[Speculation] Canucks exploring Tyler Myers trade
billabong replied to brian42's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Attaching rathbone and 4th or 5th round pick is a pretty small price to pay to move Myers Myers trade + OEL buyout would give the Canucks 13m in cap space to revamped that blueline in a significant way -
Also very fair point
-
That’s a fair comparison in terms of picking for organizational need over BPA wallinder is a good pick but was he the BPA? By most pro scouts, he wasn’t.
-
Benson was the BPA this is an organizational need pick but hopefully benson doesn’t make us regret it

Meh He would have been more expensive for anyone else cause Vegas is a no state tax state…so bullet dodged -
[Rumour] Canucks interested in Carson Soucy

Guys don’t be surprised if he gets 4m at 5 or 6 years from someone he’s one of the most sought after free agents on D so the bidding war is gonna be crazy -
Benson is the guy who might fall he’s the guy I HOPE is gone by 11 because I don’t wish that kind of decision on the Canucks, that’s not an easy one. Our last 3 1st round picks would be wingers (lekkermaki and podz) if I’m not mistaken Obviously, we need a C or RHD but if benson is at 11 I think you’d have to take him unfortunately…

[Rumour] Canucks getting calls on Conor Garland

Probably some totally off topic discussions about covid, politics and/or other random topics that have nothing to do with hockey -
[Signing] Devils re-sign Erik Haula

That’s one 3rd line center off the board Friedman mentioned Oreilly for the Canucks but I just can’t see it blueger or accari make more sense on a 3 yr deal around 1.5-2m deal -

Thanks for the stats! Where did you dig up those numbers? Soucy is probably a guy who can anchor a 3rd pair quite effectively but can play top 4 minutes in a pinch I bet he’ll come in at 4m per over 5 years considering the bidding war will bump up his number a fair bit also wouldn’t be shocked if he gets 6 years -
Just happy to hear pearson is getting better Say what you want about the player, but as a person to have your hand absolutely butchered multiple times is just cruel.

[Rumour] Canucks interested in Carson Soucy

Well the NHL is a copy-cat league so if it worked so well for them it must work for us. 10 years ago, LA won some cups then everyone wanted gritty and mean hockey players. It’s not to say other make ups of D couldn’t work, it just the tall and mobile formula has worked 4 years in a row so it’s a good recipe to follow -

People are fixated on size because the last 3 Stanley cup champions have all he had big blue lines. Not necessarily overly physical, but tall and mobile. It simply makes the offensive zone smaller for the other team and makes it a lot more difficult to skate up and down the ice. -

When Myers wants to play rough, he can mess anyone up. A chunk of the minor penalties he takes is attributed to him bigger and stronger than everyone else -

4m/5yr deal is reasonable Severson kinda raised the bar on all the following dman UFA contracts -

Very good point. hopefully this move may give them some leverage going forward I like garland on the 3rd line cause he drives play on his own, but like you said those 2 are the most likely to go around the draft
