I suspect that even if they did amend the waiver rules for young players that McEneny would some how wind up being exempt from the rules due to the fact he was a free agent signee not a draft pick.

Chatfield seemed to have a target on his back all night, I really liked his game. I see shades of (and I do mean shades not saying he will be anywhere near as good) Chris Chelios in his play. He's got some decent skill and plays with an edge...like the way he fits with Olli Juolevi compliment each other very well...

Do you remember Rick Girard? 1992-93 Swift Current 72 games 71 goals 70 assists 141 points! 2nd round pick never played a game in the NHL he did however play a lot of games in Germany lol

Better yet...who was the last Canuck draft pick to score 100 points in a single WHL season? Although it has been awhile there are a few and a few who came within 5 points or less of a hundred.

I don't want to see the Canucks rush this guy, defensemen take time to develop...Nick Lidstrom didn't play in the NHL until 2 years after he was drafted, Duncan Keith 5 years after he was drafted, there are exceptions of course. Guys like Doughty and Ekblad. But it will be better long term for OJ not to make the Canucks this fall. My two cents.

I believe that the year (or two) that he will spend at The University of Minnesota will help with his fitness levels. The NCAA teams all have excellent training facilities and the shorter schedule lends itself to much more off ice training than the CHL leagues. Could be a big plus for Mittlestadt and a guy like Makar.
