  1. I'm liking Leonard, Yager, Reinbacher, Danielson, Moore, Barlow, and ASP. Happy with anyone of these guys really.
  2. Not always. There are a bunch of yahoos that still want Tryampkin on the team.
  3. Really ... ? What is it at now? I googled and it says just over 6". Interesting but I would say having big guys that can play is probably a real difference maker in that case. We sure do seem to get pushed around and bullied but perhaps that is just lack of commitment/speed.
  4. Nah, Martin sucks. I would sign any of 10 or more available goalies. He's proven he can't play at an NHL level.
  5. They are getting closer. TB, and Toronto are heading for a world of hurt in short order. Florida is simply a middling team now, and Buffalo and Detroit, are in the same boat. I like what Ottawa is doing and they will be in the playoffs the year after if not next. You make it sound like a lost cause or they're doing something wrong. They have a great young team in the best league in the world. Like you said. A strong defender or two and this team is going to be hard to beat for a long time.
  6. Bear sucks If we pay Bear $3 mil I think that's the straw that breaks the camel's back for me. I think I'd walk away from this team at that point. There is also a giraffe joke about our animal defence in there. I would pay him nothing and tell him to hit the road. He sucks. A Tryamkin Bear pairing. Worst in history
  7. Yeah I think he's capable of playing well. I hope that's what we get. Just think if we somehow flipped Myers and replaced him with a decent top 4. All of the sudden our defence looks competent throughout. Guys like Hirose, Wolanin, Johansson, McWard, Juulsen, Burroughs, UFA are playing for the bottom spots and all at minimum salaries. Like NHL teams do. That's a pretty good situation for OEL to flourish in if he has the offseason RT is talking about.
  8. Yup. We got a lot riding on that unfortunately. Hoping his pride kicks in and he comes back as the second coming of Bobby Orr lol. Actually I would thrilled with a Hamhuis style of simple but solid.
  9. Lol any line with Myers on will always be an ugg for me but hopefully they can play somewhat decently if it comes to that. For myself I will be happy if just OEL doesn't look like he belongs in the beer league. Lots of questions to be answered defensively.
  10. Hmmm, I don't I think there was more than coaching. Namely the personnel on the backend, 3C, PK, defensive commitment in the top 6. some size/compete issues. Hopefully it doesn't come to it but we'll see what happens if nothing is done. This is a big fallacy portrayed around here. Their numbers looked good but Myers was absolutely tragic and OEL was simply adequate.
  11. We don't really get serious around here until we hit 500. 1000 if it's really big news.
  12. Yeah, I'm never a fan of trading down unless you've lost your draft papers or something and can't remember who was ranked where. In this case that would mean our scouting staff couldn't find a distinction between spots 11 and 40. That's not very good scouting. Sure wish we had a second though for one of the many strong players ranked 20-40. Fun draft year.
  13. When you're drafting you hope the player you draft has the quality to make it. Those that do show promise and can play before this fictional 5 year period I keep hearing about.
  14. Severson has been tossed around here but I think he's in for a bigger contract. I think Shattenkirk, and Gudas could be short term options. The best replacement would be Mayfield though, he's 6.5 and 220. Just what our d needs but he could be looking for term and I'd be wary of another Myers situation there. @aGENT has suggested a guy like Mark Prysk as a one year stop gap or we bring back Schenn, which could work too. To be honest I probably wouldn't jump or overpay anyone this year and maybe look at trading our next year first for a cost controlled prospect ready to make the jump and then pair him with Hughes. We're at the point we almost need the player to have some size to beef up our D.
  15. I can almost guarantee they are not paying Gavrikov top dollar with term as a LD to play RD. He won't be coming to the Canucks.
  16. I think Raty is a great candidate. Maybe a year or two away though. Stop gap until then.
  17. If we truly want to compete I agree the RD needs to addressed. It might not come until the following year but we'll have to see what Allvin and Co have got cooking. Finally we're filling our depth d with prospects and minimum wagers instead of trying to roll out 3 3mil dollar 3rd liners. I'm relatively hopeful they will be able to accomplish this. It just depends if they try to get a Hughes partner now or a stop gap until Giraffe guy is gone. I wouldn't be surprised to see them pull it off.
  18. Yeah exactly I was going to mention that. Would a veteran guy even want to sign here if he had to fight Silovs for a job? I guess if we could get a good enough goalie that figures he's better than some kid. Would be great for us because Silovs definitely didn't look out of place. Varlamov, Fredrick Anderson, Talbot, Quick, Reimer, Greiss, Jones, and Craig Anderson, would be candidates for a 1 year deal. Maybe even Hill, or Brossoit, out of LV.
  19. Ah okay thanks. Either there was a misquote or I misunderstood. I think that's a reasonable move. I'd rather sign someone else to the minimum contract though. I think there will be goalies out there that could be far better.
  20. I liked what I saw from him too. Didn't see the presser but didn't someone on here say that they didn't intend to have Silovs in Van next year? Can anyone confirm if this is true?
  21. On a good team like Carolina Bear is on the bench.
  22. Well to be honest those guys didn't make our defence any better in any meaningful way this year and they had to trade Horvat to do it. Next year Hronek may make a difference but he also puts us over the cap. Thus the concern.
  23. Hang in there buddy. I have it on good authority Petey and Hughes are implementing a win it for Alflives campaign. Within 3 years guaranteed.
  24. At league minimum that would be great imo. We can't afford to pay anymore. Weren't these the same executive geniuses who had zero dollars to improve the defence last year and had to pay a second round pick to dump Dickinson's salary? After 5 years+ of no cap space to make necessary improvements, unfortunately I think everyone has a right and more so should definitely be concerned about the cap situation. If they care about the quality of the team next year and beyond that is. No team is non-compliant because they can't be. Like you said it's pretty simple to add numbers up to 82. I don't think any management team is messing that up. It doesn't mean that teams couldn't be made better if they had more cap space. There is a reason everyone is talking about our lack of space.
