  1. You don't get interviewed in a separate room. Interviews take place in the main room, where all the passports are being issued. Interviews consist of taking to both an American and a Canadian official. Takes about 5 minutes total, if that. The basically want to confirm your identity and make sure you aren't using the Nexus for purposes other than travel, ex crime or commercial use. I did not even know joint interviews were possible.
  2. The Russian government is saying "Radiation levels are normal".....Phew... I was worried there for a moment.
  3. No Uber in Vancouver. Supposedly we're getting it sometime before 2020....but I have my doubts.
  4. To comment on some of these suggestions: 1. The Grouse Grind: This is not a leisurely hike. It is a 45 - 80 minute intense workout. I wouldn't suggest it at all unless you are prepare for that. 2. Peaceful Noodle: This place is very hit or miss. For fresh noodles on that street, I'd go to Shaolin Noodle House instead. 3. Brewery/beer tours: The best area will be around Main/Commercial Drive. Many breweries all within biking/walking distance of eachother. Start at a place like Parallel 49 or Brassneck and fan out from there. 4. Do not go to Tacofino. Go to La Taqueria. Definitely get some seafood. However, keep in mind this is not the best time of the year to get Oysters, clams, and muscles.
  5. I would not recommend getting a construction job and then spending $900+k on a house in Surrey right now. That is definitely putting all your eggs in one basket.
  6. The problem is there are very few high paying jobs located in that area. My guess is you got in before the massive spike after 2016. My point is that after that spike, doing what you did is a lot less desirable or possible for most.
  7. You might not be paying their mortgage. You might just be paying a portion of the interest on their mortgage. Mortgages are currently way ahead of rent. So unless properties are going up in price dramatically, it doesn't make sense to buy. You're better off paying less for housing and investing the rest. There are a lot of places where this is the norm. It just doesn't make sense for that to be the case in Vancouver, as the economy doesn't support that.
  8. Even $700-800k is outside the each of the average Canadian family. You're likely talking about old starter homes that require a more of work. With a $700k mortgage, I don't see this awesome lifestyle you're talking about happening. I see a brutal commute only to end to stretched paper this economically.
  9. Bodybuilders actually go a lot of reps, as it encourages size. They are typically in the 15-20 rep range. Strength athletes will focus on the sub 5 rep range.
  10. The point is that places that are 25 minutes from the city are no longer within the means of the vast majority of people. When houses in Surrey and Coquitlam, or even Abbotsford, start at over 1 million, there is a massive problem. People have been leaving to go to places like Victoria and Kelowna but that only drives the prices up there, making them unaffordable too. Where do you go that has both jobs and affordable housing. There is a major economic issue here, and it's not as simple as telling people to live within their means. We're way past that. Fortunately there does seem to be a correction under way, but it has a long way to go.
  11. Some of the moral lessons in the Old Testament are great. No one actually lives by it literally though (or the New Testament for that matter). If you tried, you'd be behaving like a barbarian from 2000 years ago and thrown in jail immediately. Many of the commands in both the old and new testament are illegal in modern society and for good reason. For example, there's a whole lot of punishments that involve burning and/or stoning other people.
  12. They should have done so a long time ago. The developers and construction companies were making lots of money. So was the government, on transfer taxes. Many existing home owners were cashing out big or using homes as bank machines. There wasn't a lot of political will to do anything about it. The long-term consequences are disastrous though. The local economy has been strangled and an entire generation of people is homeless.
  13. Obviously the seller is going to take the best deal. The vast majority of the time, the seller doesn't even know who the buyer is. The agents just do all the paper work, and the seller takes his cheque.
  14. Jews are a distinct ethnicity. Genetic testing proves this. They can be the victims of racism. As for you second point, what was acceptable in 2000 BC is not acceptable now. Overall, the Old Testament is extremely violent, and no one should interpret it literally. However, justifying violence against the modern Jewish population, because the Old Testament is violent is not acceptable.
  15. The lower the prices, the more likely it is that locals can afford them. Locals were totally priced out at the previous levels. The solution is to put barriers to non-residents buying, not try to price them out, as they collectively have way more resources than the average working Joe.
  16. You've just go to practice pushups then. If you get to the point you can do 40 in a row, the Murph should be doable, without more than a few very small breaks during your sets of 5 pushups. The whole point of the Murph is the sustained cardio hit, so it's important to make sure you can do all the movements without any breaks of more than a few seconds each.
  17. The way the pullups are broken up, makes them not all that challenging. For most people the bigger issue is the pushups and the overall cardio hit.
  18. Doing 100 strict pullups in that amount of time, with the added wear from pushups, would be extremely difficult. I consider a strict pullup as having a full lockout and dead rest at the bottom. If you did strict, you'd be so slowed down by the pullups that you wouldn't get anything out of the workout...well other than fatiguing yourself on pull-ups.
  19. The key to the Murph is to break it up into proper sets. People normally go 5 pushups, 5 pullups, 5 pushups, 15 squats. The goal should be to pace yourself so that you are constantly moving. You should only add weight once you can do it non-stop.
  20. Really? Most of the deaths were actually about contract negotiations. It was very predictable who was going to go. Didn't like this movie as much as IW. It didn't have the same mood and atmosphere, and at points the pacing was off. Definitely overall very good though. IW is a tough act to follow.
  21. The Ottoman's were tolerant of other religions, as long as they paid Dhimmi tribute, didn't disagree against their rule in any way, and put up with regular massacres and pillages.
  22. I'm actually pretty excited for End Game, but I do hate the way Disney manipulates the rating systems. They've become masters at building hype. They even got Rotten Tomatoes to change the way they do their ratings system after people started review bombing Captain Marvel. There's a significant amount of those 21 Marvel movies that are crap.
  23. The biggest advantage to working out in a group is that you cannot just quit the workout part way through. Peer pressure keeps you around until the end.
  24. Then why not turn existing energy into food and resources, and then use his powers to limit population growth. There is a lot of energy out there. The movie didn't really do a good job of presenting Thanos as the "mad" titan. He's supposed to be crazy.
  25. A major drawback of living in Vancouver proper is that the gyms have to cater to the average gym goer in order to be sustainable. Space is also at a premium. This means they can't be set up for lifters, which means less room for squat racks. The stairmaster crowd has now migrated over to the squat racks without any understanding of how to actually lift....very frustrating. You see people on the squat rack doing sets of sub 100lbs, which could easily be done with dumb bells, or people doing non-squat lifts in there. I desperately need to move into a place that is big enough to accommodate my own squat rack. Although my current apartment building has one in the basement that is usually empty.
