  1. Im just thinking of how many times Salo helped us out on the PP with his big bomb of a shot. Also having Kesler blocking the goalie and causing havoc on the PP while the Sedins worked their magic and a puck moving D man in Ehrhoff. That team was really successful at winning. We need a big shot to rely on. I can't stand seeing Sbisa getting grade A chances. Juolevi doesn't have a big shot. Nicolaus Hague has a big shot from the point and could replace Sbisa. Hopefully we draft Vilardi with our first and either the Sharks win and we go for Hague or we trade and get another first. Beartchi Horvat Boesser Goldobin Vilardi Granlund Dahlen Gaudette Virtanen McEwan Chaput Lockwood Hague Stetcher Juolevi Tyramkin Hutton Gudbranson
  2. Because Jake doesn't beat people up like heavyweight Nick Ritchie
  3. I remember Jakes draft. I listened to it on the radio. Parked my car when they got to the 6th pick. I was praying we would draft Nick Ritchie to help our team with some size and toughness. Then I was upset we got Virtanen. I guess he is faster and a bigger hitter than Ritchie. Benning ruined his development by telling him he couldn't learn any more in WHL and letting him play in NHL.
  4. Defence NHL players LHD RHD Alex Edler Troy Stetcher Luca Sbisa Chris Tanev Ben Hutton Nikita Tyramkin Alex Biega Eric Gudbranson Philip Larson Defence prospects LHD RHD Evan McEneny Jordan Subban Oli Juolevi Jalen Chatfield Guillaume Brisebois Cael Neill Tate Olson Have I missed anyone? Looking at this we can afford to trade Tanev and Edler. We need a puck moving offence man . The two best RHD players in the 2017 draft are: - Timothy Liljegren - Cal Makar Oli Juolevi Timothy Liljegren/ Cal Makar Luca Sbisa Troy Stetcher Ben Hutton Nikita Tyramkin Alex Biega Phillip Larson Even Mceneny Jordan Subban
  5. Glass is also showing the maturity of a player who can be an NHL pro, Unlike a young Virtanen.
  6. I would love it if we draft Cody Glass with our first round pick. The mock draft site had us picking these guys but im sure like you said Benning will find a couple more gems that can compete for NHL spots in the future. 1 5 Cody Glass C Portland (WHL) 6' 2" 179 2 36 Shane Bowers C Waterloo (USHL) 6' 0.75" 175 3 67 Jocktan Chainey D Halifax (QMJHL) 6' 1" 196 4 98 Joël Teasdale LW Blainville-Boisbriand (QMJHL) 5' 11" 197 4 118 Mark Rubinchik D Saskatoon (WHL) 6' 0.5" 165 7 191 Tomas Vomacka G Corpus Christi (NAHL) 6' 3" 170
  7. My top 10 order for us: 1. Hischier 2. Patrick 3. Mittelstadt 4. Glass 5. Vilardi 6. Makar 7. Suzuki 8. Liljegren 9. Necas 10. Tippett Mittelstadt and Glass are my favourite outside of the top 2. Cody Glass reminds me of Toews
  8. Marcus Foligno would be a good guy for the Canucks who can also contribute offensively
  9. We haven't had a tough team since we had guys like Bryan Allen and Ed Jovanovski on the team in 2002. Ever since the Pavel Dimitra and Kyle Wellwood days this team has been soft and painful to watch. The flames stay tough because they keep adding guys that can fight and put up 20 goals. I think Peluso would is an effective enforcer but how would he fit in our lineup. Is he really better skill wise than Skille, Gaunce, Megna, Chaput, Dorsett? What would it take to get him? A second round pick? We need a big body enforcer but personally I would rather draft a guy in the high first round like Nicolas Hague who I see having Chara like dominance on the ice and a big point shot like Salo had. I think we are at a stage where we want to build a championship team of young guys who grow up together competing, fighting, bleeding, winning night after night together. Thats the kind of character and grit that champion teams are made of. Teams that can over come adversity. That said I also see something special in Zach MacEwan. I think he will be our Todd Burtuzzi 2.0. The best thing this team can do is keep all our draft picks and potentially try to get some more. Then continue to build our prospect pool. We are in the beginning of a 5 year rebuild plan that will likely see us at a point to contend for the cup in 5 years.
  10. i thought he looked solid. Would add some size to our LW position.
  11. Next Season Sedin Sedin Granlund Beartchi Horvat Boesser Goldobin Sutter Eriksson Dorsett Chaput Virtanen Edler Stetcher Tyramkin Tanev Hutton Gudbransen Draft the best centre available with our first round selection.
  12. Vilardi and Foote would be unreal Granlund Horvat Boesser Goldobin Vilardi Dahlen Beartchi Gaudett Virtanen MacEwan Abols Lockwood Tyramkin Stetcher Juolevi Foote Hutton Gudbranson
  13. I would be ok if we got Rasmussen and Foote this summer.
  14. If that was the problem we would have a team with size but we don't. We are rebuilding a team that will be competitive in 3-5 years. If we can add two solid pieces like Rasmussen and Hague then on deeper drafts we go for the really skilled guys we will have a balanced team.
  15. What do you guys think is the potential for Nicolas Hague? He is mean, dominant and wins fights. Has a big power shot and scores goals. Reminds me of Chara. Big guys like this are really hard to trade for. If we drafted a big heavyweight defence man like him to help add size and grit to our team and a weapon of a shot for the PP this team would start to be respected again. Something we have been lacking for a long long time. All of us fans have suffered in frustration watching other teams take runs at our players and not having anyone to stand up to them and keep them in line. Trade Tanev for a low first of this years draft and pick up Michael Rasmussen. Next year we will likely finish near the bottom of the standings and there is a lot better centres to choose from. I would like to change the identity of our team to one that is feared! Granlund Horvat Boesser Goldobin Rasmussen Dahlen Beartchi Gaudett Virtanen MacEwan Abols Lockwood Hague Stetcher Juolevi Tyramkin Hutton Gudbranson
  16. No! we are rebuilding for tomorrow not trading away prospects and picks for a chance to win now.
  17. Michael Rasmussen reminds me of a young Eric Lindros. He will fight and stick up for teammates, he has a scoring touch, as he fills out he will be a great tool on the PP to block the goalie in front of the net. Big body on forecheck, dominating net presence. This is an element of our team we are lacking. Kessler brought a bit of it. If we picked him I would be happy. If the hockey gods favour us this summer and we can somehow get another low-mid 1st round draft pick I also like the Finnish defence man on his team Juuso Valimaki.
  18. I belive Jake will be ready for the NHL next season.
  19. Utica makes sense for a couple of reasons. 1. Its his fastest rout to playing in the NHL 2. At 19 its time for him to get used to the smaller rink and tougher north american style of game. 3. If Green is still the coach next season he will teach him a system that is transferrable to the Canucks style of play.
  20. Nick Suzuki should be getting a lot more attention on here. Reminds me a bit of Jost last season. This guy skates great on his edges, has an NHL shot and finishing ability. Is absolutely dominating in the OHL this season in points. If we are drafting around 5 and are looking for a top 6 centre who lights up the score board he could be our guy!!
  21. Since next year has some generational talent and Horvat is set as our top 1 or 2 centre. There is some logic at this years draft to picking a D with our first pick (at 5-8). Cale Makar or Timothy Liljegren Then next year draft for a # 1 centre. (Jake Wise) There is a higher chance we finish near the bottom of the standings next season. Based on this projection, this strategy might be worth considering.
