He's chief amateur scout and been with the organization for a long time. Can't really answer if he is safe, I have absolutely no idea. I would hope so based on the things I've read about him during his time here. Clearly viewed as a credible scout within the organization. Were reports of Gradin and Delorme being the loudest voices in picking Pettersson. Canucks actually have a very good overview of their organization here: https://www.nhl.com/canucks/team/coaches-and-staff https://www.nhl.com/canucks/team/front-office

Not missing much either. Trying to think of what "sträv - (swedish)" would be in english - it's kinda dry and rough in terms of mouth feel? Not a fan. Anyways, throwing another thing out in this thread. Chris Gear - 12 years with the organization? Jonathan Wall - 20 years with the organization? Maybe it was the other way around - I mean we barely even hear about these guys. Sometimes you've just been in a place for too long and it's time for a set of fresh eyes. Healthy view by an organization looking to turn a corner.

He didn't elevate him a few days ago did he though? Made AGM in 2020? Gear kept doing what he was doing before Benning was fired until he got the boot. So its not peculiar. If anything it would have been more peculiar if he was the first to go. Wasn't top priority to dismiss him but as Farhan Lalji has reported, it was already in the works prior to hiring JR. You know, it's not speculating, it's preventing wrongful information being spread to others. I follow the trail that makes most sense and based on what credited sources are saying before we actually know from the sources themselves - i.e Francesco Aquilini, Micheal Doyle and now very recently Jim Rutherford. Looking forward to the JR presser and am sure Imac will ask him about the decision. Cheers!

No way? As in 0% chance? I mean that has got go down as one of the weirdest moves by any manager not only in sports but just in general - but absolutely I mean you put it nicely yourself, it truly is puzzling, almost extremely unlikely, that it was under JRs jurisdiction knowing he's not even met them or even spoken to them. I mean I am sure he called them up and the first thing he said was that they were fired. That seems absolutely reasonable. Sorry if I am being sarcastic but come on my guy. You're even pointing out the things that makes it obvious it was FA.

[Report] Canucks name Jim Rutherford as president & interim GM
DeltaSwede replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Canucks Talk
If you imagine yourself being completely new to managing an NHL team, like the Sedins, having someone down the hall that knows every trick in the book, has seen and heard everything, has gone through all the ups and downs, it can only be a positive. Sprinkle that with some autonomy and it's a solid hire for POHO. Saying that.. no trades before the new GM has been hired please. -

I think if anything, this is a tell tale sign that the organization feels that they have the right core in place. Rutherford isn't really known for re-builds but rather building stanley cup champions so I think a re-build is highly unlikely. -

Who is JM? -
Salmon is key to cup. Eat salmon.

Admittedly, it's tough for any fan to gage candidates for a GM position. Much easier to do it with a coach. Saying that, Chris McFarland sounds like a very intriguing option that is not included in the poll. Current assistant GM of the Avalanche. I honestly think Kevin Weekes is quite interesting as well. A lot of teams have interviewed him so there must be a reason. He's a really intelligent guy. My vote is on McFarland.

At what point do the players give up on the franchise?
DeltaSwede replied to danjr's topic in Canucks Talk
If you aren't getting results, players aren't buying in, players look lethargic and disinterested, we have a coaching issue. Simple as that. It is time for a coaching change yesterday. I believe in the players and I don't buy into this locker room cancer bs. I think they are all just at their absolute lowest right now. Benning there is no question. Time is up as well. I really want to see these players performance under new coaching and with a new management before we start trading away our captain for example. -
[Signing] Senators re-sign Brady Tkachuk

Think the cap will be bloated for the entirety of the term. I just don't see him being a 8+ million dollar player. -
[Report] Sharks claim Jonah Gadjovich off waivers
DeltaSwede replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I believe the case is that if a player from team a is lost to waivers due to team b putting in a claim, team a will have first dibs if team b later decides to put the same player back on waivers. At that point the player can be assigned to team a farm team without having to go through the waiver process for a third time. Perhaps there is a time limitation and I believe it is within the same season. I tried to find a source for this but I am hoping I am not just making this up from thin air. -

Pretty sure he ends up on waivers again, Canucks will just re-claim and can then assign him directly to Abottsford. A nice little vacation in California
