  1. How about you get out of small towns and look around the bigger parts of Canada? https://vancouversun.com/news/local-news/covid-19-overworked-b-c-nurses-emotionally-traumatized-by-third-wave-and-its-only-gotten-worse Head of B.C. Nurses Union says an estimated 60 per cent of nurses in the province showing ‘serious emotional distress leading up to early signs of PTSD’ More than a year into dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic, nurses in B.C. are already physically and emotionally exhausted as they face the third wave, says the president of the B.C. Nurses Union. Take the numbers with a grain of salt, but the fact that nurses are "overworked" should be considered. The way you're portraying COVID responses in hospitals makes it seem like COVID is no big deal.
  2. I had zero serious side effects as a double-shotted Pfizer patient. Am I lucky? The answer: No. https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/covid-19/info-by-product/pfizer/reactogenicity.html If you're going to cherrypick data while ignoring the vast bulk of data, your research is flawed because it is opinion-driven. And opinions can be wrong.
  3. Unfortunately, since AV has been outed by Lehner, and that AV was one of our longer-lasting coaches, I'm not surprised if the Vancouver Canucks are the one team that has been handing out drugs like Toradol and Ambien. I really wonder if there's a story with Gillis too, though it seems to me that he cares about his own players. The more I think about it, the more I think Vancouver is definitely one of the 'bad' teams. Edit: I realize now that AV did not actually employ shotblocking nearly as much as I thought.
  4. Poor Gavin Bayreuther. Selected by Seattle, signs with Columbus, and now on waivers. What an absolute joke of an expansion pick by Seattle. A complete waste.
  5. Seattle took Bayreuther from CLB on July 21. A week later, Columbus signs him back, thus making the expansion pick completely pointless. Maybe there was a sweetheart deal with CLB not to pick anyone from their roster, but how does this help Seattle? Francis sucked with his picks because he could've picked any one of the players, other than some journeyman defenseman. He could've picked Stenlund for example, who is a youngish center that could have been someone Seattle could use. That's just one example. I also think Francis blundered in picking Lind lol. If you were a GM picking a player from the Canucks, would you really really pick a guy with 0 points in 7 games, granted that it was such a small sample? He's obviously in need of AHL time, so as an expansion team, you should take the best player available. The problem is that you go back to the picks and you'll see that there's a theme with many of the expansion picks being utterly dreadful. Not to mention that Francis appears to have soured relations with other GMs for picks. If you don't capitalize on the expansion draft itself, you may never get a chance to do it again. I get that people are cautious about writing off Seattle because of Vegas, but seriously, you can't use that same logic in this expansion. There are some good picks like McCann (fairly obvious one) and Geekie. Giordano is a good player too, and there are several others that aren't bad. However, the remainder are really meh.
  6. Poolman won't go for 1.5, especially for 4 years when he's had multiple offers. Come on lmfao. Some people on CDC are squabbling over 1 mill. The term was fine. The amount was fine. The player was fine. Poolman is a good skater with a good shot, with previous experience with Boeser who played with Poolman at UND. It's also been stated that Brad Shaw specifically targeted Poolman. If he sucks, then that's on Shaw. So far, he looks like he's a good fit with OEL. You go back to the beginning of the thread and you'll see people complaining about the player, but are unable to string together a paragraph about how he was used, how he looked in different spots, and what his strengths/weaknesses were. It's clear people are simply looking at the dollar amount and have no clue about the player. Lol @Provost
  7. What's the deal with this guy? He plays some uninspired hockey when he has the opportunities to grab a roster. I'm pretty sure he's gonna be among the people to be cut tomorrow. Just hasn't shown enough. I'm pretty surprised about Petan/Di Giuseppe and Lockwood though. Special mention goes to Gadj also. A lot of our players have really stepped up.
  8. My understanding is that he doesn't get paid if he doesn't play.
  9. I'll be checking this one out. Need money to pay for that Ferrari in that screenshot
  10. Very solid guy. Poolman didn't look out of place. He also has a very hard shot from the point, so I think we'll see that going in later in the season (more than just 1 goal). PP QB with OEL/Poolman was fantastic.
  11. Am I the only one who is not overly thrilled with Rathbone? He is a magician in the offensive zone, and he is quite good at closing gaps and initiating physicality. I'm still unsure about his defensive game though. The thing with Rathbone is that he's not terrible defensively, but would it really hurt for him to get some time in the AHL and make sure he is ready? He had a few pizza drops this game, twice in the offensive zone, and one right in front of the net, to name the few. Rathbone did kill some penalties tonight, but Juolevi has been the one that Green has been using primarily.
  12. You're right. He was totally invisible tonight. Not sure why this was brought up 1 hr after the game though
  13. Worst case is they'll play for your team. They tried to outthink everyone, and I loved how smug Francis seemed at the conference.
  14. Is this somehow a 'dig' at a leftist news company? I take it you're not a fan of Trudeau either and you're someone on the 'right' (Conservative/capitalism) There's a lot that can be derived simply from how you frame a sentence like you did above. I don't see why there is a need to say CBC is communist - do you even know what communism is? I don't think you do. Why not "capitalism broadcast company?" It's far more applicable to this situation of tax evasion.
  15. I think we can pretty much say that Ron Francis is a clueless GM. What a disastrous expansion draft.
  16. https://www.cbc.ca/news/pandora-papers-offshore-tax-avoidance-1.6197303 Some current PMs/leaders listed here: the Kenyan and Czech PMs, and King Abdullah II of Jordan. All corrupt people. This is what the Kenyan PM said, according to the article. "Every public servant's assets must be declared publicly so that people can question and ask — what is legitimate?" Kenyatta had told a BBC interviewer in 2018. The leaked records show he and his mother were beneficiaries of a secretive foundation in Panama, while other family members own five offshore companies with assets worth more than $38 million. Kenyatta and his family did not reply to ICIJ partner journalists' requests for comment. (Journalist's note: He himself, however, seems to have been an exception.) Also, Shakira is listed here. I think these leaks are politically motivated though. To me, there's probably a lot of rich Americans that are dodging taxes, but for some reason isn't listed here or in other papers. We all pretty much know how corrupt Trump really is, so there are different kinds of corruption. Seems to me that this story was meant to divert attention to other people, instead of something else. Nonetheless, this leak is still important to get rid of rich people who got rich from their own people (and in some cases, foreign aid)
  17. I believe in Garland. My doubt is with Green.
  18. He needs to stop with this silly nonsense. Many players are quite well-versed to play on their off-wing. Garland, despite his brilliance in Arizona, has looked quite ineffective in Green's system so far. Even Podkolzin looks lost. We keep getting outplayed/outshot. Something is off with his system/philosophy.
  19. If Loui rips it up in such a terrible roster, Green should be put on notice. Furthermore, Garland did well in their franchise, but isn't doing so well (so far) in Green's system. I have no idea why some players don't work well in it. Desjardins/Green didn't work well with Player Name's game.
  20. Loui Player Name doing well for AZ in the preseason. Green sucks?

  21. By far. Juolevi was trusted by Green to PK and he helped keep Flames to 0/5. His game is clearly more complete than Rathbone. Rathbone has more flash.
  22. I dunno if blaming the refs is appropriate here. The Canucks simply were outmatched and outplayed.
  23. We'll never stop hearing about how dynamic Rathbone was last season... He's good, but he's not gonna succeed if Green overplays him. The team is in need of steady defenseman, and Rathbone has some inconsistencies in his game. He should be a nice callup when there's an actual space for him. Juolevi has proven his case, given his extensive PK time.
