  1. McDonough and raty as the top 2 centers in Abby next year is a decent start for depth in the organization keep in mind he was a 7th round pick. it’s a win he’s even gonna play a game in the NHL, he’s already in the top 5% of all 7th round pick of all time
  2. McDonough will play a couple games for the Canucks and burn the 1st year off that deal so it’s essentially a 1 full year contract
  3. Selecting top 5 is more important for the long term success
  4. I mean he skated last week with the extras…a guy who is done-done wouldn’t be skating
  5. I like bear but don’t love him If bear wants to squeeze us for more money after essentially saving his career….take a hike bud now what complicates it is poolman holding 2.5m on the cap hostage as a RHD 3rd pair guy
  6. His play in the last month or so has elevated him to true No.1 D status
  7. Trading those picks won’t look so bad if they bring a couple college free agents to add to the prospect pipeline the Canucks made the trade NOW because the value of that pick is a mystery right now which is attractive but it’s likely to be 18-22 in this years draft and if that pick is confirmed at 19 let’s say that value won’t net you Hronek and you’ll have other teams bidding to increase the price
  8. Absolutely no to either…I’m NOT looking at OEL on our cap till I'm 38 Id rather make a hockey trade money in/money out
  9. I might be made a fool but this “retool” feels a little different…? like when benning “retooled” in 2014 he had a very different team to retool in terms of age, prospect pool, etc…and that was just super dumb and 7 years later we have very little to show for it retooling around what we have “could” work IF they continue add prospects/picks where they can, no 30 year old big UFA signings and no dead money on the cap
  10. 7 min mark Friedman talks Miller/pitt trade was insanely difficult and they might revisit it in the summer
  11. That’s the most important quote of the day no more dead money Put every penny on the ice!
  12. Them shedding that salary allowed them to add it wasn’t like the just added on top of what they already had without subtracting there is an entire off season to be had still and Myers will certainly be dealt so that alone will free up some cash
  13. Canucks shedding a contract just in time to add some college free agents
  14. And the Canucks have 6 months to continue to alter the team they weren’t gonna fix all their problems today
  15. Lazar and stillman ultimately Dickinson and lazar and brought in a decent prospect
  16. Why do you fans whine and complain all the time? I grade the Canucks TD as a B shed cap space for next year - check bring in some picks - check improve the blueline for next year - check traded all valued UFA’s - check grease a team as a broker for a young player - check the better time to deal boeser, garland or Miller is at the draft
  17. If the Canucks did actually turned down a Miller trade….keep in mind try selling that, if they actually traded Miller, to pettersson and hughes… if you trade Miller, you might as well deal pettersson and hughes cause they have both said they have NO interest in more losing think of the bigger picture people…it isn’t as simple as no we don’t “want” to trade Miller
  18. I’d pay that price to unload Myers probably even more I think Voracek is owed more cash money than Myers so maybe that 5m signing isn’t that immovable as we thought
