Win all remaining games from this point on and they are guaranteed in. As long as that holds true there is a chance and the closer they get to the end with this holding true the more probable it becomes

Destiny is still in the Canucks hands Edmonton 2 games in hand max 36 points if they win both, we beat them in the remaining 6 games against them it gives us 38 points Cgy 3 games in hand max 31 points if they win all of them. we beat them in the remaining 4 games vs them gives us 34 points Mtl 5 games in hand, they go at their current.600 pace that puts them at 35 points, we take the last 3 against them it puts us within reach at 32 points 13 must win games, take another 5-6 out of the remaining 14 against TO, Ott and WPG would probably be enough to do it

the latter the last time I checked but Pluto’s no longer a planet so who knows -
Actually the point was if we win the right games we could get away with going 20-10 which is not insurmountable, though as you say not probable. Like I say we win these up coming 4 games against Mtl and it may come down to the last game of the season against Cgy For the record, I would prefer selling what we can and getting another top 10 pick rather than pushing for the improbable and finishing 17th overall. At the same time I don’t want a full tank as we’ve all seen how that’s played out in Edmonton for years

You think 800 lbs grizzlies would’ve been enough, would rather face 100 rabid koalas than a grizzly -
There is still a path to the playoffs through Ott (6), Cgy (4) and Mtl (4) (games left to play) that’s 14 must win 4 point games. Cgy and Mtl are both in tailspins right now. We would probably need to be around 500 with the 17 other games against Edm, Wpg and Tor with those 14 wins But every loss against Mtl and Cgy the rest of the way would need to be made up against those 3 teams at a rate of 2 to 1 Weird year with every game being 4 points with some wins and losses worth more than others. Our season series with Mtl is done by the 20th of March and we’ll have played Ottawa twice more by then as well. The team has been playing well enough the last ten games to be 6-2-2 over that time rather than the 3-5-2 that we were. I will wait to the 20th to put the final nail in this year

Spent all my energy on this place back in 2010-11 trying to convince 99.9% (no joke, there were at most four of us against the masses) of the CDC that Bieksa was worth more than a bag of pucks. He and Hammer went on to be one of the best 2 way pairings we ever had, 2011-12 he was second to Karlsson in EV points among D. CDCers are like Lemmings, once enough are going in a direction there’s just no point fighting it

Hypothetically Linden’s plan has a later window than JB’s and proposes Horvat and/or Boeser trades for picks and/or high quality young blue liners. Very different out look for the team. currently all our core guys are bunched together in age which will make it difficult to manage cap wise. Anyway all speculation and moot bs at this point but, in my opinion, JB has set us on a pretenders course, too many holes to be filled via FA and middling finishes aren’t going to give us the players needed through the draft The fact the JB let Marky and Tanev go validates the long plan but the hypothetical Linden plan would’ve traded them for something rather than losing them for nothing

Linden was brought in to put shine on the turd that MG set up for the Sedins’ declining years. Rebuild from that? Lol. MG left scorched earth, can’t tear down wasteland with a few worn edifices nearly eroded to nothing anchored in by NTC/NMC. Honestly we actually have something to tear down now, everyone older than Petey worth anything gone, now that’s a tear down rebuild that some how Linden was supposed to deliver. Linden was not president he was Governor General, kiss the babys and the cut the ribbons type bs to distract the fans from the nuclear winter on the ice. Shows an opinion and the el Presidente Aquaman shows him the door

[Discussion] How Our Past Offseason Will Hurt Our Future
bbllpp replied to Noble 6's topic in Canucks Talk
I would’ve kept Tanev as this team has been fighting an uphill battle on D for years but honestly Schmidt’s (everyone does that for a 3rd) cap hit made it impossible without shedding dead weight cap, not likely... I would have also liked to keep TT but that would have only been realistic if we could have moved Pearson level money on top of the above In the end JB has done the right thing for the team when they are most likely to be in their window (which wasn’t now even if we resigned everyone). A declining Marky at 6M would be an anchor 3-4 years from now. Flat cap turned this into a tread water year at best and a step back most likely which is not all that bad given that after Podz there’s not much left in the pipeline Bringing in Hamonic mitigated the loss of Tanev somewhat but the injury was unfortunate -
On a positive note: Olli Juolevi is getting better every game

Lots of good points on here: Provost with having to really on Edler for heavy minutes is not going to amount to long term success IBatch with over playing Hughes when trailing directly contributing to blow loses earlier in the year Giving OJ more minutes may actually be the solution to both but Green seems hesitant to do so. How Edler came into the league is what OJ is reminding me most of. Found money, Edler came in as an injury replacement in 06-07 (D+3) and didn’t look out of place at all, then beat Bourdon out (our top ranked D prospect at the time - RIP) for a permanent job in 07-08 (D+4) and was a 35+ point D the following year OJ lost a year plus to injuries in his progression but at D+5 looks like he’ll stick and as many have noted plays a simple all round game with subtle greatness in his play. Barring further injury set back the kid looks like the real deal and is a much needed heir apparent to Edler’s eventual decline. think back to the Hutton’s, Sbisa’s, Gudbranson’s, Pouliot’s and to a lesser extent Stecher of recent years the kid looks miles ahead of these guys. All of whom chased the game here as young players. Tanev was the last young guy I can think of here that didn’t chase the game (Ignoring Hughes cause I can’t say we’ve ever had anyone like him before) I’ve said it in other places, the kid was drafted for position need and his NHL floor. The Canucks D core has been 2 steps forward 3 steps back since Salo left with absolutely nothing real in the pipeline until he was drafted, better late than never is all I can say -

I am predicting no fans show up to the game tomorrow if Benn slots in with Myers instead of OJ
