You’d think re-signing Miller and trading Horvat makes us a cup contender?

Ya’ll acting like Miller is 25yrs old. He’s going to be 30, when his contract is up, and will likely have 2-3 more “good” years left after that. I’ll be pretty disappointed when Miller is producing 40-50 pts, while being paid 8m a season,

Ya but I bet in those 4 or 5 years he will out preform bo. plus players we can get for bo plus few free agents signings we’re definitely better team

I’m leaning towards signing Miller too, especially since his value is less now that the last TDL and keeps going down.

    think he’d accept 8.25 x 7?

Yes I feel like there only going 5 or 6 years. if we give him 7 year he’ll sign and I think we got more for bo. miller also shown he can carry team which puts less pressure on Petey. if we trade miller we’re banking on Petey being 90 point player constantly

I get that people wanted to see a huge move at the draft,  but really it was the most unlikely time to see JT Miller dealt.  Once teams can negotiate a long term deal next week,  a deal is far more likely.
I do pretty firmly believe that front office is trying really hard to re sign him.  Until that door closes,  they won’t consider dealing another forward.

it’s going to be a really interesting week coming up,  we will almost certainly be a pretty big player during and leading up to ufa.

I honestly think we’re better team signing miller long term and moving Bo for defencemen plus picks and prospects

Bo doesn't play with first line players because he doesn't have the skills to back it up. He's more of a bruiser, one man show type of guy like Kesler, rather than a playmaking centreman. Bo also has played with boeser before and hasn't produced like Miller. I think it's asinine to make the assumption that Horvat would produce like JTM when he's had similar sort of opportunities. For example Miller has the spot on the PP that he does because of his skill from that spot. If you put horvat there I doubt he'd produce at a similar clip.

As for the captain comment, I meant I feel we may overpay Horvat/overrate him due to him being our captain/homegrown player despite him being clearly inferior to the Miller of today.

Just to be clear, I'm all for signing Bo, but at the right price. If it comes down to overpaying one and getting rid of the other, I 100 times out of 10 would rather have JTM.  Teams don't get anywhere by making emotional decisions. If Horvat gets anything over 6 million, in my opinion, that's an overpay

I agree I said this while ago we should be trading bo lower age would come cheaper for other teams good value I’m way more for making miller captain of this team

Everything I have heard about him from scouts has me hoping we grab him at 15 if Minktyukov (however you spell it) is not available. Noah Warren is another comparable that Cosentino was talking about on NHL Radio this morning who we could grab in the late 20s or possibly early 2nd if we can get another pick. He called him a solid 3-4 shutdown dman in the vein of a Cernak or McDonagh that does not score points, but also does not give up much and loves to play the body. Sounds like the snarl we need on our blueline.

Canucks fan needs Pray Russian factor kicks in and we leave with minty

To van: Bratt, zacha, 2nd overall

to njd: Miller, garland, 15 overall

It’s hypothetical but, Ya we win this trade but not acquiring a dman for Miller would leave our D in shambles for another year

If I’m giving up Garland to no way in hell I’m giving up 15th

To Njd: Miller Garland 2023 2nd Dermott

To Van: Bratt Bahl 2nd overall

    2nd overall=Slafkovsky
    15th Overall=Mintyukov
