Finished my hockey pool with my Wolfpack last night and it’s days like today that bring in a new energy. With the season starting right around a new year, it’s even more of that “new and Christmas” feel to it. Happy hockey is back and always happy to discuss the season with all you fine hockey folk on here! Let’s go and kick the $€!+ out of the coilers. Edmonton was good to us this past summer, let’s see if we still have that bubble ice magic.

That the Canucks are cap compliant and all the fear mongering that Rick and Co at that station worked so hard to scream and shout this off season was all for not. And now being compliant and WRONG he is being condescending on Jim for doing his job and being under the cap. The media never apologies for their mistakes and always double down or find something else to worry about. The problem being TSN1040 pitty party of not broadcasting Canucks games because we are a good team and those boys are salty AF

This doesn’t surprise me to be honest. We have a hungry young team that keeps pushing each other but not only that. They need to be physical because they don’t have any tune up pre season games this season to get geared up for the regular season. I don’t like the idea of them laying each other out, but I can understand the logic for it.

I am sorry buddy but Ferland will be put on LTIR so we make the room for Hamonic to join the team. And while Ferland did play in the playoffs you know he got a concussion after he fought against the Wild right? You know his concussion history right? With that all said he won’t be back this season and possibly won’t be back for good sadly. You can bet before the puck drops next week Ferland will be on LTIR. Bank it. edited: as @RWMc1 mentioned above he is already on LTIR.

After some thought I realize how much of an old man shouting at clouds I came across as. I take back my comment and have no issues to the ad on the top of the helmet when the decals won’t be effected. God I can’t wait until hockey comes back so the little things don’t set me off... there’s always Louie for that.

I have only one issue to this. What will happen when players/coaches like Luc Bourdon, Rick Rypien and the late great Pat Quinn passed away. It was always the helmet that the organization would put the decals to remember those members of the club. Where do the decals go now that the ads have taken over on the helmets? It was a good spot to represent the great soldiers of this franchise that we lost. Would hate to lose this salute to the fallen Canucks due to corporate greed. As long as they keep those alone I’m ok with the ads on the helmet even though the red has no part of the team colour scheme

I didn't think the Hog hype would land a spot on Bo's wing this season but gosh dang it I sure love surprises. He's jumped ahead of Lind on the depth chart and Lind has a few more years on Hogs. Keep that Calder streak going because it looks like we just may have another one.

We haven’t given up an even strength goal yet?! That’s frickin insane! Hopefully it’s a close game and never gets old facing the yanks for the gold.

There is for sure a butterfly effect for if things did end up differently. We would’ve finished higher in the standings if we picked Chucky because having him on our team would’ve made us better in the standings therefor would we draft Petterson? Do we draft Hughes? And I agree that if we had the luxury of having the Laine pick would we be in the same situation as he is in with the Jets right now. Plus I don’t think he would be on the team anyways when Bo made it a team rule of NO FORTNITE. All about that Mario Kart on the flights.

This was what was so frustrating about the 2016 draft. We got screwed on the draft lotto and WPG getting the #2 OA which was of course Laine. All the while we were statistically the 2nd worst team in the league that year and got bumped to 5th. Ok I accepted that and was also convinced we would land PLD. I thought CBJ would’ve picked PoolParty and EDM would’ve picked OJ. When it came to us I thought we were going to pick either Chucky or OJ but at the time I was upset we didn’t pick Chucky. Many would say they would still pick MT7 but I wouldn’t want that $&!¥ on our team. I totally hear you on how you feel/felt

We needed this badly on the right side. I know many were worried about having Benn or a raw rookie as our third pair RHD. This really helps the pairings in a big way and happy that we got him on a PTO. Will see how much he and his agent want because I don’t think we have much or any cap left.

That would unofficially make Patrice Bergeron the new captain of the Bruins. He’s already been the face of that team forever. Or they could give it to Pasta but Patrice has earned it. Anyways nice for Chara to join the great 8.

Some fans forget how Jordan Schroeder was setting new USA WJHC records after we drafted him and how we had a real keeper with that pick. How did he end up? Oh yeah he’s out of the league playing for the Nizhny Novgorod Torpedo. Funny how when we don’t see instant results fans jump off the wagon like it’s burning and when prospects that have a good start but fizzle out but the fans have already made a statue, ROH and jersey retirement all set before they play an NHL game. People just have to cool their jets and allow the career to unfold. I hear ya. Every game that a prospect has a good outing fans cry out loud because we missed the pick because of a good game. Totally hear you on that.

Nice what games you playing on that bad boy? I managed to get one on the holidays as well. I’m guessing you got Madden?

After reading Gurn’s more detailed post on the story I take back what I said about the travel. Says they never travelled.

Canucks will finish 4th in the North (Scotia) Division and plays the Toronto Maple Leafs in the first round and keeps the first round curse intact and the fanbase in TO loses its mind. Canucks play the Flames in the 2nd round and win in game 7 OT. Only to go to the Conference Finals and lose to the eventual cup champions in the Colorado Avalanche. Top 5 players on team this season: Petey gets 60 points in 55 games. Boeser 50pts Hughes 42pts Miller 40pts Bo Scorvat 35pts Demko with 18 wins and wins starting job midway in the season when Holtby gets injured but Demko holds down the Fort. Hogs has a good start but fizzles down the stretch. Has 10 goals and 18 points in 40 games with the team.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Don Taylor and Jim Houston are the best duo to ever do the commentary for this franchise. And ever since they have been replaced, it’s gotten worse and worse every year. I will say at least this year they didn’t have Snoop come in as a special guest in the 2nd period. That I can be thankful for. But totally agree and wish he could take his own advise when CBall says: GTFO

With the year that everyone has gone through I hope you all have a nice pause and inhale of festive enjoyment and normalcy. It might not be as big of a crowd this year but it’s still Christmas and the holidays. Cheers to all of you Canuck Fam and have a safe and happy holiday!
