Tanner Pearson just standing there letting the guy kill the rest of the clock says it all. You never stop competing 110% until the game is over no matter what the score is. Knowing this franchise they’ll probably reward a play like that with more ice time and a contract extension

Whoever said we make every goalie look like 1997-98 Hasek, truer words have never been spoken

Every &^@#ing thing about this team is just passive. Passive PK. Just give their best players all the time and space in the world. Passive PP. Just the most disgusting, gross passive defensive system I've ever witnessed. Not a single other NHL team plays like the Canucks do in the defensive zone. And I wonder why. Because it's &^@#ing garbage and gives up non stop chances with all kinds of breakdowns. Passive forecheck. No one is ever aggressively forechecking the defenseman...it's always soft &^@#ing garbage oh I'll just put my stick in there and let him make the easy play. God forbid I use the body and try to do anything else.
The only redeemable coaching is the goaltending. Everything else is absolute &^@#ing garbage.
Yeah it’s a sport built on aggression. Playing on your toes. Gretzky was a gentlemanly player and almost never engaged physically, but he went after loose pucks with a fury and the puck just seemed to follow him. You have to play this game with a competitive fire, every single shift.

At this point you have to just laugh at the Canucks. Getting upset isn’t fun, but if you have a sense of humor about their woeful performances it’s way easier to tolerate.

We're really gonna lose to Buffalo arent we?
After losing to Detroit. That’s humiliating

You probably said the same thing about the Sedin's, if you were even a fan back then. A player as smart and skilled as Petey won't ever stop improving. He's only 22.
Fair point. Yeah I’ve been a fan since after Bure’s rookie year. I was probably more patient with the Sedins because the West Coast Express was there & the Sedins didn’t have to drive the offense those first few years. But honestly I’m just frustrated, I want to feel proud of this team again, really get excited by what I see on the ice and save for a brief period in the bubble, I haven’t been too excited about the Canucks very often for 5-6 years now unfortunately.
-
I think this 3rd period will tell you a lot about the Canucks right now. Come out hard and with fire, and win the game? I think a lot of the critics will quiet down. Play with 75% intensity & lose? The critics will only get louder

It takes time to build that kind of chemistry and comradery. Remember, some of that team played together since the Moose.
HOFers like the Sedins, hard-nosed players with guts & character like Kesler, Burrows, Hansen & Bieksa and one of the league’s best goaltenders in Luongo. Our current team has almost no gritty or hard-nosed forwards. Kesler & Burrows used to go looking for trouble, this group seems to do whatever it takes to avoid it

I used to complain when the Canucks would win their division and get knocked out by the Blackhawks in the 2nd round. I would give anything to have that good of a Canucks team again! Those teams were great they just couldn’t get it done in the postseason.

Pettersson is definitely a good player, but I’m sorry, I can’t agree with the argument that he’s elite. I’ve been extremely unimpressed with him in the first 4 games. He had a great rookie year, but he’s not all that fast, still gets knocked off the puck way too easy, and passes up way too many good shooting opportunities.
-
If we have a really lackluster season again, it’s hard to imagine Green and Benning not being fired. This has gotten so tiresome. I can’t think of another team in the NHL, that has any kind of success, that just lets other teams have all kinds of open space to just rip uncontested shots at the net at will.
-
Man I am not impressed with our team at all. Slow, not physical, not competing, zero fire & totally passive. It’s the same thing we’ve seen from this group for four or more years now. Really hard to argue it’s not the coaching. Unless we’re just not very good idk
-
I almost never say things like this, but the zebras 100% robbed the Canucks of at least 1 point. There’s no way it can be goalie interference if you stay out of the crease, which Hoglander did! That rule is a joke and changes every week.

That goalie interference call was bogus, the white ice belongs to the skaters, the blue is the goalie’s. If you take a slight bump at the top of the blue that’s on you afaic

If the Canucks can’t get the equalizer it’s 100% because Greiss stole the game.
-
I feel like they’re throwing Detroit a bone with that one, that’s 100% a legal hit. I wish they would just call the game as is, instead of trying to “even things up” all the time

That’s not even a 2 minute penalty.

I have not been impressed with Halak at all so far in this game. Needs to be a lot better

I live in Pittsburgh and my wife is a Pens fan. We’re going to the Canucks game in November. Believe me, she never gets tired of seeing the Flyers lose

How come the box score Canucks logo still has the “Vancouver” wordmark over it? ESPN app finally got rid of it

I like that we didn't celebrate a SO win like we won the cup a la Smith and the Soilers
Yeah Miller was just like “whatever, we win.” Loved it

OEL is responsible for his stick, not good. Horvat tries to score on the wrong side of center, it’s risky only up 1 goal. If the Canucks lose the game it’s completely on the entire team.
-
I think the biggest issue I’ve had with this team over the past 3-5 years, and it can be argued it goes back even further, is they don’t have a clear identity. It seemed a couple years ago they were becoming known as a fast team, but they don’t look particularly quick or fast. They’re not physical or gritty, so who are they? I think once they can figure that it out that’ll help them immensely. If they don’t, well, coach and GM will probably need to start typing their resumes.
