  1. His adult children were trying to continue to receive monthly allowances, part of that stipulation was their schooling to which the adult children were trying to get into different schools than discussed and agreed upon between the parents and children. Context is everything. Know idea what his personal circumstances are or how they got to what is reported or rumored in the public eye. I have my own personal stuff to worry about and his personal life is not my business. Couldn't be any happier seeing him putting up all the money needed to run the Canucks though, there have been years where the future of the club in this city was in jeopardy. I am not taking the stability and already the most success by this franchise for granted while being owned by Aquilini. Highest winning percentage of any Canucks owner in the .560's, most banners and trophies under his ownership.
  2. Would have thought the Hurricanes would push for more for their Playoff run.
  3. Unless you are not paying attention then all you have to do is listen to Rutherford and Co. from the onset of when they were hired a year ago. Its not some big surprise or confusing state we are in. Its a joke the amount of crap by some posters here and the media acting like this is all so confusing or no direction in sight lol. its comical and disappointing to listen to.
  4. The Devils are listening on the following players: Alex Ovechkin Brandon Saad Alexander Wennberg Torey Krug Erik Gustafsson John Carlson Philipp Grubauer While we will continue talks we will wait until after the NHL's trade deadline before moving on further deals. Carlson, Krug, and Ovechkin have all seen inquiries involving 1st round picks +. Just as happy to keep these productive vetersns but always willing to discuss. Ideally a couple more Playoff upgrades will come to the roster at the least.
  5. aging ? 25 year old No rush, the team has started to reshape the roster and was able to secure a good core piece moving forward.
  6. Only in Vancouver where people scream for the addition of a top four right handed defenseman would you get complete chaos, anger and bewilderment that the team acquires a very good top four right handed dman as you noted the Wings top dmanand now its so awful lol. I honestly don't know how people take Vancouver seriously.
  7. Exactly. Good prospect in first two rounds as is normal but its not some out of this world unbelievable deep draft. Same narrative gets spewed every year lol
  8. I would argue that teams would take on Boeser. The team has simply yet to find a trade that works for them. I call BS that Boeser's term is issue at all. Canucks could retain on Boeser so not as much an issue as is suggested in media.
  9. Canucks aren't buyers, they are making roster changes and made a major trade to move a pending UFA and then utilized some of those assets to help secure a top right hand defenseman. Not buying just reshaping the team. This really should come as no surprise. Maybe its ignorance or denial but the team has stated countless times since Rutherford came on board what the team wants to see happen, its vision and plan to make it the team they want. Again this is not some big surprise or let down, the team is now under way in performing those major changes they stated would need to happen here. If you are not understanding or not agreeing with the plan in place that is fine, its not the team failing the fan base every time fans or media say they have no idea what the plan is or if they question specific moves. The message is clear and been explained already. The kicker is how many people are mad the Canucks just added a young top tier right handed defenseman. Instead of looking into the player they now have they want to rip the move, the loss of a first, the suggestion Hronek is not a capable NHL dman and so on, and that is just crap, not unexpected to be honest as this fan base really kind of sucks to listen to, I thought the media were bad.
  10. I am confused, haven't we been beating the drum all year about needing a RH Defense, a good defenseman ? I mean media, fans, and the management group alike were all on that same page I believe until late yesterday afternoon where many media and fans did a complete 180 on this ? now we don't need a defenseman ? or we do but we'd rather draft one to be eventually NHL ready or contribute hopefully down the road or we do want a defenseman just not Hronek. Or we want Hronek but why did we have to move a 1st round pick for him ? The team replaced a top six forward who had zero intention on coming back to Vancouver with Beauvillier, Raty, Hronek a 4th and we had to add in a 2nd....how does this make Vancouver worse ?
  11. like all of us he is entitled to his opinion, he happens to have a media platform and spot on radio to voice his opinion, thats the difference. Passionate ? sure but he like so many others fail to listen to the people on the team making these decisions, then act surprised or bewildered when moves come down. That is laughable.
  12. Its just optics, fans can like or dislike the plan the team has in place, they can have confidence in the people in management or not but end of the day the Canucks just added the exact type of player at position the team needed and fans were screaming for. It cost a first round pick +. It was worth it. You don't have to like it or can talk down the NHL people actually following through here now but it is what they intend to continue doing.
  13. Detroit just traded one of their best forwards and best defensemen. That will set them back a little. The Canucks are not rebuilding, they have explained this to anyone who would listen. They have accumulated picks as well and just addressed a major team need by acquiring a RHD that will be a core piece here. Because this is not a sexy " rebuild " people just assume its a lost cause, its not working and best of all fans who wanted to build off picks alone or rebuild think the Canucks as in current NHL management group is wrong or not understanding what they are doing. Its comical. They already have the core pieces obtained in their " rebuild " attempt with Petey Hughes Demko....now they are molding, adding, changing as they said they would. You don't have to like the moves. This new management group is really just continuing their stated goals and message from day one just over a year ago now. This trade involved a first, so be it. The team just made a major move and a major add to the team's blueline. A player who will be exciting and fit into the style of play here. Yet people scold the team, fans no better, it gets ripped lol.
  14. Whose worried? The point is some here are suggesting go Buffalo and turn to garbage bottom of the league for a decade. The other side is saying that is ludicrous when you already have Petey and Hughes, no brainer you build around them.
  15. And Hronek is suddenly going to turn into dog crap? PTSD is a real thing and fans can absolutely be cautious or uneasy about the move but this is an instance where a 1st was not thrown away. It was a secondary 1st in the teams arsenal that secured a big core piece at their biggest weakness right dman.
  16. Rebuild was already started getting Hughes, Petey, to lesser extent Demko. You build the roster around them. Yes you can have Miller, Kuzmenko, even Schenn return. Maybe Livingstone comes aboard and Hronek would be another core piece. The team will likely gain a top core piece this draft too. Knowing if they got the Idles 1st this year be in the 12+ range they decided instead of a potential good dman on draft day they utilized the pick to get a top known commodity in Hronek.
  17. I personally would have preferred the picks BUT the team has said they were going to utilize assets ( that means pucks too ) to bring in young NHL players. Hronek is a without a doubt top four right dman. The team needs some more sandpaper on the backend, Hronek will be awesome but doesn't yet address what is still needed and thats ok. I will assume the Vancouver 1st stays here and nets a potential franchise core piece. Islanders are trending upwards anyways. Not a fan of losing the second but there may be a 2nd coming back in another deal. Would be hard to know if a draft pock could turn out as well as Hronek is developing into already and how many years down the road. Trade is a win.
  18. Thats the everchanging media goal posts on pushing " the easist or best " time to trade a player. By summer it will suddenly be " easier " to trade him by training camp and so on. Thing is he won't free up cap but will move in return for defense coming back. Thats the area the team needs to add by utilizing your strengths at fwd.
  19. Shifting fwd assets into defense. I wouldnt be surprised if thats how it plays out. Versus a small retention with a good return but 5m freed up. Either way be interesting to see what happens
