  1. Agreed - I am hearing people say "OMG, if we can score 5 against the Capitals and beat the Panthers 7-2, we'll probably beat the Kings 15-0!" (paraphrasing slightly). I am worried that people will flip out if we lose to LA. I am thinking that there is a very real possibility we lose that game. I wouldn't be surprised if we outplay and outshoot them, but lose 3-1 because of bad puck luck. LA can't keep letting in more than five goals per game, and we can't keep scoring five goals per game, something is going to give (and it might be soon).
  2. Amazing game. Miller is my favourite player and wayyy more valuable than a first round draft pick. He is so smart and well rounded. This team is deep! I made a post like this after the Detroit game in response to those saying "be cautious, the Canucks have started hot like this before only to miss the playoffs", but I'm posting something similar today just for those who are interested: After 11 games: 2016 (7 home games): 4-6-1 (-11 goal differential) 2017 (5 home games): 6-3-2 (+3 goal differential) 2018 (3 home games): 6-5-0 (-4 goal differential) 2019 (5 home games): 7-3-1 (+15 goal differential)
  3. The 1-0 goal was Luc Robitaille's 63rd goal of the season? Wow - I didn't realize he had that many.
  4. After 9 games: 2016 (7 home games): 4-4-1 (-7 goal differential) 2017 (4 home games): 5-3-1 (0 goal differential) 2018 (3 home games): 5-4-0 (-2 goal differential) 2019 (3 home games): 6-3-0 (+11 goal differential) Feels a bit different this year... like, not a fluke?
  5. Me when the Canucks go down by two goals: 2018: *turns game off and checks score a few hours later* 2019: *grabs popcorn*
  6. Thoughts: 1) that 5 on 3 (and our powerplay generally) was more painful than both of my vasectomies; 2) Pettersson has gone full-blown Henrik Sedin on us and has decided he can only stickhandle the puck into the net rather than shoot; 3) most of the team looked very non-chalant the entire game and yet we managed to pull out a come from behind win against the cup champs; 4) that's two games in a row now that i) Demko makes me nervous, and then ii) TOTALLY REDEEMS HIMSELF; 5) Leivo with the one half Bobby Orr and one half Dennis Wideman wipeout on the shootout winner, I lol'ed on the replay.
  7. I have not felt this way in a long time - complete confidence in the goaltending such that, I don't even worry about it before or during the game anymore - I just assume we are going to get solid goaltending and that we will win or lose based on the execution of the rest of the team. That is a nice feeling to have, and has been extremely rare over my 30 years of Canuck fandom.
  8. Totally, I examined each one of those hugs under a microscope, trying to read body language and decipher what each player really thought of Bo. Anyone else do that? I thought it was Hughes, Pettersson, Boeser and Edler (and surprisingly Benn?) that were the most genuinely happy for him. Good to see that.
  9. I can't believe people on here actually want to trade an asset for this guy. If anything, NYI should have to throw in an asset to give him away for free. This guy would meet the definition of "subtraction by addition". Don't touch him with a 40 foot pole.
  10. I would love to see the written complaint (lawsuit) based on these facts. What on earth would the legal basis be? What is the tort? What are her damages? If what Matthews did qualifies as actionable, god help us.
  11. I briefly posted a very "revealing" photo of the complainant, to confirm that, yes, this is the case. But have deleted it after thinking twice. She did post the picture publicly, so I don't think it was offside, but I can only imagine the firestorm this could have started, given the intense discussions going on in this thread.
  12. I'm married with children, and if my wife was a security guard, I would expect that she would have to deal with this kind of thing on a regular basis. I have a feeling that my wife would be grounded enough to laugh it off after she realized what was going on. She certainly wouldn't consider this kind of behaviour as criminal.
  13. She doesn't get anything out of it. If she sued him in civil court, that's one thing - she could get a decent monetary settlement out of it. Pursuing criminal charges doesn't have any benefit to the victim other than the satisfaction of seeing him punished (which is why I said she is petty).
  14. Fine. Even if I were to accept that she was terrified for a moment, once she realized what was actually happening - that Matthews was just a drunken idiot - she decided to pursue criminal charges? That's the problem I have with this. Criminal charges for this kind of conduct is absurd, and it was petty of her to pursue them.
  15. This thread is depressing. Matthews actions IMO barely rise to the level of newsworthy, let alone meet the threshold for criminal charges. The fact that she stated she wants to press charges makes me certain that this security guard is wacko. I guarantee you the charges aren't approved by the prosecutors once they review the file. Not worth the time. Please leave police/court resources for things that actually matter.
  16. There used to be a Stanley Cup banner in the Save-on-Foods Memorial Arena. It hung at the North end of the ice, but for some reason it wasn't there during training camp. Maybe the Canucks had it removed out of jealousy?
  17. I don't see how anyone can hate this jersey. It is amazing. Hate the team, sure - but that jersey is delicious.
  18. Exactly, the goal is famous because of the picture. Interestingly, the photographer of the picture was worried that it would not be printed/appreciated because, at the time, pictures of goals were only published if it showed the puck inside the net. The fact that the puck was lying outside the crease was thought to be a problem. Luckily, common sense prevailed and the photograph became iconic.
  19. I don't know much at all about this topic, but I generally tend to prefer the opinions of people who can spell "Hughes" correctly. For some reason their arguments just seem more credible.
  20. Yes, because it means we have a good third line. 3.5 isn't too much for a good third line winger.
  21. Apparently Micheal is the Gaelic version of Michael. Or the parents just made a spelling mistake...
  22. http://forum.canucks.com/topic/390765-discussion-myers-as-a-forward/ Let me know if you retract...
  23. Agreed. We don't have quite the high-end talent as some of the best teams, but what we lack in high-end talent, we appear to make up for in depth. I for one am a proponent of depth. E.g. I would take two solid 6 million dollar players over one 12 million dollar player any day.
  24. Anyone else secretly hoping/thinking that Benning signed Ferland because he knows that a deal with Boeser is pretty much done and his cap hit will be lower than we all expected it to be?
