We fans will never hear the real news on what went down, who wanted what rebuild/retool. We can speculate all we want but that’s really not factual and will just create another “Kesler banged Schneiders fiancé” rumour that we will hear about from fans but never get to get the real story. I will say over my time watching this team from 94 to now. The three owners of the Canucks have all been very generous in spending payroll, helping the team win. The Griffiths were like the aquailini’s, local owners who were fans of the club just like us all. They sold team to McCaw in 1997. I admire John McCaw allowing Burke and Nonis be able to do their job of hockey operations without hearing about ownership getting in the way of things. You would never hear about him and even at games would send decoy limousines out front of GM place to sneak out of the building. He was shy of the limelight to this market. Quiet but giving the GM and president the resources and autonomy allowing the GM to be rational and precise with his plan. In 2004 Francisco Aquilini bought 50% of GM place and the team. Then bought it outright in 2006. From then and until now the Aquilini’s have been in full control with the team. And as a fan I hear more news from insiders and hockey people that FA likes to be hands on where as the previous two owners would allow the hockey people to do hockey things. I would very much as a fan hope that FA has learned his lesson and not hire a GM who is a yes man but a GM who won’t allow the owner to change his plan so he can “just make the playoffs” for that revenue. It will just be a revolving door if FA remains to be hands on. No GM with an assertive mind will want to come here if he doesn’t get full control of the team. Yes I understand owners are the ones signing the cheques but as just a fan I see a cycle pattern with Gillis (GMMG did have control but lost it after the 2012-2013 season and had to pamper to FA’s demands a la Torts signing. Now I see the same cycle happening with Benning. If Frankie can’t help himself get involved because he doesn’t trust the management, then cut him loose. Don’t let a irrational GM make moves because he is holding onto his last life. Playoffs are great and last year’s run was a fun rush. But that shouldn’t be the end goal. If FA doesn’t support a rebuild I fear we are going to be in a mediocre and middling team that’s just good enough for the playoffs but not good enough to contend. Can we please have some more patience FA? Because 51 seasons and no cups, the plan needs to be well planned and we’ll executed. That takes time and trust. FA must trust the people he hires rather than meddle, otherwise we will just be spinning our wheels until they fall off. Sorry for the long story but that’s all I have to say about this topic. Let the shadow stay as a shadow.

https://dailyhive.com/vancouver/vancouver-real-estate-asian-reality-show-agent-unbreakable While it’s not quite world wide news. This is local, it’s disturbing and tone deaf that the producer isn’t reading the room in the midst of a pandemic. And his comments about how this is modern day exclusion is a joke. This is what’s wrong with our city and to try and launch this pretentious, superficial aggrandizement show just signals how out of touch and divided our home of Vancouver has become. Sad thing is I know one of the actors, turned into such a sellout.

It was one of the happiest but sudden moments/goals of my memories of being a Canucks fan. Juice is forever a beauty. Sorry just realized this was already posted but still a great memory among fans.

A realistic analysis of Jim Benning's tenure so far

All I gotta say is, was it a high priority this off season to go after OEL? Most of the talk among this forum was how his contract would cripple this team. The idea of acquiring this player was never a good idea. Glad we never went through with the deal (he’s now injured) but it’s the time that he wasted in the days leading up to free agency. That was his time and window to get creative with dumping salary to retain Tofu and possibly others. But now after hearing his interview yesterday and used “ran out of time”as a justification is not acceptable. We all pay attention to our time management in our jobs because say I come into work late and say “I ran out of time” to your boss, is he going to give you a pass? I will say that Benning has been our best Drafter (wither that’s him or Brackett remains to be seen) this team had ever had. Sure he’s had his misses with a few but what GM hasn’t. That said, it’s getting harder and harder to have this guys back when he has made self inflicted mistakes. As horrible for me to say this because a few years ago I was laughing at the position that Oilers GM Peter Chiarelli put the team in with all the bad contracts, we aren’t far off from them. And that’s a sad reality that I think it’s hard for fans to deny. I will always have the best interests for this team but it’s hard to justify the position we are in this season.
