  1. Yzerman is like Sakic: one the shrewdest GM, in the NHL. No chance he moves Moritz since he targeted him by going offboard with that selection.
  2. Third straight rookie GM, tasked with re tool 2.0. Both the Ducks & Kings are almost done with there respective rebuilds and it occured during Bennings retool - which team(s) do you think is ready to be competitive ? As for Allvins' retool the two teams heavily rebuilding are the Yotes & Gorton led Habs. Good chance, the ever rebuilding Yotes will continue as one but the Habs might look like the Rags, that Gorton built: a team with big ticket players being supported by homegrown talents, still mostly in there elc...
  3. Hughes partner should be a player that is younger or the same age, as him. Preferably, a homegrown talent but that player doesn't really exist in the system - big maybe, on Juulsen or Woo ? I was looking forward to Woo but due to injuries & Cull he has gone down the OJ development path: regressed to a non prospect, with a draft pedigree. Anyways, any trade should focus on replenishing the prospect depth, either from premium picks and prospects at the beginning of there elc. Allvin has a big tasked and will he be able to deliver or not ? When is the draft cause that is when all of our questions will PERHAPS be answered and let's enjoy the FINALS (looking like it will be a good one and my $, is on Tampa cause of Vasilevsky).
  4. All are almost done/pass there elc and outside of there draft pedigree, two had shown they are not really special players ( Kakko & Kratsov). Preferably, multiple premium picks (2 to 3 first round picks, like the deal that the Laffs paid for Kessel) and a RD prospect from the Rags cause the playoffs experience should make them want to go back - so the cost for Miller should go up for them. I still prefer a deal with NJ and/or LA cause of there prospect depth and potential to still bottom out...
  5. Good points and when I heard this rumour - I read it as, JR & Allvin will be looking to make "POTENTIALLY' some (significant) changes; and to give the fans & (media) schills some fodder to chew on during these slow news days. Iam still cautiously optimistic, anything will happen but it is looking like the draft is where the fireworks will be lit or it will all be a dud and the only significant add, will be the 1st round pick cause there were a lot hype around the TDL but only small moves. Small moves but not insignificant cause the Hamonic deal was surprising and the Dermott deal was underwhelming/unnecessary cause he is still a LHD, "that is capable of playing the right side". Seen alot of those and it doesn't really work unless, the LHD is an exceptional D; perhaps Hughes ? But he is not yet there, as a #1 D.
  6. Valid points. Perhaps in the early stage of pro sport most of the players outside the super stars, were being pampered somewhat in the locker room but the pay is not enough to retire on - just look at the CFL, as a modern example.
  7. Now that the Rags had been eliminated, will they revisit a Miller trade ? My guess: the cost to acquire Miller - just went up for the Rags and preferably, Allvin would still focus in, on NJ (first) with LA as a secondary option, to perhaps create a bidding war. Both teams just have a lot to offer in prospects and the likelihood of bottoming out owning one of there 1st, is still very good.
  8. Yeah, both Alberta teams are probably headed for NHL purgatory cause both are top heavy with limited cap and a lack of prospect depth - sounds familiar ? Imo, the team to emulate is Colorado cause of the job Sakic is doing to keep than core together, through good situational awareness: good drafting, knowing when to sell high on a player and understanding the cycles a team goes through.
  9. Every team is using there (own) version of analytics - now. Even JR said, in his last interview that he was using a VERSION OF IT, decades ago. Like I said, it still comes down to the person using the tool and I still consider it, as nothing but a tool, whilst, to some it is the answer to everything.
  10. It always comes to down to the person using it and I did say: someone with a championship pedigree. Also, every team is using there version of analytics - heck, even Green was said, to be a big believer of analytics (based on what, I heard on the radio) It is obvious, from Yzerman to Brisebois that there is a transition plan within there front office, to mitigate any losses in there ranks. Did you listen to JRs' last interview with Donnie & Dhali, about his opinion on analytics ? If not give it a go; and I agree, with him that analytics can be a useful tool, to confirm a decision; but some team, seems to had gone full in. Good chance, there are examples of teams that are on the opposite sides of the standings AND THERE IS REALLY NO WAY TO CONFIRM HOW TAMPA, IS USING ANALYTICS AND/OR TO WHAT DEGREE. I also do understand that analytics, is here to stay - for now.
  11. Well said cause I also watched Linden developed into a Captain by LEADING: he wasn't hesitant in getting his hands dirty. As for the Laffs: there current front office (Dubas) are heavily involved in analytics and the intangibles that Kadri offered in spades cannot be measured accurately using analytics - only a GM, that values such things or has a pedigree, of winning (championship) can recognize that there is more to roster building, than ONLY/MAINLY using & relying on analytics. So good chance, Kadri was traded cause they taught he could easily be replaced. As for Bo, I wasn't sold that he should had been promoted Captain, at that stage of his career. Imo, Tanev would had been a better choice but I get it cause the last regime was SO clueless when it comes to winning that it is not surprising that the whole process of naming, a young Bo as Captian, was nothing more than a publicity stunt (including Aquaman). Anyways, despite JRs' mistakes his record confirms that he knows how to win..
  12. Linden understood what it means to be a Captain and Bo (seems to) just want the label on his jersey; but one main thing they both have in common, albeit a brief one for Bo, is that both seems to enjoy & perform, in the playoffs - imo. I also remember that instance with Podz and it was disappointing to see Bo not engage. Anyways and preferably, Bo stays but Miller should be the Captain and I am not so sure, how that scenario would play out.
  13. Don't think it is about respect - rather than it is just business. The players understands and if a team takes Pearson, that is more intune with his age, then he can have another chance at a cup and perhaps have better stats for another contract.. ...
  14. The team Gorton built is in the ECF and he has done a lot to improve the Habs rebuild, by the trading of veteran players for picks
  15. Nice signing by Gorton and I wonder, if he is enjoying the team he built potential making the Finals: The Rags ?
  16. Good context; and JRs' drafting record has been a mix bag but his overall record with Car & Pit has culminated in three cups - hence, he knows how to win, despite, his drafting record & etc. It would probably be safe to compare the Canucks to Carolina vs Pittsburgh cause in Pittsburgh he inherited the Crosby core vs in Carolina. Only caveat with the Canucks: is would he be willing to stay past his 3yr contract cause in Carolina he was there for more than a decade, to build up that roster; and (luckily) faced an Edmonton that had a Cinderella run to the Finals, under the (ELITE) goaltending of Robison ? Guess, it will depend how well this experiment will turn out and it starts with how successful this offseason will be....
  17. Rags are clicking in the playoffs and will probably not revisit a Miller trade - unless, the Bolts can eliminate them (easily).
  18. More than likely, he is being catfish by the Spoilers; and doesn't McD have a say, if he wants to play with him or not ? Also, good chance other GM's will know that his inflated numbers were due to his playing time with Mcd - thus, not getting a real gauge, on his ability to drive play & create opportunities. I would argue, that he would get far more suitors & increase his value by improving a team with lesser talent - only of course, if he is willing to bet on himself. Risky but the reward, is endless; and if he chooses the Spoilers for the obvious reasons of playing with McD, then I am glad he didn't end up, with the Canucks cause it would mean a player that is not really worth pursuing but I understand his (flawed) logic - if the rumoured reasons, are true.
  19. Yeah, highly unlikely, the Spoilers gets past Colorado. Hoping for a Tampa & Colorado finals...
  20. NJ despite there talent, is stiĺl (currently) a mediocre club based on there overall record for a few years now. In theory, talent should equal wins; and it seems Fitzgerald understand that a roster needs to be diverse and not one dimensional. I agree, with most of the posters that Miller would be a good fit but Fitzgerald will have to see it, as well.
  21. What a mess but it seems she is ready to move on and all the best to her.
  22. Heard Bouchard is not looking good ? Not sure; but the Spoilers & Avs series are fun to watch..
  23. Good chance, Fitzgerald might become JRs' ,Craig Patrick: the GM who acquired the Crosby core, whilst, JR lead them to a few cups.
  24. NJ is a mess despite there high end players. I agree, that Miller is a good fit with there young roster: a talented and veteran player that was able to evolve his game from when he was with Tampa to Vancouver. As for Blackwood, he is a Vezina candidate vs the Canucks.
