[Rumour] Canucks Getting Calls on Luke Schenn
Mike Vanderhoek replied to Warhippy's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Thats interesting, it can be argued his value is a 2nd +. Not sure why that valuation is seen as ridiculous? -

[Rumour] Canucks Getting Calls on Luke Schenn

Again Brett Kulak in the exact same scenario but less physical, less reliable and producing less was traded last season for a 2nd, 7th, defense prospect. Schenn is worth a 2nd at the least. -
Definitely a more pessimitic view on the organization but then again the Canucks don't lend themselves any favors in that department. I have a real problem with every aspect of the team getting carved by media at some point or another this season and zero accountability by said media when things are blown up, spread and piled on. There is a professional etiquette not being followed when you have guys like Friedman for example whom blew up this Boudreau thing then sat there on national tv and said how bad he felt for the guy and how wrong the organization was ( you did that, then sat back and watched the $hitstorm you created and yes media should be held accountable ). Drance, he has to be careful as at times he becomes white noise, you can hear his passion sure, but at some point you lose some credibility when you keep questioning every damn thing the team does and all the while moving the goal posts on what is poor management decision making one day versus the next. I will admit he is in tune and connected but he does an awful lot of complaining and questioning what NHL people are doing. Bring it down a notch your a media member not an executive in the NHL.

The Canucks were thrilled to be in a position to sign him. They feel he is an NHL player and by watching his first season, there is no reason to believe he can't be a reliable 4th line centre as he develops his game further. Aman is not a problem with this club. -

The coaching change was half a season too late, but it was the coach they wanted. The actual change is not a head scratcher at all the fact they gave Bruce an opportunity to build off last season knowing he was not coaching the style they wanted is the head scratcher. -

[Rumour] Canucks Getting Calls on Luke Schenn

I can own it if im wrong but his value is a 2nd + without a doubt. Taking Reilly from the Bruins well they would consider him a cap dump but in Vancouver he would be an improvement on the Tucker Poolman's of the world. Giving them Schenn and taking Reilly's contact away + Boston's first likely being around 30th its not a reach. Connor Mackey has maybe not had the opportunity to establish himself yet, could be resigned cheap too on top of a 2nd not a bad option. I'd probably lean towards the Boston scenario though. -

Would you rather: Schenn to Calgary for * LD 26yrs old Connor Mackey 912k caphit expiring * 2024 Flames 2nd rd pick or to Boston for * LD 29yrs old Mike Reilly 1.875m caphit expires after next season * 2023 Bruins 1st rd pick ??? -

What far too many people are not getting is this is not being managed badly. Apparently a trade is on the cusp of being agreed to by all signs. This is the white noise players and coaches have to deal with as professionals and its part if the business. Just like Bruce was on the verge if getting replaced, this is media driven and spread. This is NOT a fault or mismanagement on behalf of the teams involved. This is how it works. Not fun for those involved or speculated on but its the business. If people want to point fingers as almost always people need to find blame well its the media, insiders, sources creating this. Hold them accountable.
