Worked great for the Avs, and pretty much every Cup winner in the last 20 years except for the 2011 Bruins.  We don’t need to tank, but we sure do need at least one more key elite core piece.

How do we get that piece?  It’s almost always through the draft or by trading a recently high pick.

I can’t lie I’d prolly shed a tear if Canucks landed bedard I watched many pats game this kid is on mcdavid level talent wise

almost every year some team in the middle of the pack in the 1st inherits a really good pick. I'm thinking thats us this year.

Alf is high on Lambert. Maybe we get bigger Hughes 2.0. I don't see our mgmt group paying to move up a few spots in this draft tho, so we'll just have to wait and see.

Yea I like few prospects around that range Columbus 12 would be amazing for jt, to assure we get him and potentially another centre

dunno, looking at Bob Mac's final draft list I could see a few teams selecting Geekie and Lambert ahead of us. Also add in the Russian factor right now and he might be off some lists too.

But yes this is the kind of luck we need, a top 10 d falling to us at 15.

Ya I just think tape on him is to good.He might be smartest player in draft high iq and human break out himself. One can dream he’s there at 15.

It's definitely risky because we'll have to hit on the majority of trades and signings, perhaps at an unrealistic level.

But no matter how good any plan is, execution is obviously a big part of it. Even if we blow it up and scorch the earth there's no guarantee that's done right, and if it's not, we're looking at another dark decade.

I’m loving idea of Peeke 12 teix if we can walk away from draft with Peeke mintyukov Teix Lambert/Kasper/Cooley. That would be huge for franchise.

That’s exactly what we will need.  I think Lambert has the ceiling of a key core piece, and could be contributing in the 2023/24 season.

Yes I agree I am higher on lambert then most but  Pavel Mintyukov is my guy. I’d be thrilled if we scooped 12 Peeke and Teix for miller. Draft lambert and pavel it would be huge for our franchise.

    Podz Horvat Garland

    Kuz Petey Boeser

    Teix Lambert

    Hughes Peeke

    Ek Pavel

    Looks good in 2 years.

its the timing. Outside of the top 5 in most drafts you're looking at 3-4 years before a kid can make an impact.

There’s some sneaky picks we could have at 15 who might make jump in 2 maybe 3 I love kasper lambert Pickering But my favourite prospect  Pavel Mintyukov this kid is Hughes 2.0 and could make the jump as fast as him imagine having two Quinn hughes.

I don't think Sanheim is the type of defenceman we need. First, he is another LHD left handed defenceman. Secondly, any defenceman we would get from the Flyers lineup will be on an all-time confidence low after the previous two seasons. Kind of like OEL leaving Arizona. Thirdly, really non-physical defenceman. Less than half a hit per game over 80 games. And he plays 23 minutes a game. I don't see him making any space for Hughes.

Frost was drafted high but has been trending downward with the AHL Phantoms.

And I'd rather have the Flyers 2022 1st so we could draft Nemec or Jiricek.

So while I think the formula is right (1st, Top 4 D, and prospect), I think the only asset I would ever want from Philly right now is a high draft pick or Konecny with some cap retention.

Right idea, wrong team for me. But that's just my two cents.

I really Sanhiem with ek he’s played primary on right side and was plus 11 one worst team in nhl

Best partner Hughes ever had was Tanev who is excellent at moving the puck up ice and in general makes smart first passes and good outlets.

Zadorov is just a slightly better Luke schenn and frankly given the cap hits, Canucks are better off playing luke schenn in that spot

I watched a lot flames games your underestimating him and I think he can be had  for under 4 mil I like him and Rutta as partners for hughes in free agency

I’m assuming you mean he ranked top 10 in preventing shots against and scoring chances against on a PER 60 basis but if that’s our barometer for top 4 -raw on-ice stats unadjusted for team strength or quality of competition- why not sign Ian Cole? He had equally good numbers and will cost a lot less.

or trade for Conor Clifton or Marcus Pettersson or Derek forbort. All 3 could be had for very little and all 3 had similar on-ice defensive numbers.

reality is Zadorov, while strong and good with his stick and good at blocking shots, has poor transition play and negative value offensive play. Canucks NEED pick movers. It’s the main thing Rutherford indemnified as a problem with this team is their inability to break the puck out. Zadorov does not help in this regard and paying him 4+ million to essentially be a #4 defensive Dman is poor use of the Canucks cap and roster space

But your right we need one those and zadarov for us excel we need 2 defencemen
