  1. Lol And what did Bo do to Boudreau then?
  2. Yup, the type of players the Canucks have don't really fit that. When Rutherford first mentioned that, I was thinking that there's going to be so much turnover in the team so maybe time to say goodbye to a few of them. Imho, they need to keep at least one of Bo or JT as they seem to be the 2 main leaders of the team based on who speaks to the media.
  3. I think Jim Rutherford already said, "speed and skill". Boudreau's known for loving speed.
  4. Did he (NOTE: not the media) actually use that as his excuse? Show me. Oh, and if you think Boudreau was being disrespectful of Horvat even though Bo had this good excuse, then Boudreau should not be our coach. But if Boudreau was calling it as he sees it, then I go with Boudreau more than whoever your sources are. As an aside, I like Bo as a player and deserved the recent praise. But I think when he screws up, he should be held accountable - even moreso since he's the captain. As I said, that comes with the territory - this is his team. I think my standards of Captain Bo are higher than yours - I have Bubble Bo as my standard - he sacrificed time with his newborn to lead the team to glory during that time both on and off the ice.
  5. Bo is THE Team Captain. Being compared to other Team captains should come with the territory. He is supposed to lead the team shift after shift after shift. Goodness gracious, sometimes, I feel like we're treating him as if he's a first-year Team captain as we seem to put this bubble around him. When he screws up, he needs to be accountable - "I screwed up with that play in OT" and not "_we_ need to play better." There were a few games during the Canucks' slide when he was simply not putting in the effort - all you need to do is look at those games and look at the past few games and you'll see the noticeable difference. I think his performance the past few games should be the standard for him and when he doesn't meet that, yeah, he's not fulfilling his role as the Captain - especially in this crucial time. And if you think those expectations are too harsh, then we need to find another team captain who can handle that load.
  6. Hard to believe after that terrible start, but Petey is now at over 0.75 ppg pace: 52 points in 69 games. Last season, he was at a 0.80 ppg pace.
  7. I thank him for his Team Canada Olympics contributions: Beyond that, I thought he played a good, old time hockey style very well.
  8. Fwiw, imho, Tampa and Colorado (and any other teams with superstars) are the wrong comparables if you want hope. I would look at the Flames. If they can do it with the players they have in just a few years, we should be able to do so as well. Heck, other than their coach, the biggest difference makers on their team from 2 years ago are 2 ex-Canucks in Tanev and Markstrom which they got through cap space.
  9. So sorry to hear that. Praying that your kid will be ok.
  10. If people here were scared of Nolan Patrick's concussions, they should also be scared of Byram's. I love the kid's game, but he needs to make sure he takes care of his long-term health.
  11. So many of the past few games have been an accurate reflection of the whole season: bad 1st period = Travis Green start catching up in the second and third period = Bruce Boudreau bounce eventually losing the game = not making the playoffs
  12. There's an article on Allvin in today's The Province where he talked about his thoughts on the players: “We have some good players here in place. I think every single player down there in the room have something to prove. We don’t have the superstar. We’re not a contending team right now. So every single player has something to prove to us. And that’s going to be the mindset moving forward.” Allvin knows he has some tough roster decisions to make in the months to come, with Brock Boeser needing a new contract and both J.T. Miller and Bo Horvat heading into the final years of their deals. And yes, the salary cap presents challenges. “I you want to be a good team, there’s only so much you can pay for players. You can pick and pay one or two players a lot of money, but then you know, the team in front of you is not good.” Based on that, there's no way he'll be paying superstar money on anybody on the team. I think JT's gone and Boeser's not going to get $6 mil.
  13. Zibanejad signed his contract October 10, 2021. The Rangers' interest in JT Miller happened after that.
  14. Imho, it will be based on dollars and team identity and position of the other players. Rutherford and Allvin have been really harping on cap flexibility since they came in. They've also been talking about the team needing more speed and skill. Garland seems to fit the bill there. If they see Petey as a C and want to keep JT Miller, then it'll be tough paying a 3C anything above 5M.
  15. I guess I may be in the minority here, and this is obviously arguable, but I think Garland gets you a 1st and Boeser gets you a 1st as well. Now it may not be a high 1st, but it's a 1st.
  16. I'd personally be very disappointed if he's not back. He's a great interview. He says it like it is. He's positive. That said, I haven't heard any Bruce endorsement from the management recently. I suppose now is not the time as they don't want any distractions from the playoff push? When Bruce first came in, he would deploy a hyper-aggressive forecheck - often sending 2 forwards throughout the game. But somehow he stopped. Not sure if it started when Alvin came but I've often wondered why he stopped doing something that seemed so successful.
  17. If we don't get Bedard or Michkov, I say let's go for Will Smith - just think of the memes!
  18. The only time I can tolerate playing spoiler is if it doesn't affect our draft positioning. Man, I hate not making the playoffs...
  19. I definitely get what you mean when you refer to white knights. As parents, my wife and I struggle a lot about being over-protective. With my son, imo, the best possible outcome would be for him to convince others that he's not stupid by him showing his worth. But at the same time, seeing my son go through this disability has actually helped me realize how badly I treated an Uncle who probably had the same condition. Had I known what I now know, I wouldn't have said some of the negative things I said about actions my Uncle did that he probably didn't have full control over.
  20. I have a son who has a disability, and it's not easy. Symptoms of his condition have led to others insinuating he's stupid, and it's the furthest thing from the truth. I once overheard his psychologist asking him, "do you think others think you're stupid?" And he said, "yes". Not a joking matter. Let's go back to Jada as she was the one getting made fun of. Apparently, she has shared her struggles about this condition publicly. You can see in her reaction to the joke that she wasn't happy. Damn right her husband should have been upset. But it's wrong her for her husband to choose that way to express his anger.
  21. On Chris Rock's insensitivity, if it were you, would you be making fun of someone's baldness? For goodness' sake, for all you know, it may be chemotherapy, no? Apparently, Chris Rock has a medical condition himself: https://www.health.com/condition/neurological-disorders/nvld-chris-rock-learning-disorder so one would hope that that would have made him more sensitive about others' potential medical condition. In any event, this is just all turning out to be such a bad look for so many people.
  22. Apparently, she has done quite a bit of interviews about it and posted it on her various social media. But even if the other person didn't know, Will Smith should still have gotten upset about somebody picking on any medical condition - he just chose the wrong way of expressing it.
  23. To be fair, apparently, some of the people there thought the whole thing was staged. So when they stood up to clap, that was probably for his performance in his movie role.
