Yikes.  The mood is changing quickly and fans are becoming really negative.  We haven't even gotten through UFA

yet and there's still +++ offseason to go.

Peeps are forgetting that we have a number of young players that will be returning to the Canucks a year older

and with another season under their belt.  Last year had a lot of ups and downs, but once Bruce pulled them

together, the group of players became a team.  Hughes, Pete, Demko, Podz, Hogs will be better players, Kuze and

Rathbone might be great additions, Brock has something to prove and Bo has shown how he can up his game (as

he did when the team was fighting to make the playoffs.

There will undoubtedly be 2-3 additions to the team, regardless of the Miller trade.  I do believe that Miller will

be traded, but probably not for the gold mine some fans thought.

Many things can happen over the next couple of months.  For instance...

perhaps Carolina steps up to a

    Miller for Necas + Pesce + 1st

    or Jersey goes for

    Garland for Mcleod + Foote

    maybe Kraken want

    Myers + Hogs for  Donato + 2nd

    then Coyotes want

    Donato +(Kracken) 2nd for Crouse

    and Ducks want

    Pears for(Bos) 2nd

    and Vegas wants cap relief

Ferland + (Car) 1st for Roy

    Crouse    Pete    Brock

    Kuze    Bo    Podz/Necas

    McLeod    Roy    Podz/Necas

    Foote    Lammy   HMore

    Lockwood

    Hughes   Pesce

    OEL  Miller/Lyubushkin

    Rathbone   Schenn

    Dermott  Burroughs

**Vancouver still has their 1st and (Bos) 2nd for 2023

You may like all, some or none of these trades and that's fine.  I only made the post to support the notion that

there's lots of time for trades to happen this offseason.  6 trades in 1 season may be unlikely, but 3 would still

help our team by supporting the core.

It’s because we weren’t  playoff team last year. going into season with same team is not acceptable. he now has 3 days and hasn’t traded anyone or got us better we have zero cap to sign a free agent as we'll.

yeah I know, thats why I said 'grain of salt' but then again, Marchand starts on LTIR, makes a miraculous recovery for the playoffs and dump Foligno and they could do it.

Ya they’d need clear like 13 mil in cap only team offering kadri over 8 are losing teams so if he wants lose rest of his career go ahead take his 10 mil

Kadri might really complicate things for us. If he really does get a stupid $10 mil offer (Kypreos so grain of salt) from Seattle or Boston, I think that just makes Miller harder to trade  for a big return since there will be an expectation of an extension like that from Millers agent. So we're probably looking at lower return if this actually happens.

Lmao what a tool Bruins don’t even have cap space to sign Bergeron let alone kadri for 10 mil

For those of you saying miller won’t take the deal thrown at him from Vancouver, what if Canucks play hard ball and go into the season with him unsigned and his point production isint as good this season and he gets moved at the deadline and doesn’t work out where he’s traded to it could potentially cost him millions! Just a thought

I think 6x8.35 with miller comfort in Vancouver gets it done but Ruthford won’t offer that.

The Canucks probably want him for 7-7.85 x 5-6 years

millers camp probably want 9/9.5 x 7-8 years

So I think 54-60 million total money spread out over 8 years would be the compromise deal

still think we end up trading him

I agree I know the problem Ruthford won’t go over 5 or 6 years and still is coming in under 8 mil so unless Ruthford improves his offer to 6 or 7 years and over 8 he will be traded. Ruthford only takes players on his deal.

think Forsberg signing is good one less top line UFA off the market.

i would have loved so sign him as a Canuck but with drafting lekkerimaki it’s probably for the best for our cap structure.

Lekkerimaki was huge steal at 15 his shot is nhl ready he just needs improve his skating and get bigger this kid will be sniping goals on Canucks in 2 years

Why would miller sign a deal for less twem and less money than he'd get in UFA?

He’s turning 30 on his big deal he’s not getting more then 8.5 at 30 years of age unless he signs on 4 or 5 year term.

Winning team his contract 6x8.75 or 7x8.35 5x8.95

    Losing team 8x8.5 x 7x9

Mark my words that’s what he’ll come in at depending on his team.

I haven't given up at all. I trust this management, and what they are doing..

But if they traded Miller for Petry, Anderson and a 2nd, that would be one of the worst trades I have ever seen and I would think they are super incompetent. Now I know that this will never happen, so I don't have to worry.

The scenario I wanna see play out Miller signs 7x8.35  Bo horvat Pearson to Flyers Sanhiem Laughton 2023 2nd turns into 1st if Bo signs.

Vancouver can get a better return and Montreal isn’t going to pay that for a 1 year rental when they’re rebuilding.

I’m not sure but Ruthford has settle this by free agency we have to many holes not clear cap. Bo or Miller can get us young defencemen on cheap contract and maybe take off Pearson contract for us

Agreed but of that list most have been top players for most of their careers, JT has proven it for 3 years with us. So to me he is worth signing but for less term than he would get as a UFA next summer.

If we do trade JT before the FA period, what kind of a deal would Canuck fans be okay giving Andrew Copp as a potential #2C option? H just turned 28 yesterday so I would be willing to give him 5 or 6 years. Late bloomer like JT maybe but likely a lesser version of him obviously. Copp plays a solid game of hockey and can play all 3 forward positions, lots of teams will be interested and might go 7 years for him as that would take him till he is 34.

Coop would be 3rd line centre Petey needs move centre that’s why his play went down he needs drive his own line we trade miller it’d be Petey bo copp.

  11. 5 minutes ago, JM_ said:

not sure we have much choice. Even moving Miller only gets us 5 mil, can't really make much of a UFA splash for that.

We really have to move Dickie, Pearson and Myers if we want to make UFA moves.

We move miller Pearson Ferland ltir and poolman ltir that gives us around 13 mil I’m not sure we can trade Myers or Dickson

  12. 2 minutes ago, JM_ said:

because its a good comparison for production over the length of the deal. I don't believe anyone would bet on Miller being more productive than Forsberg over the next 8 seasons.

Not at all I don’t think he gets 8 years at his age. 7 years at 8.10 million is fair contract and if he doesn’t accept that we take whatever we can get and use his money elsewhere.

    Zibinijad, 8x8.5

    Forsberh, 8x$8.5

    Hertl 8x$8.25

Would you take any of those guys over Miller?

Yes I would take zibinjad over him and probably hertll as well like I said they are not signing those contracts at 30 years old it’s not comparable 7 years at 8.10 is fair contract if he doesn’t take that we trade him for whatever we can get and use his money elsewhere.

He now has multiple contracts to use as comparables, all of whom are on long term, $8m+ deals.........why would he take less?  And that's assuming he even wants to be in Canada at all

All his comparisons are around 8 ish and none of those players signed at 30 years old the term is set around 7.5 to 8.5. 7 years  at 8.10 is fair contract
