    If you were judging purely on words, you would also have to consider when these players say they love/support everyone. Yet the assumption is still that these players are hateful. So clearly there is always some overanalyzing happening

    Sure, that's reasonable to an extent, but it's also a narrower approach than considering all potential possibilities.

    He was the first, it's possible he thought it was better to say that than bring up Russian laws (in fear of it creating more problems for any family he has in Russia).

    People were calling for his deportation before he even gave a statement at all. There are some people who will be mad regardless of what a player says or doesn't say.

    As it was mentioned back then, it was very possible Provorov stated religion when it wasn't the real reason. Fwiw I have no problem with Kuzmenko's decision. Family comes first. I just hope things don't get ugly.

    There were people who wanted Provorov deported back to Russia over this. Hopefully now that a Canuck is doing it, they realize how ridiculous those comments were. And I'll cheer for a hat trick since I have him in a hockey pool

    Considering the hate Provorov got, expect backlash. If there isn't backlash here, that'd be good, but it would also expose people are willing to look the other way depending on who the player in question is.

    I would do this deal. I'm big on McMichael, and think he will breakout one day. Although part of me feels that it's a deal that neither team would accept. Too many futures being traded from WSH, and VAN not wanting futures unless it's for pending UFAs. Would be nice though.

    The Caps won't make a deal like this. They'd be giving up the best player and a prospect. Kuznetsov will help Ovie in his pursuit of breaking the goals record. Backstrom isn't what he used to be. If they are to move Kuzy, have to think they'd want a similar level C coming back.

    The cup is the ultimate goal in the NHL. He has achieved this, and was a critical piece in doing so. Therefore he is not a loser like you suggest. He is in fact, a winner.

    With how the Canucks have been marketing the skate logo, I'm thinking there's a good chance this happens. As someone who likes both the orca and skate jerseys, I hope both stay in circulation.

    President's Trophy 4 way tie for that playoff spot, with 10th only 1 point out. Good parity.

    One fantastic year that we can only dream of having the same level of success. But I enjoy his personality/antics as well.
