God no......Can you say Aaron Rome, 7 year, 70 million contract? AV would not make a good GM at all as he is way to stuck in his ways to have the flexibility necessary for the job. Rick Bowness isn't even a good coach why the hell would the Canucks want him actually influencing which players to bring in? Its bad enough he cant properly manage the ones they bring in now.....

Of course, this completely ignores the fact that AV HAS been using Bieksa and Hamhuis as the #1 pairing in all situations - like he always does.....they have just sucked really, really badly at playing defence. Giving them MORE ice time is asking for more losses.

Honestly, I find bumping this thread constantly pretty annoying actually.......I think everyone gets that clutch was wrong by now.

This league may have openings for replacement GM's.........it would be better to be ready to go if a season does start soon though. Contact EmployeeoftheMonth if interested in knowing more.

I agree about not panicking. I think there needs to be demonstrated improvement in the preparedness of the team though. Otherwise it is not panic but necessity. The status quo is the right solution until it becomes obvious things are not improving. AV is on the cusp on that one.

Thanks for the kind words on my profile SID. I can assure you that I also appreciate that you take time to think about what you write and that you find interesting articles and stuff for us to discuss. We do seem to agree on a lot of things though.....great minds think alike, I guess! Anyway, just thought I would say keep up the good work on CDC. You definitely make the place more interesting!

Great discussion on the "shutdown checking line" topic. We may not agree, but it's good to get such a lively (and respectful) discussion going. CDC needs more of that, imo.

I definitely think Bieksa is going to be traded. I also think we will get a decent return for him though considering the premium that is being placed on defensemen right now.

I agree that Hamhuis would cement our D core for a long time. I would love to see him here, more because I remember seeing him his last couple of years in PG when I was living in Vanderhoof. I think (surprisingly) many people are underestimating his potential to be a top guy. I really think he can take the next step and I hope it's in Van.

Montreal is my first choice because they are Canadian. San Jose would be next, just because I think they are a great organization who have had so many let downs over the years that it would be nice to see them win. I dislike both Chicago and Philadelphia and want to see them lose. Of course, I hate Chicago the most, especially right now!
