  1. Green's process of 2nd period plays every year has me shaking my head. Green is so freaking stubborn. No wonder why we end up having so many goddamn too many men penalties. Something he's doing is confusing the hell out of players.
  2. Green should be fired if this happens, honestly. The Gadj blunder should honestly be a red strike for Green.
  3. Just wow, Green. Wow. Gadj goes on waivers, but Macewen who has shown nothing this preseason is kept for now. We all know that Macewen is in Green's doghouse and won't play, sooo. Green? Are you helping the Canucks tank with your poor decisions?
  4. This is the problem though. This was a dumb risk to take and Green has seemingly helped showcase players for other teams to claim. Gadj has had a fantastic preseason - and we lost him for no reason. Why the hell are we keeping Macewen? And what's hilarious about this? Green isn't going to play Macewen anyway, so this is seemingly Green managing how his doghouse works. Sick of this.
  5. If Juolevi gets waived by coach Green, I'm gonna be on the fire Green bandwagon. Waiving Juolevi is just an indication that he is playing favourites, and that is not something I would want in a coach. Seriously, Rathbone is super exciting, but he's done little besides flash and dash. How do you slot in a defenseman that doesn't have other tools in his box yet? Rathbone is a great prospect, but he is no Quinn Hughes and thus, he cannot be given the same kind of leash that Hughes gets for being a playdriver.
  6. If true, Green is in fact a guy who plays favourites. While we know this to be a basic truth for coaches, this assertion goes against any objective standard that he may pretend to employ. It's clear as day that Juolevi is in this doghouse within a doghouse. We've seen this with Virtanen (to an extent). We've seen this with Goldobin. We've seen this abundantly with Player Name. We've also seen this yearly with Juolevi. There is no way that Rathbone is ahead of Juolevi, based on this preseason. He's been gifted offensive minutes, including PP time and has zero points to show for this. Given how the team has been on the PK a lot, Juolevi does the things that Rathbone seemingly can't do - defend in his own end. Make no mistake, I do not hate Rathbone. I just do not like it when coaches set different standards for players.
  7. I'm just suspecting that Green is favouring certain players. I think it's obvious that he's doing that with Rathbone. He speaks glowingly of him, but is not as excited with Juolevi's performance thus far. It's what I've noticed.
  8. Everyone is just juicing up all the meat they can get. Also, Pietrangelo
  9. Green is using Juolevi to kill penalties. The problem is that he's babying Rathbone and seemingly ignoring his weaknesses to the game. If Rathbone isn't scoring, he's not helping the Canucks in any other way. Green needs to understand this. If we're totally being honest, Juolevi has outplayed Rathbone because Rathbone doesn't really kill penalties, yet the Canucks have been on the PK a lot this preseason. Juolevi's been relied on to kill these penalties and has done a really good job doing so. I think the Canucks would benefit from Juolevi making the team, rather than Rathbone.
  10. Yeah... I would not be happy if Rathbone makes this team, based on his performances in the preseason. I'm not unhappy AT Rathbone though. I'd be unhappy at coaching staff for pushing a player into a spot that isn't entirely deserved. Juolevi has shown more roundness to the game, and you can see it because Green makes him play PK. Almost 5 minutes of PK time for him, and only 8 seconds for Rathbone (lol).
  11. Disagree. Rathbone isn't that great in his defensive zone, but isn't scoring as much as he should to warrant his place in the roster. This is a very young defenseman and he needs more minutes to round out his game. Juolevi should make the team over Rathbone. Green's been overplaying Rathbone these games, and Rathbone's deficiencies become more and more apparent.
  12. Green has been overplaying Rathbone. 7 PPs to kill and Rathbone (who doesn't really kill that many penalties) ends up having more minutes than Juolevi, someone who is a pretty good PKer. That's hilarious, really. I GET why Rathbone is so exciting to watch. i want him to do well, and he is very very good in the offensive end. But it seems like Green is in love with Rathbone, to the point that he's willing to overlook all the deficiencies. I recall how he said Rathbone was like -3 or whatever, but he was "fine with it" Rathbone hasn't been playing THAT good to warrant a start over Juolevi who has been nothing but solid. Juolevi's game has never been flashy, but he is holding his own, which is what the Canucks need. Rathbone in the lineup is NOT helping the Canucks. He needs more AHL time to hone his overall game. Anyone who thinks Rathbone should make the team is biased lol.
  13. The fact that Loui only dealt with two coaches, both of which have their share of question marks, despite producing for the other NHL calibre coaches, I'm not feeling good about Green at all. I don't want to say Green ruins players because he didn't ruin Boeser, nor did he ruin Pettersson nor Hoglander. However, Green's philosophy clearly doesn't work with all players, and this is a problem moving forward. Garland hasn't really been that impressive, and I've been HIGH on Garland. I'm just afraid that Garland will end up 'busting' under a system run by Green that has plenty of flaws on its own. Just wished that we'd take on another coach and give this core a chance. Maybe that will happen, like it did with St. Louis.
  14. Green took what he had, basically broke it down into different pieces and reassembled it with a blender. I have no idea what he was doing with this lineup. There was no chemistry, no sustained pressure. The second period was utterly unwatchable. Unfortunately, Green has done little this preseason to inspire my confidence in him. I actually thought re-hiring Green might be a good thing, considering many players had wanted him back. Yet it seems like he's a decent guy with no real coaching pedigree. I don't want to bash the dude completely. He is a nice guy. It's just that I'm sick of seeing the same problems happen every single year with his rosters. There's always the uninspired second period. Why?
  15. The NHL has lost its way. This is not how you sell a product on the ice. As Shaq says, "the Refs are trying to take over the &^@#ing game"
  16. Kind of sick of Green's meddling. He iced a piss poor lineup with Boeser being one of the few veterans on that team, expecting him to carry that crap lineup. Then he gets him injured in the process. Like who does that? And then Green ices this lineup, AGAIN, with Rathbone in the lineup, but doesn't play players like Woo or Gadjovich. What's he trying to do? Mess with chemistry? So far, Green's done nothing good with this preseason. He iced a nearly full lineup against Calgary and ends up winning 4-2 against a poorly equipped Calgary team (playing new guns). I'm not impressed.
  17. Rathbone's so incredibly overhyped. Holy cow. You're saying Juolevi's overhyped? LOL. Rathbone needs some time in the AHL, period. If you can't see past his own weaknesses in this defensive game, then you're biased. Juolevi is more reliable than Rathbone.
  18. That is a coach problem unfortunately. Stale second periods are something that the coaching staff have to figure out. Maybe Newell Brown wasn't the problem.
  19. People are so mesmerized by Rathbone's game, but he just needs a bit more detail to his game. I kinda lose faith when a coach is talking about Rathbone like he's some perfect princess, when he's not.
  20. I know it's common to talk about the refs, but what about Green's game? Every single game seems to showcase a stale second period. This is DEFINITELY a lingering issue that has yet to be addressed.
  21. I think they should just claim these guys just so they can have an 'enforcer' line...
  22. IMHO, this team has every chance to be better than 2011. The keyword is chance. When you think about it, the 2011 didn't have oodles of skill. It was just underrated/overachieved based on what was 'on paper'. Ballard was not really that good. Alberts/Rome were solid role players. Ehrhoff flourished. Bieksa was tough as nails. Hughes and Ekman Larsson both have oodles of skill that the Canucks never had.
