Discussion - Value of Bo Horvat
Vinny in Vancouver replied to NucknAsia's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
I think if both don't accept, then both (and not just one) will get traded as JR hates losing assets for nothing. -
[Discussion] KADRI KANE TYPE OF PLAYERS...
Vinny in Vancouver replied to hockeygod77's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
I believe the Penguins (Rutherford) had the same view and this is how we got Pearson for Gudbranson which was a major win for us. Hopefully, JR doesn't make that mistake again. -
[Signing] Penguins re-sign Bryan Rust
Vinny in Vancouver replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Rust is at 0.9666 point per game and got a 5.2M AAV. So if we use that as a comparable, JT Miller at 1.2375 point per game should get 6.65M AAV. Jim Rutherford says, "where do I sign?" -
For his year, Quinn Hughes was supposedly number 2 in the Canucks' draft board behind Rasmus Dahlin. In the NHL Central Scouting list for North American skaters, he was ranked 6th and the only 2 guys ranked ahead of him that were drafted after are Evan Bouchard and Noah Dobson. For Elias Pettersson's year, he was supposedly number 2 in the Canucks' draft board his year behind Cale Makar. That said, he was ranked 2nd by NHL Central Scouting for European players. If you can believe it, Cale Makar was ranked 9th by NHL Central Scouting among North American skaters. The number 1 European player was Klim Kostin.

This is just an idea (so please don't downvote), but if you really, really, really want Bedard, in addition to tanking, you could try trading players (or even future picks) for right-to-swap first rounders with whoever you think will be most likely to get Bedard. It rarely gets done in the NHL, but it has been done in the past. The nice thing for the other team is that they end up not losing an actual first rounder. So for example: trade our #15 for the right to swap with the Coyotes' own first round pick next year + a second round pick this year trade a future first round pick to the Kraken for the right to swap with the Kraken's own first round + their second round pick next year. trade Boeser to Buffalo for the right to swap first round with the Sabres' own pick + a prospect Again, to make the other teams really interested, you'll almost need to tank this season by trading other players (e.g., JT and Bo's contracts are expiring at the end of the season) for future players (e.g., future first rounders).
