  1. The return in the trade might say something too:

Miller for a first= wow, we must have been actively shopping him and wanted to get something okay back (must not believe this team can compete)

Miller for a first, prospects and more= we probably weren't trying to trade him, but were blown away (still believe we have a chance this year or next)

Yeah, but I do wonder if that's the right way to build your team.

I somehow feel like the original Vegas squad that was 4 line deep and 3 stable pairings was harder to play against then the current version with weak bottom pairing D and weaker bottom forwards.

Anaheim was carried by 3 strong d-men in their 06-07 cup run. It depends on the philosophy, but some teams can get away with the 3rd pairing being more of a luxury than a necessity.

    I'm thinking

    to CBJ - Myers

to VAN - Domi and Boqvist

CBJ could use a RD (Myers) for their playoff push. VAN could use Boqvist for their future. Domi is a UFA after this season and is tied for 7th in team scoring. Not like they'd be lost without him IMO. Maybe he re-signs in VAN?  Whatever happens, Canucks need to clear cap and add young players.

Boqvist was their main draw from the Seth Jones trade and he is better than Myers.

Question for those who have more hockey knowledge than me. Are there present day examples of teams giving the captaincy to a different player and keeping the "old" captain? Or is it almost always that the captain is traded to avoid conflict or whatever.

Usually the captain leaves or a goalie is involved (Luongo was unofficial captain and then that was taken away).

I don't think any publication is concerned about links to their articles.  In fact, I would guess they would welcome it.  It attracts readers to their site.

It's when someone starts to copy and paste the entire article to a site such as this that they might object.

But, then again, I'm not a copyright lawyer.

Yeah I think ideally what you would do is copy a couple sentences to make a talking point, then add the link for others to gain more context/fact check/pique their interest.
