Throw the book at criminals?  lol.  Nothing like a little humour to wake up to in the morning.

Just read up any headline when there are drug/weapons bust.... usually it's people with like a long rap sheet.  If the courts actually do what it should do.... how can that drug dealer or gangbanger get reach up to multiple weapons offenses?  Heck, as a LAGO, I would have been throw in prison away for a long long time.

Umm....  I still watch pirated movies and play cracked PC games.... been doing so for the last 20+ years.

Regardless, the main purpose for the "weapons ban" was to stop random mass shooting.  When any shooting occurs... it's the final results of a cascade of mistakes, falling through the cracks, poor funding, lack of mental health, etc.  Mass shooting is the consequence, not the cause within itself.

Then I guess you should support or run of office on a criminal justice reform position.  Nope.  Criminals gonna criminal so I should be allowed to own ma gunzzzz.

You want to make 3D printers illegal ?  Or just specific designs ?

Aren't there already hefty penalties for possessing an illegal firearm  ? I guess the caveat is are these plastic guns considered illegal firearms yet.

The last thing we should be doing in all this is defunding the police that's for sure. I checked the BLM Vancouver page the other day and they are going on about defunding the VPD... as if they don't have enough problems already.... crazy times

The printed guns.  Regulations regarding what can and cannot be printed, who can possess the files, fines, jail time.

The last bit regarding defunding.   Reasonable people means no more tanks.  Some of the funds goes to other areas and the police are no longer the first responders to certain calls.  It doesn't mean eliminating without some kind of replacement.  At least that is what many Reasonable people mean when saying defund.  But those Reasonable people get lumped in with the crazy.   Like a lot of people sharing ideas on both the left and the right.

Thats the problem right now down in the USA.  Many of these illegal weapons right now are actually being 3D printed and making fully capable glocks/automatic weapons from bloody plastic moulds.  Pretty crazy right now, so the idea that you'll magically stop the weapons is laughable.  These guys are just going to spend a grand or whatever on a good 3D printer, find the file needed online and start producing them, then its even more problems will occur unfortunately.

So why bother in your world.

    Or

Anyone caught with this gets the book thrown at them.  You know, criminal justice.

Nope, gun control is useless cause criminals gonna criminal.

  4. Well, he did wrestle as a character that easily fit as a heal.  Definitely not a baby face thing there Glenn.  At least he was the only dissenting vote.

Former professional mask wearer, current mayor votes against mask ordinance in his county

The board of health in Knox County, Tennessee — home of Knoxville and the University of Tennessee flagship — voted Wednesday to mandate masks for anyone inside certain buildings.

The vote was one shy of being unanimous, but that dissenter, Mayor Glenn Jacobs, raised plenty of eyebrows.

That is because Jacobs, as you might remember, was once one of the most prominent mask-wearers in the United States during his previous career, as the famed WWE professional wrestler Kane. This is how he once looked at his night job:

Jacobs was elected mayor of Knox County in 2018 via a close Republican primary and a landslide win in the general election over Democrat Linda Haney. While he ran as a Republican, Jacobs identified his political beliefs as libertarian when talking to Yahoo Sports about his burgeoning political career.

In practice, the sight of Jacobs wearing a mask have been rare on his social media accounts, though he did make an exception for a visit to the East Tennessee Children’s Hospital.

but........trickle down economics.  Corporations like to voluntarily share don't they?

And you know who would spend money in their communities if they had an extra percentage of their income in their pockets?  Average Jane and Joe.  But they are rarely the ultimate focus of any benefits of Conservative tax cuts.

  6. Figured this would fit better here than in the TRUMP thread.

Biden commits to 3 debates with Trump

In a letter to the Commission on Presidential Debates Monday, Joe Biden's campaign manager said that Biden will agree to the commission's proposal of three presidential debates and one vice presidential debate with independent moderators, adding, "Donald Trump and Mike Pence should do the same."

The big picture: Trump's campaign has been calling for four debates and for them to be held sooner because of early voting. Trump has also accused the bipartisan nonprofit organization of being "very biased."

    • The Biden campaign has laid out a specific position on how they plan to follow through with the debates.
    • Biden says he will participate in the commission's debates on Sept. 29, Oct. 15 and Oct. 22. Biden's running mate will participate in the vice presidential candidates’ debate set for Oct. 7.

    What they're saying:

"Now that Donald Trump is trailing so badly in the polls, and is desperate to change the subject from his failed leadership of the country, we are seeing reports that he has his own proposal for debates — after having said, just six months ago, that he might not want to participate at all in planned dates.
No one should be fooled: the Trump campaign’s new position is a debate distraction. The Trump position seems to be saying that he will debate if he can pick the moderators: clearly the President, who largely conducts interviews only with favorable news outlets, is afraid of facing questions from a neutral moderator. The Trump campaign proposal for elaborate negotiations is merely an effort to dodge fair, even-handed debates."
    — Biden campaign manager Jen O'Malley Dillon

Between the lines: In a general election season that's shaping up to have far fewer traditional rallies and less traditional candidate engagement than normal, the debates may take on heightened importance and will give Americans a chance to see the incumbent and the former vice president in sharp contrast to one another.

    • There also may be less of a surprise factor for Biden than for Hillary Clinton; Trump in 2016 showed his penchant for using the theater of the debate stage and pre-debate events in unconventional and sometimes controversial ways.

    Read the letter.
