  1. Cheers Deb. Don't get me wrong. I like Detroit's prospect pool and wish we would have done a bit more long term planning (like no OEL and Garland trade, less yearly spending), however I wouldn't trade our situation and Petey, Hughes, Demko, Kuzmenko, for it either. I love these guys. We are not Detroit, we are Canucks. Let's go ... I'm really hoping we get a stud player at #11 and he's in the line-up sooner than later. Best of both worlds for us!
  2. Fair enough. It's just semantics I think at this point. You have every right to see it how you want and describe it how you want. To me it's blatantly and simply obvious they have taken more steps to build their prospect pool up than we have. I would say they're further ahead in that sense, on paper or whatever words you choose, we can call it whatever you want. I'm not too interested in arguing about that part of it. Nothing is guaranteed though as you say but I do envy that prospect pool and the hoard of top talent they are going to add to it. Can I say that and have it make sense without argument? I was in the middle of editing my last post when you replied. I was going to agree with you and say there are some very good reasons to be excited. We now have our best opportunity in years to actually ice a competitive playoff team, if we can add the right pieces. Finally, the cap is there, and we got rid of a huge road block on the back end.
  3. I think part of the point he's trying to make is if your team sucks, like ours has the past (7-10) years you should hopefully be doing things like accumulating high picks, while not spending to the cap, and planning for the future. Detroit has done that quite well and we haven't. As such they have a far better prospect pool and one could argue a better platform to build a team. Not to say it guarantees them success or anything, they of course still have their challenges (lack our top end talent) but 5 picks in the top 43 this year is going to potentially set them up very nicely in addition to their already solid pipeline. I think any honest person would have to admit this. I don't really think it adds value to have a pissing contest about who is better at being worse but there is definitely value in having high picks while you are building your team up from the bottom. As @wai_lai416 mentioned spending to the cap through Covid was a poor, short-sighted move that set the franchise back years. We should have been far better situated in terms of both prospects and cap expenditures. Unfortunately, those cards are played and we are left navigating through a bit of tricky times cap wise. Hopefully Allvin and Co pull it off.
  4. Yup he is. I wouldn't say "great" as of yet but potentially yes. Hopefully we are able to jettison our surplus of wingers and redeploy that cap space more appropriately. It sure would be fun to be in a playoff game for once in a very long time.
  5. That's Benning level dumb though. He signed Garland in much the same fashion. Decent player, decent cap hit. Not what we needed at all and now we're looking to add picks to dump him. Hopefully that is not the result this time and he pays off moving forward but he did nothing to help our cause last year. He was a completely unnecessary piece which could have been used towards defence. Hopefully his PK is improved via being healthy as that was one of the main selling points.
  6. Still doesn't change the messed up priority. Same as this year, signing a Mikeyhev type winger and no defence would be another bad/questionable move.
  7. Bear sucks. We should be staying far away from this player. Especially with a major injury, it makes no sense.
  8. If he wanted to do that he shouldn't have taken a 6 year vacation while his shot at the best league in the world was wasting away. What a bum. Easy pass.
  9. Pretty tempting. What else would make sense as Allvin stated his desire to move up?
  10. Hahaha ha. That was terrific. Do not mess with PA boys. They will f$&k you up. Lol
  11. Is Simashev actually going to be at the draft?
  12. They shouldn't have went into win now mode but the fanbase is kind of fickle. Don't think a full rebuild would have went well.
  13. I agree it makes absolutely zero sense. They'll be getting the #1 Center they need at #3 ready to insert in the line-up in the next year or two at most. Different players for sure Rathbone has little value ... I think Hoglander gets it closer but it's not an overpayment imo. Slightly under if that.
  14. Yeah I get that but to me he has done something a little more accomplished than those two. He's done it all year long again and again, not just a good WJ. I totally get what you're saying though. A little high for 11 but like I said I wouldn't be surprised when he goes 15-20 he ends up being a top 10 guy. I also would most likely take 3-5 guys before him at our pick.
  15. I still don't think he has much value. If he was a positive asset someone should have taken him for free when he was being shopped, regardless of our bargaining power at the time.
  16. I always figured this would be a good player and likely will be a steal in this draft. You don't accumulate the totals he did without having some special talent.
  17. My gawd I can't believe the amount of posters that say this stuff. Same with Dahlen back in the day. So true this isn't kindergarten and you don't keep $6.5 million dollar playmates for professional hockey players in the NHL. Like honestly lol.
  18. I have been educated. I feel shame.
  19. Good luck my friend! You will kick some ass out there. Take no prisoners, just great hockey players.
  20. It's all good. I appreciate the information. Check out the vid. It's got some great highlights and it is quite flattering showcasing his shooting, skating, and goal scoring. Do you have some footage that is more representative. I will add Bo is not a horrible player either. A faster more defensively able Bo with better playmaking and shooting is not a bad projection either. Pretty similar stats ... one played on a powerhouse the other a cellar dweller. Bo 2011-12 London Knights OHL 64 11 19 30 8 27 2012-13 London Knights OHL 67 33 28 61 29 3 2013-14 London Knights OHL 54 30 44 74 36 20 Nate 2020-21 Brandon Wheat Kings WHL 24 3 12 15 8 1 2021-22 Brandon Wheat Kings WHL 53 23 34 57 34 18 2022-23 Brandon Wheat Kings WHL 68 33 45 78 38 -12
  21. I will defer to you as I'am sure you have watched him far more than me. My comment is just on the highlight video where it's a lot of north south one against all comers. Kind of like Bo used to play. Well that's good to hear he is more of a playmaker. I did note when his teammates were caught up to him he made good passes.
  22. Bo Horvat reincarnate ... very similar in how Danielson always attacks single mindedly straight forward to the net, and has that one move to get through defenders. His passes tend to work a little better than Bo's when a teammate is able to get into the play.
