  1. When the Canucks had individual goal songs in 2016, I thought Jannik Hansen and Jared McCann had the best ideas: Jannik Hansen: Jared McCann:
  2. Sign him. Just because I would like to have a player on the team who doesn't wear a visor for a little while longer.
  3. I was looking for a post about how amazing these jerseys look so I could upvote it. Surprised to find that people don't seem to like them? What is wrong with you people, these look fabulous!
  4. This has been my secret (unreasonable) fantasy. I like to believe that Horvat and the Canucks have already agreed in principle to a 7 year, 7.3 million deal, but Horvat is such a great Canuck, and a loyal captain, that he and the Canucks have agreed that Horvat will be traded as a rental at the deadline this year to acquire much needed future assets for the betterment of the team. Then he resigns in the summer. Dare to dream!
  5. Exactly, I don't even need to know if the "locker room rumours" are true or not. I see enough watching him on the ice to know that he's not captain material. He's the only guy who stands out to me during the game as being lazy, moody and careless on the ice on a regular basis. Love his physical skills and talent, but not a born leader by any means.
  6. Don't worry Bo lovers - I can see the future. Bo's camp rejects 7x7, counters with an offer of 8x8 The Canucks reject it, call around the league to test the trade market and realize they aren't going to get great value in a trade. Once the maximum pressure is on both sides, just before the trade deadline, they agree on 7.4 x 8. I'll come back in a couple months and say I told you so.
  7. The Canucks' threshold for jersey retirement is already too low; retiring Luongo's number would lower it even further. Always loved, and still love, Luongo, but the standard needs to be higher.
  8. All the Canucks need to do is go 5-8-0 in their next 13 to still have a better record after 22 games compared to last year. And we all know what they did after 22 games last year. There is still plenty of reason for hope.
  9. There are apparently 98,000 users on this forum. If we each pitch in $6,690. We can afford it. I would actually do this. We can use the Senators as a destination to send the Canucks bad contracts, utilize cap space to acquire players cheaply, draft players for the Canucks, etc. This is how the Canucks finally win the cup. Let's do this.
  10. Correct, If we win all remaining games, and the LA Kings win every game (except the game against us), both teams would have 98 points, but the Canucks would have more regulation wins. If Vegas wins out, they will only reach 97 points. Our playoff destiny is within our control. Scoreboard watching is no longer strictly necessary (but would be nice if some teams lost some to make it easier).
  11. Lol, sorry to burst your bubble, but have you seen the list of previous Basant Motors ambassadors? It is the kiss of death: Alexandre Burrows Alexander Burmistrov Zack MacEwen Adam Gaudette Nate Schmidt Antoine Roussell Every single one of them gone within a season or two of being the ambassador...
  12. I have no problem with criticizing Demko if he is not playing well. I have a problem with you repeatedly pointing at an .880 save percentage and saying that he needs to be .900 or better every single night, because that is not possible.
  13. You just don't understand goaltending, or sample size, or statistics generally. You simply cannot expect a goalie to have a save percentage of .900 or better every single night. That does not happen. The reason it cannot happen is that sometimes Demko has a .960 or even a 1.000 night (shutout). That means, if his "off" nights are better than .900, his AVERAGE save percentage would have to be something ridiculous like .940 or .950 which is not sustainable. You should honestly be glad that a perceived "off" night is only .880. That is a sign of a great goaltender if his bad nights are almost .900. A bad goaltender's off night looks like .700 or .750. You also don't seem to understand that there is such a thing as puck luck which literally cannot be controlled from night to night. You cannot expect such extreme consistency. Or, at the very least, can you just post once per PGT about the sub .900 save percentage and spare us the following 10 redundant posts??
  14. The Canucks putting up a touchdown against a long-time rival, while doing it in their sweet, sweet black flying skate jerseys... I feel like I could use a cigarette. And I don't even smoke...
  15. I feel like the very few people here who are questioning this hire (and very doing so in a very careful way I might add) are getting an unfair amount of pushback on the basis that they are probably sexist. Honestly, I think it is totally fair game to question whether a 38 year old (man or woman) who only became an NHL certified agent 5 years ago is experienced enough for an AGM job with an NHL team. I am 38 years old and am aware enough to realize that most of the best people in my profession are older than I am and have more years experience. By all accounts, she seems to be very bright and may be very good at her job, but I can totally understand how some people might not be convinced of that yet. Also, someone needs to tell her that putting a #22 Canucks jersey with her name on it in the background of an interview is not kosher (kidding, but not really).
  16. I was skeptical about this hire, mostly because of her youth and lack of hockey/NHL experience, but after listening to the 650 interview with her, I have much more confidence. She sounds very mature and intelligent.
  17. I get that the refs might not blow the play dead if Nashville knocks the net off and the Canucks go down the ice and score, but... First of all, Demko is the one who knocked the net off about a minute earlier, Nashville did have possession for a brief time later, and the puck went up and down the ice more than once and nobody put the net back in place. This seemed totally bizarre to me.
  18. Drance is a very interesting radio guest/host. He speaks well and is very knowledgeable. I agree with other posters here that he should be careful with his reputation and refrain from trying to make mountains out of molehills. You can already see the players start to act cautiously around him (Exhibit A: Pettersson asking Drance if "he's looking for a headline" during a press conference last week). If players start thinking that you are going to take their comments out of context to make a big story out of them, you are dead as a journalist and "insider". I like him, but I hope he treads carefully because one's reputation is everything in that business.
  19. This will be an unpopular opinion, but they should continue to do what they are doing now: - Play the games where the two teams playing are not decimated from COVID (there are still many of them out there) - Postpone the games where one or both teams are decimated by COVID. Only thing I would suggest: have a predictable and transparent threshold for what would amount to a postponement. My suggestion is that if you have more than 5 players in protocol, your games are postponed, or 3 players at one position.
  20. I've always wondered whether Miller was a good team player or not, and I think this video certainly helps me understand: He seems like an awesome teammate to me.
  21. For those worried about the reactions during the fist bump lineup with Boudreau: 1) Pettersson was pulled aside by a woman in a suit in the tunnel (you can see her pull aside Tyler Myers earlier in the video and say "you've been selected as one of the three stars"), that's why he didn't bump, and 2) Keep in mind Miller had just finished a very intense 2 minute shift to end the game where he was defending a 6 on 5 and in the last 20 seconds had rushed ahead on offense (before Podz got crushed) and then had to sprint back to cover the odd man rush the hit created. He and Horvat were both exhausted and probably had little energy for celebrations.
  22. Demko made the same joke after the game. Does this mean that you think he was insulting the players also?
  23. I'm serious here: Step 1) Have the coaching staff watch 20 hours of Edmonton Oilers powerplay video. Step 2) Have the Canucks copy the Oilers' approach Step 3) Even if the Canucks are only 50% as good in their execution as the Oilers, they will still be a 23% powerplay (good for 10th in the league). Ok, not totally serious, but I think the coaching staff should actually watch a lot of Oiler PP video.
  24. It seems like you are criticizing Green here, but 1.083 shots per power play minute is a rate that would be 6th best in the league. In fact, Vancouver averages 0.98 shots per powerplay minute through the first 10 games which is 10th best in the league. The average shots per powerplay minute league-wide is just under 0.92. This is a perfect example of why I don't trust most Green-hater's opinions on this forum: they seem to have unrealistically high expectations without understanding what is going on around the rest of the league.
