  1. You dont draft a Burrows, Torres, Cooke, Laperriere with a 5th OA pick. You draft Ekman-Larsson.
  2. The thing I love about Boeser’s rookie year, is how jealous everyone is of us. You can see it from the eastern media how much they dont wanna talk about him, just because they’re so petty. He’s a special player, and the entire Bruins scouting department should be fired immediately. 3 at bats and they miss their shot at Boeser..,,
  3. For all the people thinking that teams having the book on Boeser is actually gonna change anything, honestly i just can't agree. There are just some players in this league, very few of them, that just need one shot and they capitalize. Ovechkin and Stamkos have an office on the PP, that weve all known since '06, yet they still score from the very same spot. Boeser has that kind of shot, and no matter how much focus will be on shutting him down, all he will need will be one chance. I see him as a consistent 30 goal scorer at worst. I thought 20 goals this year would be ideal, but 30 games in and he's already pretty much there. It only helps that he has great hands, good vision, and is decent on the defensive side of the puck. And he is tough as nails. I wanted to temper my expectations, but he made it impossible. Barring any injuries, he is the rookie of the year, making a probably terrible season bearable for us die hard fans. I just cant see a sophomore slump, i see the same thing Laine is doing this year in brocks future
  4. 3 apples so far for the kid. 15 mins left in the 3rd.
  5. Palmu doesn't seem to be on the roster today, any reason why? Scratch? Injury? Sick?
  6. For now he's only credited 1 assist and 2 PIM
  7. Tanev made the NHL because in the 2011 finals we got decimated on D.. and he was calm and composed, like he could have had a cigarette in his mouth while he was playing. He stuck because he is coachable and does the small things right. That doesn't mean he has good IQ. You often seen Tanev not know what to do with the puck in the neutral zone, so he dumps it in. That's an example of making the right play, but not having the IQ to make a better play. Tanev has one zone he masters, and that's it, but boy does he master it. But not because he has high IQ, but because he can take a hit, battle hard, and get the puck out. Either way I will agree to disagree with everyone. I understand what im saying is very touchy and that its not a popular opinion, but it is my opinion. Im glad hes on the back end, but this all really comes back to the fact that I personally think Juolevi will be a much better player than Tanev, in bothends of the rink. Juolevi has more hockey IQ in his left pinky than Tanev does, and that's not even a knock on Tanev. And for the record i never said Tanev had low hockey Iq, i said he wasnt a smart player, i think he has average hockey IQ.
  8. The way i see it is as soon as Tanev makes the first pass out, he's absolutely useless. I love him, he's a phenomenal Defensive D, but to compare him to Juolevi, who was drafted because of his high IQ in all 3 zones, is preposterous. Yes it wouldnt be bad to have another tanev, but the reality is, with Juolevi's potential, we're looking more on the Edler pre-2012 side of things. Tanev is a good player, but doesn't have a high hockey IQ, he just knows when to absorb a hit or when to give the puck to the other D by putting it behind the net softly for the other D to pick up and then make the pass out. That's not an inteligent play at all, that's just repetition at practice. How many stretch passes does Tanev make a year? Like 2? His IQ is average.
  9. In the OHL, he was severely above in terms of IQ. Most of his assists came from incredible cross ice passes that the other team just didn't see coming. Who's specialty is that? Karlsson. Subban. I think the Tanev comparison os terrible because Tanev isn't a smart player at all. He just works harder than anyone else and makes the good play consistently. Juolevi is a tier above him, if not 2.
  10. He actually is an offensive D, as much as he is a defensive one. He's your prototypical 2-way defensemen, which tanev abd hamhuis definetely arent. He's creative, has incredibly O and D iq's, has a great shot, good instincts, is a phenomenal skater. Think more like Pietrangelo than Tanev.
  11. Its kinda funny to think that a lot of people were iffy about this pick, but had we picked Glass for instance, people would be calling for JB's head to have not drafted the 19 year-old SHL leading scorer just because of his size.
  12. Silver lining: without tryamkin, we were able to play Pouliot. Still hoping this beast comes back i have a gut feeling he will
  13. Gaunce has to be better for sure, but its obvious that WD killed Gaunce's game. He used him only as a low minute 4th line C who wasnt encouraged to be free on the ice, and his only mission was to not get scored on. As a young player, you listen to your coach to earn his trust and then rise the ranks, except WD preferred giving opportunities to Megna (barf) and Chaput (a little less barf / i kinda like him as a 13th Forward). Gaunce wasnt able to be creative, or apply anything he had developped in the 2 seasons prior in Utica. He grew a lot from junior to his 2nd AHL year and if we get a glimpse of that gaunce in the NHL, we will all be very happy. He doesnt need to score a lot, but he needs to shape his game ala Malhotra.
  14. The thing is is that it's not rushing if the player kicks the door down. Brock kicked it down and has done nothing other than that. He's ready, hence there is no rushing. Agree for Virtanen, but wouldn't be upset if he made the roster this year.
  15. I can already see all the trolls posting how much of a bust he is if he doesnt score PPG,which would completely be normal since the SHL is a hell of a league. Should be very good for his development, hope he takes the Juolevi workout program.
  16. This is exactly what we should do with Horvat
  17. Is he Bolting? Or is this not concerning? I don't understand why he would do this, he would have been eligible for the AHL.. how long is he signing in thé KHL for?
  18. Aren't European leagues currently using IIHF Olympic sized rinks? That would mean that his skating would be less exposed since NA rinks are actually not the big ice, but the smaller ice. Nvm I get it now..
  19. It's actually not à fact. Theres à big chance he signs and goes to Utica....
  20. I think with the emergence of Boeser, playing a decent NHL style 200 foot game, this gives us a nice trickle down effect for next year. This could be a good sign for next year, but in either case, we are set to have a very unpredictable season next year. If the stars align, we have a very good influx of youth, speed, grit etc... to yake us into the playoffs. Goldobin boeser horvat baertschi granlund gudbranson stecher hutton maybe virtanen (we don't know yet) etc... this gives our team à very special element, and with another year under their belt, would liberate the sedins, sutter and eriksson, who could all have good seasons. This means megna can stay, but hed be playing 4th line (trickle down), and that's actually not à bad 4th line player at all.. In no particular order we could have Baertschi horvat boeser Sedin sedin granlund Goldobin sutter eriksson Labate gaunce? Megna/boucher/Rodin I mean the options are endless really Edler tanev Hutton gudbranson Tryakin stecher Pedan/subban/mceneny/biega/sbisa?? Markstrom Miller I mean we could very well have a great team next year, or it could be another development year. But I think all thèse predictions are moot because we really can't know. If horvat keeps exploding, if we stay somewhat healthy, if eriksson bounces back, if sedin sedin granlund stays dominant, if gudbranson and edler and huttom bounce back, if stecher doesn't hit his sophomore slump and actually progresses, if tryamkin develops his offense and physical game. We have so many question marks that could actually create a great young team, fighting for a wildcard spot. I personally think next year we are top 3 in thé division. I think the sharks and ducks will take a step back, and that the top 3 will be all canadian, Edmonton Vancouver Calgary In that order. But I could be completely wrong. But damn do we have the most potential we've had since 2008.... I hope boeser starts with us next year, I guess it's completely up to him and his offseason and training camp..
  21. To be fair it is widely agreed that in a re draft Boeser goes around 10 spots higher.
  22. So I was having a stroll on calgary puck because I wanted their take on the Tkachuk suspension, and I happened to see a Vancouver hate thread. First of all, nothing but class I assure you..... Well that's not why im here. Im here because someone on there posted that no single canuck could "hold tkachuks jock strap" or something like that and it got me wondering.... Does this league know who Bo is? I mean I dont see a single player on calgary more complete, or more essential to a cup winning team, than Horvat. Monahan is fantastic for sure, I would love him on my team, but I don't even know if Id do a 1 for 1 for horvat.... it wouldn't take much to add but still. Then you have gaudreau who is a phenomenal 1 dimensional player, who I would despise having in thé playoffs against the sharks, Kings, blues , hawks, wild etc... because of the physical intensity of the post season... I mean he's an elite player, but pass. Then you have giordano who is an all star defensemen, but Im not entirely sold on him either. Hes amazing but I mean I wouldn't trade Horvat 1 for 1 either... So all this to say, Horvat >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Tkachuk And Vancouver >>>>>>> Calgary Funny side note, Kiprusoff and the 2004 run is the reason I started playing hockey.
  23. Oilers fans are jealous our rebuild isn't passing through the road of 10+ years of mediocrity. Boeser has had issues this season but has not regressed. Look for a very promising AHL season next year, and then we can talk. Hell, he might even force our hand earlier than we think.... Hé is a consensus top prospect in thé NHL. You should ask your oiler friend if he thinks puljujarvi has regressed. I mean he couldn't even béat out caggiula kassian or maroon for a spot on their roster....
