  4. Could be my inner sheep here but I have liked Allvin so far. JR did explain in detail his observation of and the issues plaguing the team from his first press conferences. He even made it clear from the beginning the type of coaching and systems the team needed in order to build a successful team, and it wasn't having Boudreau or the team relying on Demko. He coming into the organization near the halfway mark of the season indicated the defense needed work as well but would give everyone a chance to be re-evaluated. The fans always know the best, right and proper way to go about the business of running an NHL club and without fail will always know better than NHL members when it comes to player valuations. Executives just work in real time not on emotion. I give Rutherford/Allvin a mixed review on their follow through to date, for those that cared to listen from the beginning they have been steadfast in their message and upfront ( to a fault ), there have been no surprises I don't think as of yet.
  5. I think JR's connections and clout within the league is a great thing for Allvin as he navigates his way through being a General Manager in this league. I think Allvin learning from JR but being a patient, calculated GM is huge.
  6. Kind of a shame the team has to potentially move off a 26 year old who has NHL game but needs a new start because Jeff Carter is tied up in a NMC for this and next season. Carter sounds like he is done, perhaps he retires in the not too distant future.
  7. IR ACTIVATION: The New Jersey Devils have activated forward Brandon Saad from Injured Reserve and place him onto the active roster.
  8. ASSIGNED: The New Jersey Devils have assigned forward Riley Damiani to Atlantic City.
  9. No he will play more in the AHL. He is not being developed as the back up here.
  10. The team is extremely high on him, Clark more so. They see him as their next starter without a doubt. Just need to be patient.
  11. May very well be true, but nobody knows how that could play out. Its not a bad move to trade a depth defenseman for a pick and build up draft capital. Doesn't have to be a downer.
  12. But it could very well make a difference, Edler, Marchand, Letang, Killorn, Quick, Parayko, Trochek..........all selected in the third round. Cole Cassels also selected in the third round too haha. Point is, whether you like what the team is doing or not or have confidence or no confidence in management there is always a possibility a third rounder can turn into an NHLer.
  13. Its great if he really wants to be here in Vancouver. The likelihood that he signs in the summer is probably very good and him leaving the city for a Playoff run is not the worst case scenario for him or his family. He is a professional hockey player playing where he wants to, his contract is expiring and the team can secure future assets for him, the team makes this move and the player moves on. He may sign back in the off season, in which case he could very well be offered more security or term in a deal. Zero issue with him coming back for more than a season and zero issue with him being dealt to add an asset. No burned bridges.
  14. Its the same old same old, nearly anyone you listen to on 650 says " could be teams in on said player, could be something by the deadline "...a week until the deadline " this would be something you would see happen in the offseason, not a deadline kind of trade ", fast forward to a week until the draft " hearing there is potential for something to go down near the draft, might be a draft day move "....after the draft, closing in on free agency " may be a trade after the top tier of players move in free agency, could be something within a few weeks time "...approaching training camp " could make a deal before the season but look for teams to come calling around the trade deadline " and on and on and on lol....
  15. I can accept a third may be his value in a trade, I don't agree with it seeing other deals and players in similar scenarios and think he is a 2nd + in value. Not being an NHL person and simply a fan I guess I may not know what the hell I am talking about. I think he is dealt for a 2nd minimum, prepared for the reality check that a 3rd is the return though.
  16. Having Dave Lowry coaching in Winnipeg did wonders for Adam Lowry being able to establish a role and later sign a long term extension. I couldn't imagine it would be the worst thing to have Foote's dad as an assistant here.
  17. it sounds like he is struggling more so off the ice with his transition to Abby since the trade. Couldn't hurt to have him around the team and getting some interaction with the coaches in Vancouver.
  18. Exactly, they are not using him and other young players have taken on ice time he would have or should have had to this point. Some here think Foote is not going to amount to anything and not worth the opportunity. I think a right handed good skating big shutdown type dman maybe not a physical beast but sounds like the type of defenseman we need. I would think a one for one is fair.
  19. I would love this. I mentioned it earlier still think it would be a good deal.
