  1. The narrow minded view is to seek instant gratification in wins now, despite it hurting our chances at long term success. These games are meaningless. Winning them only hurts our chances at drafting a great player.
  2. Remind me on draft day if you want to know. The alternative is to use those picks to draft and develop prospects. How is that not an alternative?
  3. While I don't want to overpay to keep him, if we let him walk, that will be another draft pick we gave away for nothing.
  4. This is the line of thinking that's led us to such poor results over the past decade. Aside from the cost controlled aspect that others have mentioned, we also gave up two high picks, not just one. Then there's the additional cap problems this created.
  5. Yep. Most people I know are Leafs/Habs fans, and they were all cheering for Vancouver. I'm sure there were some who went for Boston, but this victim mentality that "everyone was against the Canucks" is embarrassing.
  6. Jets Lineup Post-Deadline Miller - Stamkos - Kucherov Giroux - Staal - Hyman Maroon - Gaudreau - Kessel Noesen - Bellemare - Reaves Lomberg, Nieto Carlson - Tanev Pelech - DeMelo Clifton - Bogosian Ruhwedel Vanecek Fleury
  7. Sabres Lineup Post-Deadline Robertson - Point - Rantanen Marchand - Hughes - Thomas Teravainen - Zegras - Jarvis Martinook - Krejci - Foegele Cogliano, Noesen Hedman - Doughty Slavin - Bouchard Roy - DeMelo Gostisbehere Binnington Quick
  8. Might be tough to get returns for those players that are solely futures-based. Especially since they refuse to take draft picks even though we need to clear cap. Team is already capped out with a weak roster that will only get weaker after making cap-related subtractions.
  9. While it would feel ridiculous to give Atlanta a 3rd try, it could be a good move. The Thrashers couldn't attract a fanbase because the team was so miserable its entire existence. 1 playoff appearance and they were swept. If they have some competent management that can bring success the same way Vegas/Seattle has done, maybe the franchise could thrive.
  10. Drance is right though. The truth can hurt sometimes.
  11. Yep, we keep doing the same thing, and a portion of the fanbase keeps trying to find ways to justify it (and every other poor decision management ever makes). I bet many of the people praising the trade have never even watched Hronek play, outside of games against Vancouver. They'll look at his stats and think he's better than he is. Imagine thinking that a D-core of Hughes/OEL/Hronek can match up with the defenses of Colorado, Tampa, Carolina, etc
  12. Going with the Rangers, due to so many key players forcing their way there.
  13. As someone in Ontario, can confirm that most here were hoping for a Vancouver win. Yet people like to keep pushing this false narrative that all of Canada was against us.
  14. That would make too much sense for this group.
  15. This much is evident based on our moves. We'll keep trying the same thing, and failing over and over again.
  16. Addison who's been a scratch at times will probably struggle to get back into the lineup. Especially with Klingberg taking his PP role. Wonder if Addison is dealt in the offseason.
  17. Namestnikov available. Can stash him in your minor league until playoffs!
