  1. Aren't most posters on the Canucks HFBoard just closet Coilers, Lames and Laffs fans?
  2. Wouldn't mind Reaves as well, it looks like he can play for a tough guy. But I'm betting a team will overpay for him (we're looking at $2.5 mill per year) which is too much for a 4th liner playing 10 minutes a game.
  3. Pretty obvious at this point, Gaudette will be taking his talents to South Beach and sign with the Miami Heat.
  4. mother! - 5/10 Not entirely sure how to rate this movie, which is definitely one of the strangest movies I have ever seen, but I'll give it a 5. After watching it through, Aronofsky definitely had some cool ideas but wasn't able to execute it well. I'll give him credit, it was entertaining and Jennifer Lawrence was solid as a damsel in distress, but sorely it lacked everywhere else. This film was not what I was expecting and definitely has a couple of shocking (albeit ridiculous) scenes. It's worth checking out because of its sheer lunacy but I can see why people walked out on it in theatres.
  5. Daniel needs 9 more goals to get 400. If he continues this torrid pace, he may actually reach it by the end of the season.
  6. Exactly, your reaction already indicates that they are our most hated rival. &^@# the Lames.
  7. Yes, Gadjovich and Lind are both AHL eligible next season.
  8. I like what Gudbranson brings to the table even though the stats don't favor him. But the fact that he can't stay healthy is a big sign to move on. He's only played over 70 games twice in his 7 seasons in the NHL and has never played a full 82 games. Rumors are that he's looking for a 4-5 year deal, it would be concerning if he only managed to play 1 full season out of that. Just not worth it IMO.
  9. Agreed, it would be a tough pill to swallow if we draft Tkachuk and elite offensive talents like Zadina and Svechnikov are still on the board. BPA boys.
  10. Or some of that Marian Hossa skin rash magic.
  11. Not sure where you came up with those numbers, but 2.5 per year for Jake would be a huge overpayment. He's probably worth $1.75 at most at this point and even that's pushing it. Ferkland got a 2 year, $1.77 AAV extension after posting 15 goals and 25 points. Jake is on pace for less than that. My guess is that Jake will get a 2 year extension - similar to Gaunce, likely between 950k-1.3m AAV. Unless of course he lights it up the rest of the season.
  12. Nino Niedereitter is a better example: http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=123014 Both high draft picks, big, power forward type players. Nino didn't start scoring at the NHL level until his draft + 5 season. Draft + 5 for Jake would be next season, hopefully he'll be able to put it all together starting next season. Otherwise, I don't ever see him becoming a top 6 forward.
  13. Obviously it's still early and these stats may never translate at the NHL level but Benning has absolutely proven me wrong on this one. I was fully on board the Cody Glass bandwagon.
  14. Where did I argue that part? I never mentioned anywhere that the top end wasn't weak. I agree that it was, especially for a top 10. Like I said, pretty decent.
  15. Cool man. So do I get a medal for that, or what? EDIT: I was going to add more to my sarcastic comment, but looks like @Diamonds below added in what I was going to say. In addition, it looks like at least 20 of the first rounders are looking to become legit NHLers. Nowhere near as bad as the terrible 2012 draft. Like I said, "pretty decent". Hope I didn't ruin your day with that comment.
  16. Hard to blame the criticism of Jake around here, bottom line is that he was drafted 6th overall in a pretty decent draft. He was picked to be a cornerstone piece of the franchise and so far he hasn't delivered. I've had a lot of patience for Jake, but for me, this year was the year to show some progression (to see if he can be a top 6 forward). So far he hasn't progressed and it's hard to see him become more than a third liner at this point. I hope I'm wrong though.
  17. The Post. 7.5/10 Wasn't sure if this was going to bore me since I'm not all into political thrillers, but this one was good. Obviously it headlined Streep, Hanks and Spielberg but I thought the large supporting cast were really noticeable, particularly Bob Odenkirk. Usually things are dramatized in these 'based on a true story' type files, this one is no different, but I thought the film and writing carried itself well. Worth the watch, especially on such an important topic.
  18. Big Little Lies on HBO. Very good show filled with drama, interesting twists and extremely complex characters with an all star cast. I can see why this show won so many Golden Globes. I'd recommend checking it out seeing as it's only an 8 episode season. They've just renewed it for a second season, and I'm looking forward to it.
  19. Nylander over Pettersson? Must be the Buffalo bias.
  20. That sounds like something Botchford or Jeff Paterson would write.
  21. He's been dominant on the powerplay, haven't noticed him as much 5 on 5. It seems to be more of a chemistry issue with his line 5 on 5. But it's still early.
