sure, you get a few jersey tossers and some boo'ing at times. But, for the most part, people are there for enjoyment. I really need to spend less time online and get back into that rink and cheer my team on. It's a happier way of doing it...I'll let those in charge take care of ther rest and accept whatever that brings.

    GO CANUCKS GO

Get that cowbell out lady!! If I hear cowbell during the games I always think it’s you lol.

The other thing is...some never learn from their mistakes through players who've proven them wrong in the past. They just move on to the next target.

We're a city full of discontentment and that means people are easy to rile up and full on venting from years of disappointment spills over quite easily.

For sure, and I’m frustrated just like any other fan. I just don’t see what arguing back and fourth on here does for myself as a person other then drain my mental state.

And I’m definitely not excluding myself from being a saint on here. I have had my blow ups too. But I feel foolish after.

I just love to support this team. It’s my home province. I’ve lived all over north and south of it. Met and had great times with so many awesome fans. There is more to it than just winning at any cost. It’s a bond we all share as British Columbians. It’s an ice breaker any where i’ve went in this province. So over the years and all the losses the only thing I really look back on is the great times i’ve had with my friends and complete strangers, sharing the passion of a game we all love. Those are the things I hold onto. Not the negative BS.

Ha, was just posting this in another thread.

Yep...I, too, remember the screams to get rid of Bieksa. Because fans get an idea then put players under the microscope and wait for mistakes so they can be "right". Until they're proven wrong (again).

This game is full of peaks and valleys....slumps and hot streaks. Social media's given platforms for people to scream from and stuff snowballs rather quickly. Especially when the media types put it out there....just ask some of the best GM's and coaches how they feel about the media. There's a reason for that....they get paid for "stories". Clickbait grabs people's attention and sometimes sort of veers off course in order to do so. The Twitter tabloid mentality.

Oh yes…the media…I didn’t even touch on that lol. Very good point DLC.

Also i’d like to add for arguments sake. Fans that are pushing hard for Aqua to sell the team…news flash he won’t. We need to accept that fact.

Sports teams are massive tax havens for the rich. It’s why they buy a team in the first place. The tax sheltering that goes on behind the scenes is huge. At least we have an owner that wants to win. There are pro teams out there that the owners don’t care if they win or lose. They just care about the write off.

Those guys were fan favorites up until the cup run, people probably soured on them after I'd guess. Every team fans hate some guys and it's all relative. I hate Tom Wilson so I like reeves as he knocked him and even I liked seeing Wilson get Marchand as i'll always hate him.

I remember people hating malik, people even attacked Ohlund and Jovo drove some folks mad. Never changes.

White Noise used to be as busy, probably busier as the main hockey part here too but it could be a vicious place at times.

Oh yes, I remember how loved Bieksa was and by the end every fickle fan was begging to get rid of him. Blaming him for weak plays, missed assignments etc…we are so brutal to our players once we’re done with them collectively as a fan base. It makes me sick.

Miller vs Bo is just the latest trend in a long line of trends from our fan base…heck fans even got sick of the Sedins and wanted them shipped out for picks at the end.

There is a very large, selfish, me first, key board warrior, i’m always right, can’t prove me wrong portion of this fan base. There is no satisfying them. There is always someone or something to bitch about. This constant negativity drives me away from time to time here. I take multiple breaks a year now between posting. I’ve been on since 2016 and the cycle is all the same.

Players come and go, but the arguments are the same over and over.

I do however think currently it’s reaching new heights. We are an unsettled group of fans. We are tired of losing. I really do get it. But bashing players and management over and over doesn’t solve anything. We need to support our guys through tough times. This team is like family to us all, just the way it is here. And our guys need our support right now, not our angst.

If everything else stayed essentially the same with this team,  and all we did was bring our PK to at least average in the league,  our PO chances would rise exponentially.   I don't think some people (not referring to you J), fully understand how badly that department is submarining us on a regular basis.

It's mind boggling how coaching/management have left us totally exposed in this area.

Damn good point to bring up.

Hopefully Lockwoods call up will help us change the tide in that department. I’m hoping he becomes a Motte 2.0 for us. Has the chops to do it.

Jordan and MacKinnon showa how it supposed to be. The best in show tells how it should be done.

That player on this team is Petey.

Do you think Miller bow to Petey?

I think you’re right Timra. Petey will be the true leader of this team in the future. And no I don’t think Petey bows to him at all. They are the two alpha dogs of the team. I also think Petey has enough salt to him like Jordan and Mackinnon but can also show guys the way. Only thing is, right now it’s not his team. It’s Bo’s team.

I don’t think it can be fixed, but for those who want Playoffs both those things have to somewhat improve for a slight chance of making it. At least in my opinion, when it comes to our Playoff lives.

I also agree a big personnel change needs to be made. Always been optimistic and positive around this team, but can only do it for so long, especially with how mediocre our team and the organization has been.

I would go for massive changes at TDL and start the build around Pettersson and Hughes. Could he a quick turnaround if done well. To each their own though…

    I like that…turnaround…not a retool…:bigblush:

I watched a documentary of Michael Jordan. The stuff he used to say to his teammates on the floor is 1000x worse than anything Miller has ever done. Jordan won 6 championships. The Sedins won zero. Kobe Bryant was the same. Taunted everyone who stood in his way. He won 5 championships.

Miller is similar to these guys. He’s not like the Sedins. People can say what they want. That Miller sucks right now. Well he didn’t suck last year. He was the leader of this entire group last year when people were calling for Petey to go to the minors and when BO was a 3C getting 52 points. Miller and his 99 points almost got us to the playoffs.

The Sedins are all class. We know that. But they also got bullied around in the 2011 finals and ultimately lost. They lost to those bad ass Bruins who everyone hated and called out as having the worst character issues.

I may be in the minority but I’ll take some character issues with a Stanley Cup victory over being a total gentleman on the ice and being on the losing end every time.

This ain’t golf, i’m so tired of the gentleman argument.

You can add Mackinnon on that list too. Theres lots of guys that have said he is absolutely salty and gives you shit if you mess up even in practice.

The will to win has to be so high for these guys that nothing else matters. It’s what drives them to the heights of achievement that no one else can get to.

Shaq for such a nice man was also a pissy dude.

These ultra competitive guys are what drives teams to perform way above normal capacity.

Miller definitely has that in him but what’s not connecting is the rub off effect on his fellow players. Maybe he isn’t the answer but no one has the answers for this team so far. Everyone in my opinion is to blame and has some share in that. Not just Miller.

The act of slamming your stick on the back of the net is a bit of an a-hole move, man.

It really felt like JT was "big-leaguing" Delia the AHL guy.

He would never do that to Thatcher.

Dude needs to keep his emotions in check. Clearly he's frustrated with himself and the state of the team.

It got his attention didn’t it? He literally skates back into the crease and wasn’t moving out until he hit his stick on the cross bar and snapped him out of it.

No biggie, they’re all big boys. I see nothing wrong. He tried talking/yelling at him first. Delia just seemed confused on what to do.

It’s a very loud building. End of the game the Jets fans are loud as F…hard to hear anything I bet on the ice.

Making mountains out of mole hills I say.

It looks like they've gone back to Petey, Bo and Miller down the middle since it is becoming likely that Bo is on his way out.  They really need to be persistent with Miller if this is the case.

Aman is a nice story but he has fallen off recently.  Poor face off performance (35%), low production (0.14 ppg).  He perhaps needs a spell in the AHL to get his confidence going.  Dries, who has better production (0.37 ppg) and is 53% on the dot, I expect will be slotting in at 4C.   I think they'd really prefer a bigger player to do the job though.  In general, I really like the way the 4th line has been able to hem the opposition in their own zone.

Lockwood is the beneficiary of all this.  Let's hope he sticks.

Well said, but also Lockwood is an excellent penalty killer on the farm. Motte 2.0 here we come! We need his skill set badly.

My concern is, if the plan is to trade him and then wait too long for the perfect returns that he gets injured (or other teams make trades and offers dry up)

If the plan is to sign him, then sign him

If the plan is to trade, get that deal done by the beginning of January , while he is hot and healthy

Ugh…don’t remind me. That would be just sooo “canuck luck” …lol

Great bunch of young men we have on the farm!!!

Finally eh! Been waiting forever it seems to see more than just AHL vets and low tier prospects on the team.

I think the best they’ve had for top tier was Gadj and Lind. Virtanen spent a small amount of time but not much.

    Fun times Googlie!

    Disagree with Toews and Monahan.

    Top Centres

    - Horvat

    - Larkin

    - ROR

Very likely Bergeron retires and Larkin re-signs with the Wings. That really leaves you with Bo and ROR. I’m taking Bo, younger, scores more, can be a 1st line centre or 1B at the second line.

Sure I get all that. But none are signed yet. So it’s gonna get curious closer to TDL. If all those guys aren’t re signed including Horvat then to me all bets are off on who goes where at the end of the season.

Will be really interesting to see if ROR or Larkin resign and for what price. It will really set the table for Horvat and his contract demands.

I do agree about Bergeron. Probably right there. Love him as a player tho.

And I think Monahan and Toews are still good short term pick ups if Horvat walks. I do agree not stellar 1st line C’s but we don’t need that. We need a 2/3 C to play behind Petey and Miller (since we’re stuck with him and his contact). So they fit the bill.

So at least if JR and co screw this up there is center depth in the market regardless.

I just fear we’re gonna go on a streak, get close to playoffs and hold onto Bo…then risk him going to UFA. Our owners are so bent on that playoff revenue. So for me it’s at least comforting to see there will be options at the end of the season.

    • Cheers 1
  14. I think we do stand a chance to reasonably resign Horvat. Looking further into free agent centers heading into 2023 who don’t have new contracts is huge. I didn’t realize till now…with the center UFA market potentially being flooded with high quality centers I think JR may indeed be waiting the season out till trade dead line to see if any of Bo’s comparables sign for “at cost” deals.

    A list of current top 6 C’s:

    - Bergeron

    - O Rielly

    - Monahan

    - Larkin

    - Toews

    lesser tier but still available…

    - Zacha

    - Strome

    - Kerfoot

    - J. Staal

    And still more beyond that.

At least there are lots of options to cover for Bo’s loss if things go south I guess.

Kind of a much younger and cheaper right shot version of Pearson?

Been thinking on that too Alf. They don’t keep very good faceoff stats in the AHL. But I can confirm he has been playing steady C on the farm and from what I can tell wins at least 50 % of his battles. That’s a great asset to have along side Petey. Kinda like Miller was back a couple seasons ago.
