  1. You must have been up all night looking for this. Hope it was worth it.
  2. I doubt Virtanen will make the Canucks lineup on opening night, but if it's the NHL or AHL, he needs to make progress this season. Typically the third season as a pro is where most "power forward" type players make progress as a pro hockey player. I'd be disappointed if he doesn't reach the 20 goal plateau in the AHL, assuming he spends most of the season in Utica. If he doesn't find his offensive game this season, I doubt he will accumulate to anything more than a bottom 6 grinder. But again this is just based on comparable players in the past, he could be a late bloomer for all we know.
  3. Baby Driver: 9/10 - I didn't except it to be the movie it was going to be, action packed, filled with comedy, romance and great music Spiderman Homecoming: 8/10 - Fun superhero movie, good cast but I don't think it brought anything new to the Marvel Cinematic Universe The Big Sick: 9/10 - I highly recommend this, one of the better romantic comedies I've seen in a long time
  4. I probably should have clarified that no Canucks draft pick has scored 100 pts in major junior since Brandon Reid. Also Fox was signed half way through the season he scored 60+ goals, 100+pts, (he already had 68 pts when he was signed) so he really doesn't count.
  5. If there are no injuries and he doesn't make the WJC team, I can see Lind scoring 100 points this year. The Canucks haven't had a prospect score at least 100 points in major junior since Brandon Reid did it back in 2000-2001.
  6. With the Canucks terrible luck and the fact that some of the team has to travel half way across the world to play pre-season games, I honestly would not be surprised if one or two guys on the back end went down with injuries before the season even started. It seems to happen every year, and thus opening a spot for Juolevi (barring a solid training camp of course).
  7. Yes, don't think he has the hands of Bertuzzi. He's definitely more in the mold of David Backes, Anders Lee and Patrick Maroon - big guys who score garbage goals. Which is something this team absolutely needs.
  8. Here's hoping that he becomes our version of Mats Zuccarello.
  9. If DiPietro continues his solid play into next season, there's a chance that he plays for Team Canada at the WJC and possibly even be a starter.
  10. Yup, chances are that the Canucks BPA list is quite different from all the pundits list.
  11. Agreed, considering he is also going to Vaxjo, which was the best team in the SHL this past season. He will also play with his brother Emil and the same team that Philip Holm played in.
  12. If Benning is going the BPA route for the 33rd pick, based on a number of rankings it looks like these 5 guys are the most popular in that range (and still available): Kole Lind Connor Timmins Jason Robertson Nicholas Hague Maxime Comtois
  13. Here is NBC's coverage of the Canucks pick which feature a lot of the TSN brass. Much better and insightful than SN. First thing Millard from SN says when the Canucks made the pick was "165 pounds". Gee, thanks Darren:
  14. Boy, that has the potential to be a legit first line in the NHL if everyone pans out.
  15. It's because CDC has "name-itis" when it comes to the draft. Basically, they hear a name a few times leading up to the draft and they think that's the guy the team should pick despite never watching these players play live. You will see it more tomorrow in the second and third rounds - more whining about how the Canucks should have taken the familiar name rather than support the team who have professionals that watch these players live on a regular basis.
  16. I'd agree with this. The best part is that the Canucks are guaranteed one of those guys, unless they move down of course. It's an exciting time.
  17. What are you even talking about? I'm just saying it's premature to say that a team is going to have a deeper prospect pool than us when those picks haven't even been made yet. Even then, it would take another 2-3 years to judge.
  18. Quit being so dramatic. Even if they have 12 picks today, hard to believe all 12 of those picks will be legit NHL players.
  19. Nothing wrong with picking Vilardi. If the Canucks come home with either Glass or Vilardi on Friday, I would say that's a win for this franchise.
  20. Great Sportsnet feature on Cody Glass. I would be more than happy if the Canucks selected him on Friday:
  21. Pretty good mock from Button. I see the Canucks taking Vilardi over Glass if he is available.
  22. Nothing against Makar and Heiskanen, but hard to believe they value those guys over the three centres. Then again, I was convinced they would take Tkachuk last year instead of Juolevi.
  23. The way I see it - the Canucks will take Vilardi assuming he is available. If Vilardi is nabbed before the Canucks pick, the question is if they value Pettersson over Glass more?
